Scary Bear
Thoughts on Rangers ground sharing Hampden? I see Queens Park are using their new stadium for games now. Now Queens Park are out it’s only one team using it before the first international in September.

The Scottish football authorites see fit to give the ‘Old Firm’ teams their own dressing rooms in our national stadium, so there really shouldn’t be a problem allowing one of them to play there. They might have to bring a screwdriver and a rawlplug to stick up their photie of Charlie Chuckles mind you. Maybe it’ll be provided for them.
2426255
Image posted on the Rangers thread by @bennett I'm sure no-one is happy with this situation. Overall it doesn't really bother me so long as the pitch is okay. September isn't a huge worry: at the moment Rangers are scheduled to play their last game at home on 24-Aug but there is still a European fixture that's uncertain. Perhaps in October and November it might be more of an issue. Hopefully not.
Sergeant Wilson
I'd be quite happy if Ibrox and Hampden burned down.
adamntg
As someone who now faces their street being populated by invading Rangers fans every second week, I am not happy about this. I’m told there was a public consultation for Celtic moving in back in 94. Nothing this time.
Sugar_Army
Pain in the @rse to get to at times. Once took me 4hrs to get from Dundee by car to into the ground. By then Scotland was already down 0-1 v Poland. Then anther 3hrs to get home due to traffic. Not ideal on a work day. When we are lucky enough to reach a semi final, depending on who we are playing it can sometimes be half empty. Would rather be at a smaller stadium which is near full. If we are playing either of the OF, we are given they end they are not "traditionally" given, even if we are coming from the North East and while we never normally need a 50/50 split, other sometimes do, but have to fight for it. So much for a "neutral cup final". The sightlines are poor from behind the goals. As for Rangers using it just now? Does not bother me, Celtic have used it before. Although neither of them at particularly forthcoming when it comes to what is actually best for Scottish football. There is a reason they are called The Old Firm. They say they hate each other (the fans may) but the boards work together if it benefits them both and to hell with everybody else. Ideally a stadium by Stirling way which has easy access for all clubs in Scotland would be great but it aint gonna happen. Knockdown/revamp aint gonna happen for a while either. We are stuck with it.

GordonS
Money is going from Rangers fans to the SFA, so I'm happy. I feel for the neighbours but Rangers are there up to 4 times a season anyway so it's not totally unfamiliar.
gannonball
Couldn't really give a f**k tbh. SFA boost their coffers and I'm guessing queens will be compensated abit and it's only a temporary measure so don't see what the big deal is myself.
Chripper
The insurance company will receive a few rings in the upcoming weeks/months. Hope not too much damage is done.

We’re not used to orcs.
DA Baracus
Thought Queen's Park are also using Hampden and only used Lesser last night due to the Motherwell match at Hampden today?

Aye. Queen’s Park don’t have another home game until after the Poland game though.
forameus
Looking like Glasgow may get the Commonwealth Games again in 2026. If that happens, assume the Athletics will have to happen there, so assume there will be a period of time where we get chucked out of our own national stadium for a while again.

No, it will be a scaled down version using Scotstoun Stadium.

forameus
Scotstoun completely slipped my mind as somewhere they could hold it, that makes more sense. Although does make it seem a bit more school sports day in a way.

It won’t even be possible to use the temporary stands they build for the Glasgow Warriors because those are usually set up on the running track itself. And I don’t think there’s enough space for these stands to sit any further back, unless Scotstoun is willing to rip up its 7s pitches and car park to accommodate it. Which they may well do, but even then you’re probably still struggling to reach 10k in terms of capacity. Just feels like far too small a venue for an event like the Commonwealth Games. Pie Of The Month
The 'we could use Scotstoun' claim months back feels like the kind of thing they say when they are claiming there'll be no public investment involved in the bid before we then get the games and they say Scotstoun with temporary stands isn't feasible and we need to spend money on Hampden again. I quite liked having qualifiers at Celtic Park and Ibrox last time, the Ireland game in particular was a great night.
