Scottish Amateur Cup 24/25

Recommended Posts

Wouldn’t it be better if it wasn’t regionalised from the first round? Meaning anyone can get a good away day right off the bat? Rather than, with the greatest respects, the not so good teams, knowing they have to get through a round, or two (can’t remember how many it is) before they have a chance of that away day everyone wants?

I noticed quite a lot of Scottish Premier AFA teams in the west section (excluding the 14 in the league). Are they youth sides? I know there are always a few U21 sides in the draw but seemed like more than normal this year.

Edit: Just checked and there's a mixture of U21s and U19s from the SPAFA (quite a high number from U19s).

The u-19s and u-21s don’t have a stand alone Scottish cup as far as I know so are invited to enter the amateur tournament. It’s been that way for past few seasons. There are a lot more teams this season hence the higher number in the cup.

It’s only 1 round now before being all in I believe. The regionalised draw will be to balance the numbers in a fairer way. I reckon if u made it all in from rd 1 there would be a lot of forfeits. Some of the ‘not so good’ clubs as u call it, struggle to organise themselves never mind a trip to the other end of the country

Every year the Scottish becomes more open and you'll see unfashionable clubs getting a very good run in it. One of the main positives from the likes of Colville folding etc and players who are far too good for amateur football winning all the big cups and denying other guys who are genuine amateur players a good shot at it.

Good luck to everyone involved 👍

No real stand out ties in the second round, all the big hitters should get through without incident, I would suspect.

Usual top teams will be there or thereabouts: St Pat’s, Castlemilk, Steins, Bannockburn, Cupar Hearts.

Would expect the winner will be one of those five, but you never know.
