Listened to him on one or two podcasts over the years and remember him coming across as authentic and driven by a passion for the cause he was fighting for. These are qualities worthy of respect. I always had the impression that he was in it to campaign as opposed to having status or making money. He certainly was SNP, but I’m not sure if he still was at his time of passing. Hopefully someone can confirm. People shouldn’t just be defined by their politics though, and he seemed a really nice guy with a good sense of humour. R.I.P.
