The MIGHTY City v Ronnie Biggs' Nose

Recommended Posts

The thread you've all been waiting for- it's City v the Great Train Robber's conk.

We might have met in competition back in the Junior days between 1950 and 1955. I'll let the programme editor do the research on that one. I think we've had 2 friendlies in the last 25 years.

Rumours that Calum Elliot might get the bullet if Bonnyrigg lose are swirling. There's been one or two managers sacked after losing to City in the past so this could be an omen.

Prediction: 1-0 City with the shitest goal you've ever seen being sclaffed in on the 90th minute.

Two teams full of LL players and journeymen scrapping it out - I just hope our LL players and journeymen are better than your LL players and journeymen!!

This game has all the makings of an edgy, snooze fest with both teams petrified to lose. But it also has the potential of a no holds barred classic where both teams decide they must win so they attack each others goal like a Chisora-Joyce slug-fest ……. I certainly hope for the latter but fear the former is more likely.

I got a text message earlier from Edinburgh City/Fanbase offering me a discount for tomorrow.  I guess because I’ve bought City tickets on the app a handful of times over the last couple of years.

I can’t go to Meadowbank tomorrow regardless, but was curious as to what lovely discount I was getting, my guess was 20%.

The anticipation was high as I put the code in to Fanbase and it offered me a mouth watering 10% off (£1.50). Too kind guys. 😬

Not a great game - 2 poor teams slugging it out, but thought Rose probably just sneaked it performance wise, even with 10 men. Ref chucking cards about like confetti didn’t help the game …. when will Scottish refs realise this IS a contact sport? Linemen didn’t help either, especially the near side one in the first half - I thought he was using his flag for semaphore as he was waving it about that much!

On this showing, I think we’re looking at the 2 relegation candidates. Elliot needs to change something otherwise this season could be a disaster. I’m lost why he’s not signing at least one CB ….. 🤷‍♂️

Listened to City manager's post match interview before viewing Bonnyrigg's match highlights. Both teams hit the bar once, Bonnyrigg's keeper has 1 good save, big Mark makes 3 good saves and if header near the end is not over the line, then that's 4 good saves. I appreciate the highlights may be tilted in Rose's favour, but can any City fan confirm their gaffer's opinion that City deserved to win even allowing for the fact they were playing against 10 men for majority of 2nd half ?

To be honest if City had been 4-0 down at half time it wouldn't have been a travesty. And we might well have lost 3-2 if that lad had been able to bury the chance he got right at the end instead of mucking it up. Or we might have won 3-1 if the Rose keeper hadn't made a good block to prevent an o.g. It's a funny old game, Saint.

Managers never say "aye, we were shite and the opposition deserved to win" unless they're really honest or have been on the end of a shellacking and having been 2-1 up perhaps Michael is entitled to say City should have won. I'm mostly honest though, was happy to score two goals, was less happy at our inability yet again to defend a cross, and will settle for a point although would like to have had three.
