GallowayBlue
Not sure where the best place for this is, but given he used to cover the top flight and he's a Dundee United fan maybe this is the place. I used to really enjoy Jim Spence on the radio, felt he stood up for the "lesser" teams, and met him once (>10 years ago) and he seemed like a great guy. He seems to be more and more extreme in his views on Twitter, with a real dislike for lots of things, especially young people. I don't think he was always like this, is it the effect of an algorithm which takes people in a certain direction or are we just seeing the real Jim? HunterAFC
Here's a link to Umberto Eco's essay Ur-Fascism, it's a good thought provoking read for a Sunday morning, no other reason. https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/umberto-eco-ur-fascism

Savage Henry
Yep. He blocked me on Twitter for saying “The word racism does have meaning, and often people recognise it when they see it”. This was around the time Lozza Fox lost his defamation case against someone who called him racist. The guy, it’ll be of no surprise to anyone, is very pally with Scot Gardiner and both follow Tommy Robinson, that fake minister guy and that beardy historian, among other lunatics. He’s firmly in the Russell Brand school of insanity that says the worst thing to be in the world is a white straight male.
Watson Nimrod
Like many I used to fair enjoy him on the radio, particularly around the time of the Rangers implosion when he often hosted the Radio Scotland podcast. He was back to himself for a while on the now defunct Courier talking football podcast (why they got rid of that format is beyond me but that’s a different subject) but at times you felt the collective discomfort when he briefly would go off on a tangent. Sad to witness someone who was respected loose himself down a rabbit hole. Edited August 25 by Watson Nimrod
Alert Mongoose
The only element of defence I'll offer for the bold Jum is that he was clearly pushed out of the BBC for not towing the pro-Rangers line taken by BBC Scotland. He appears to have taken it rather badly akin to the divorced 'da.

houston_bud
I deleted twitter a good while ago now, but he definitely seemed to becoming quite extreme on some issues before I left, although he still made good and interesting points at times. I've not really been aware of him since, I'm assuming the BBC etc won't touch him now. Does he still write in the Courier? It's a shame to hear that he's continued down some rabbit holes, as I always enjoyed his input on Scottish football - even if I didn't always agree. Dons_1988
Don’t really do twitter rabbit holes so not sure what’s being referenced. Always thought post-BBC he’d just become a bit of a Da.

Melanius Mullarkey
I drove past him the other day on the Cleppy Road and he seems to be getting smaller whilst his noggin is getting bigger. I should have run him down while I had the chance.

pozbaird
Last time I remember hearing him on the radio, he genuinely wanted to start a campaign to see St Mirren’s shirts have patches on the back, because he had difficulty reading the red numbers, and couldn’t properly name the players. For that reason alone, he can fcuk off. As can the chunt who covered our recent game at Pittodrie on BBC Sportsound. He announced that he was delighted we were wearing our blue away strip as he could now name the players better. Funny how the BBC Sportsound guys and gals have no issue with numbers on a green and white hooped shirt being difficult to read, and there’s no campaign to have shirt patches in the East end of Glasgow for domestic matches. Consider Spence to have ground my gears. You lot are getting paid to commentate / report on top flight football. If you can recognise Matt O’Riley but not Mark O’Hara - then fcuk off, learn who the players are, and do the fcuking job you’re being paid to do. and now I will breathe…
