Scott McTominay

Recommended Posts

A really nice touch by Manchester United to release a farewell video:

As a Uniited fan, I wanted him to stay (he was a consummate professional, a great lad and a great example), but as a Scotland fan I wanted him to leave (to get first team football)

Napoli are a huge club (stunningly beautiful city), so It's not like he's moving to a mistake EPL club.

Seria A clubs don't spend £20m on players they intend to be squad players, so McTominay will be a starter.

I just hope Conte doesn't make the mistake that Jose, Ole and Rangnick made by mislabelling him as a no 6 who shouldn't pass the center circle.

Good luck, Scott.

(It'll be interesting to see the Tartan invasion of Italian football: Ferguson, McTominay, Gilmour (hopefully), Doig, Adams and Henderson)

I am assuming your comment about Naples being a stunningly beautiful city is tongue in cheek.

Always good to see our players exploring their options abroad. Broadening the mind and all that, and a sign that we've got some players of genuine quality. Also takes a bit of bravery to up sticks and go somewhere with a new language to learn, even if they'll get plenty of help from their employers to settle in.

Godspeed, gentlemen.

Conte was a brilliant midfielder in his day.

Working under him will be great for the development of Gilmour and McTominay.

And very similar hard working cm

£40m Series A Burger Lords (with extra sauce)

Tbh I do have concerns that Bilmore will go back to being a bit more of a squad player. Think he's more suited to Italian football and the manger certainly knows what he's getting tho. Would love to see the 2 of them playing regularly together.

Early days

They signed two days ago FFS.

You think they would have expected to start after just 2 days🤔

They will have barely unpacked in a hotel. Think the next games in a couple of wks, still early days as far as I'm concerned.

It was a conundrum for ten Hag. He didn't want to lose McTominay, but he also knew that he couldn't guarantee Scott first team starts.

Matic posted on Twitter yesterday thar United have made a big mistake in selling him.

He's right. They have.

You could spend £100m+, but you cannot buy the love and desire and heart that Scott McTominay has for United. (Antony and Sancho are prime examples)

I think it was the same thing for the Brighton manager. Didn't want to lose him, but couldn't guarantee Gilmour starts.

After seeing Brighton under the new manager, it'll be chalk and cheese for how they played under De Zerbi. They're very direct.

I think both clubs will regret selling them.

I agree both clubs will regret it and really hope it works out for both players as they both deserve it.

Gilmour is my favourite player to watch so followed the saga closely. Agree with your assessment of it. I think it's shortsighted on Brighton's behalf to let such a high quality and improving player go for such a small fee, just because he doesn't fit the new manager's system. Really hope he gets a good amount minutes at Napoli but, even if it takes a while, he presumably thought that was a better option to go somewhere he will be phased in rather than phased out more and more as the new system at Brighton evolves. I feel for him as he deserved a starting spot after last season and don't imagine he'd have even considered leaving if that was guaranteed. He's not the luckiest with manager's etc...

Brighton have left themselves short though, in quality at least, especially after Milner's injury yesterday, and none of the new ones are proven in PL.

Time will tell on all sides I guess.
