The Fife v Bloo Toon

Recommended Posts

We welcome our friends from the North East for todays game at a dull and slightly damp Bayview, good news is that their is little wind !

The Fifers' will be looking to bounce back after last weeks disappointment v Stranraer against the unbeaten league leaders.

East Fife have added Andrew Tod on  a season long loan from Dunfermline Athletic. He should find a place on  the bench today. Jess Norey missing last week will hopefully make a recovery and slot into Centre-mid.  Alan Fleming will be in  goal after Liam McFarlane's  red card.

We should line up :

                                                 -Fleming-

                       -Walker-   -Munro-  -Easton-  -Newton-

                                           -Millar-  -Norey-

                             -Healy-     -Trouten-     -Peggie-

                                                   -Austin-

Apart from a 20 minute spell before half time East Fife never looked in trouble. Agree 2nd goal was against the run of play but 2nd half Peterhead didn’t threaten very much. McAllister was poor East Fifes central defenders had him in their pocket all game. In the end East Fife deserved the victory and not a failure in black and gold today. Once the three guys missing today make a return our squad depth looks a lot better. Peterhead will play worse and win this season think both teams got a realistic chance of the title.

Hard fought win with The Fife coming out on  top to make it 4 wins out  of 4 at home.

Trouten should  have scored with his effort a few minutes before he did score. Peterhead took  a hold of the mid-field and were excellent. Barry  and Dunne caught the eye but they lacked something clinical in front of goal with McAllister playing the lone striker. East Fife hit  back and Murdo took  advantage of poor defending at a corner to find the net.

2nd half  East Fife's midfield was much more competitive and the players put in a tremendous effort. Austin  was continually man handled by the Perterhead defence without  any protection from the Referee. Peterhead all too often resorted  to long balls which Andy Munro dealt with.

Tod put in a good shift on his debut, Millar was excellent and i  thought Newton was MoM.

A well deserved 3 points in the end with stellar displays all round from EF. I agree that PH were the better team in the  FIRST HALF and had the better clear cut chances but the purpose of the game is the same thru out the whole world, ie put the ball between the 2 white posts and below the white bar, do that more times than your opponents, then you win a game of football. Sound easy, as we EF fans all well know .

Second half, EF took control of the midfield and with a little more composure, could have created more opportunities to extend their lead. On the other hand, PH created very little and got no change from the home defenders, with the 2 central defenders commanding everything. I thought Newton was again  excellent after a wobbly display last week, Millar and McManus immense in midfield in the second half, whilst all other players showed great camaraderie.

Two very important games coming up in the next 2 weeks, then we will have a good view where EF stand after the first quarter
