Fudge
The breaking news on Sky News just now is that Gerry and Kate had a peaceful nights sleep Who gives a f**k if they slept or not. Having a peaceful nights sleep is probably a big deal if you've had many sleepless nights, wracked with guilt because you killed your daughter.

MarreZ
Let me get this straight. They had their kids in a creche and then they put them to bed at 7.30pm?? Did they spend any time with their kids on this holiday? I've seen Div mention that we've all done things that maybe left our kids unsafe - and I can agree to this to an extent. But the thought of putting your kids to bed at 7.30pm and then going out for dinner - and doing this night after night - is just not something that I could ever contemplate - not do I find it plausible that I could get a 4 year old to happliy go to bed and to sleep at 7.30pm in the evening while on holiday! As I've said before, my own 3 year old (in fact she was still 2 when we were on holiday) was still running about after midnight full of life. I can also remember when we first went abroad with my son when he was 4 - there is no way that he would easily or happily gone to bed at 7.30pm. And leaving aside the fact that I find it incerdibly hard to believe that a 4 year old would easily go to sleep so early in the evening - what is the point in having kids and going on holiday with them if you are just going to stick them in a creche and then put them to bed early every night so you can go off for dinner with your friends? For me and my wife - having the kids out with us at night is great fun - we like to be with our children (even though our son is a real handful). At the apartments we were at everyone with kids had them out at night - and it didn't stop all enjoying ourselves, eating, drinking and socialising. Putting your kids in a creche and then putting them in bed early all stinks of incredible selfishness to me. Dont forget, they were both well into their 30's by the time they had their kids, i dont know how long they were together before they had children, but anyone waiting till mid 30's to have children is perhaps more used to having their "me" time, than people who start earlier, they would always have had plenty money to enjoy themselves. Running back to Britain does not exactly do them any favours, and finding out they would use the find maddie fund to clear themselves rather than putting it to good use helping other missing children, or children in general just stinks to high heaven. When you look at the website, it is obscene, they charge for look for maddie posters! Everything about it is a slick money making machine. So what now? They come back, they ask that the media respect their privacy, sorry folks, it dosent work that way, if you put yourself out there, the media is not going to leave it alone, and rightly so. What is probably more interesting now is the redtops differing views on the story, papers are hedging their bets, with the Sun firmly in the McCann's side, and people like the mirror going the other way, theres a lot at stake.
H_B
Something else that has confused me is the ugly permed torn faced spokeswoman they have. a) Is her time being paid for by the Save Madeleine fund? b.) Is that a real job? What does she normally do? c) Why didn't they get a decent looking one?

My dad was 42 when I was born, and I was never dumped in a creche all day, then put to bed a stupidly early time. Seeing as my parent actually did a good job, they'd spend the day doing activities with my sister and I. We'd then go down for dinner before going back to the room where I;d bound about for hours before evnetually falling aslpee. There was a comment much ealier in this thread saying that they went across the road for dinner and left their kids, was this bad parenting? My initial reacton was 'I'd never leave my kids in that situation', but not being a parent I was perhaps not the best to decided. I asked my mum if she would have ever done that, he reply was 'of course not, that's shocking parenting'

I asked my mum if she would have ever done that, he reply was 'of course not, that's shocking parenting' My mum was 28 and my dad 30 when they had me, and I was always put to bed really quite early. 7:30pm was about the usual time for bed when I was younger. When I left primary school at age 12, I was allowed up until 9 and it wasn't until I was about 15/16 that I really took control of my own bed time. Lights out was always at 10 at the maximum until then. On holiday I suspect I would have been allowed up later, but I sincerely doubt it was much later. My parents were generally very strict about bed time. My dad also agreed that he would never have left us on our own at that age so that they could go out and enjoy dinner however he didn't judge the McCanns for doing so. He said the whole reason we were always put to bed at 7:30pm was so that he and mum could enjoy some "them" time. Guest stennyhibee
I can't help but think that if Kate did kill Maddie then this would make a brilliant movie! Especially if she ate her.

Fudge
From the age of about 6 onwards, I never had a set bedtime. Some nights I'd sit up til midnight playing PGA 95 with my dad, others I'd go to bed at 9pm because I felt tired. On light summer nights we'd all run about the streets til 10 or 11pm when it got dark before having to come in for the night. I just sort of presumed this was the norm for kids and couldn't comprehend being told to go to bed at a certain time. Football from dawn to dusk took up most of my childhood and if I was sent to my room with the lights out any earlier than 10pm, I'd be bouncing about the room for another couple of hours.

I asked my mum if she would have ever done that, he reply was 'of course not, that's shocking parenting' I wasnt saying all parents who have children later are like that, its easy to see that the McCann's did by the actions of leaving their children crying at night while they went out for dinner, they wanted a holiday and didnt want the hassle of their children out with them in the evening. I took my kids on holiday in 1997, one was 2 and a half, the other 18 months, it was the worst holiday we ever went on, the baby wouldnt stop crying when we went out, we were stuck outside a live band, and were back in the room for 8pm every night for two weeks. Leaving our kids to even sit outside with the live band wasnt something that even crossed our minds, but the McCann's obviously were of that mindset, they did it every night of the holiday according to witnesses. I dont really know what my point is, probably that Im great and Gerry McCann is a selfish twat.
Guest Ron Burgundy
The ginger carpet bagger . Ex Liberal democrat prospective MP and PR guru jumps on opportunity to get face all over papers to ensure she gains the "oooh she loved Maddie" vote at the next election. What an absolute cow, I hope the Portuguese police frame her for a crime or at least jail her for tainting the case with her nonsensical pronouncemets.
