Pink Freud
Further pedantry: The Kingdom of Strathclyde was not mythical but actually quite real. I said nythical. It is most certainly nythical.
Guest Five and Twenty Past
I think it included the town of Carlisle And much of modern-day Cumbria. It was conquered by/absorbed into Scotland around the year 1020 or so.
Thundermonkey
Why would anyone go to Strathclyde for a holiday? Why not? I'm going to Falkirk for my summer holiday.
The Real Saints
To be honest, I don't really see the problem in going to Strathclyde for a 3 day break. We weren't expecting it to be a haven, obviously. We're not stupid, and my family are definitely not 'mongols'. It was less expensive than a holiday abroad and we only stayed there for 2 nights. We have been there before actually, staying at the Hilton a few years ago, although I can't really remember it. I suppose it can't really be classed as a holiday, just a bit of a 'getaway' from Perth for a few days, without having to travel too far, and an excuse to go to M&D's, which isn't really that bad! Anyway, we're trying to book a trip to Lanzarote for the October holidays now, so that should be good.

Given that his family decided against a package holiday abroad and instead opted for to trapse around a furniture store then I would sumise that there is a lot the lad has missed out on... They didn't decide against it - there was no choice! We were either going to go on a cruise, or to Greece, but we couldn't find any good deals. We decided to go to somewhere else in Scotland, which wouldn't take too long to drive to, and seeing as we'd been to the Strathclyde Hilton once before and found no major problems with it at all, it seemed to be the safe option. So essentially you decided to go live in a hotel for several days for the sake of living in a hotel then Some would argue that the hotel is a means to an end rather than the end itself, you know, like going to a particularly scenic, remote or otherwise exciting destination that is too far awy to return to your own home.... OK, we'd been to Strathclyde before a few years back with my grandparents, and it happened that we stayed at the Hilton. I don't remember it, but my parents seemed to think that it had been a nice, relaxing break, so we went again. And StandFree, yes, my parents are actors! I think the nearest restaurant to your Hilton room, though, would be the restaurant conveniently located inside the Hilton.
