One interesting stat -

Henry 40 goals this season - Owen, Heskey, Vasell & Rooney 41 goals between them all season.

Anyone have any info on this Pedretti chap though. Never heard of him.

I'm not so sure about France...Barthez is hardly reliable and Zidane hasn't been the same as he once was. Trezeguet has had a relatively poor season for Juve, and Henry and Pires are overrated by the English media. I'll be surprised if they can perform as well as they do against crappy defences in the Premiership.

I saw Pedretti in that Confederations Cup thingy last year, he looked not bad!!

Desailly is rubbish, is Mexes injured? Gallas should play beside Boumsong.

nah, henry is the best player in the world.

I don't think we can conclude that until he's proved himself at the highest level week in week out (ie Serie A or La Liga). The Premiership makes him look good and he's never exactly set the CL alight has he? He was pish at Juve and I don't believe that tosh about him being played out of position. Juve are legendary at getting the best out of players - no-one rated Vieri or Zidane until Juve snapped them up, now look at them!

i reckon the premiership is just as good as la liga and serie a.

unless henry does what he did in 2002 (sent off after 20 mins agianst uruguay sumsit up really) then he will be the player of the tournament- he will be well suited to top european competition after a few seasons going relatyively well in the cl and his pace is getting better and better.

if he was so bad at juve, why did arsene wenger, one of the smartest buyers in the game (anelka for £2million and sold for £23million) pay £11million for him? thats the same amount liverpool payed for heskey and leeds payed for robbie fowler!!!

£11 million's not that much nowadays. Juventus are also extremely good at selling players for as much as they can get.

The top teams in Spain, Italy and England are roughly on the same level, but the lower Premiership teams are not on the same level as the lower La Liga and Serie A teams.

Those who think Henry is the best in the world have been duped by the English media, the same way Shellic fans are duped into thinking Larsson is world class. He's good, sure, but he's made to look better than he is. It's no coincidence Juve dumped him and brought in Trezeguet. The Premiership is chock-a-block of players who failed to make it in Serie A: Di Canio, Bergkamp, Vieira, Henry, Veron, that's just off the top of my head.

Zola was the muts nuts a napoli and parma, they still love him.

Aye Napoli and Parma, not exactly bigshots are they?

If Henry goes to Italy or Spain and proves himself as a top goalscorer there, then I will admit I have been unfairly criticising him. I don't think it would happen though. IMO the best player in the world is Shevchenko. Finished top scorer in his first season at AC (virtually unheard of for a foreign import) and has so much goalscoring talent it's unbelievable. It's a real shame he plays for a crappy country like Ukraine and can never show his talents on the big international stage.
