HELP!!!!

I've got a problem with the audio on my pc. Here is the problem:

From time to time (becoming more and more often now) when I start my PC, the audio isn't working.

I've checked the volume and drivers, and they're ok. If I try to play a sound, the player just hangs.

Sometimes, when I reboot, it works straight away, sometimes it can take up to 20 or more re-boots before it comes on. It's driving me up the fekcin wall!!:angry:

I've checked in BIOS and I don't have any on-board audio interfering.

Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance.

Have you added a new piece of hardware to your PC?

You could have conflict.

Does the sound Hang on REAL and Windows Audio?

I haven't added hardware for donkeys.

Yes it hangs on both, even if I go into sounds in control panel, and play for example, the noise I have selected for new mail, that even hangs. Weird.

Has your soundcard become dislodged from its PCI socket?

I'll need to check that Winston, but I can get sound after re-booting a few times. It's a really weird one.

My advice would be to ctr-alt-del and open task manager, when it happens again it can point you in the right direction and see what program is causing your PC to hang, either that re-ibstall the soundcard and drivers and get rid of Realplayer!

I have managed to fix this by moving the soundcard into a different slot.

Unfortunately, my run of bad luck has continued, as I tried to change the email address for my real account on here, and the bloody validation email won't come through, hence I cannae f'kin log in!

It also means I have lost my moderating powers until such times as I can get back into my real account
