Guest Annfield Red
Did anyone see this incident? Seemingly it happened near the end of the game against Denmark. If true then he should be kicked out of the tourney. There is no place in the game for spitting hopefully this is not true as Veiri is without a doubt a class player who should not have to stoop to this level. If Veiri was to be kicked out then Italy's chances could well go with him.
mythicalcreature
A suspension ruling him out of the rest of the tournament is what is needed here. Spitting (at someone) is disgusting, DP is a better player IMO anyway.
Guest Ruggy Bairn
Get him on the next plane home and ban him from playing for his country again. Fking disgusting, full in the face and more than once apparently. W@nker.

Buzz Killington
some lazio guy got an 8 match ban for spitting at a chelsea player in the champions league. mijatovic or something? that ban would have been handed out by uefa so he may get that
joozy
Grotty b'gger. A lengthy ban is needed here!
Baggio
Italy rely too much on Totti. DP will be their talisman now and lead them to the next round. Totti should be banned for that tackle and banned for the spitting

He also got a lengthy ban for going up to Patrick Viera at the end of a previous CL game and calling him a "fvcking black monkey". Charming fellow
joozy
Sinisa Mijailovic got banned for spitting at Mutu. He's a complete and utter loony though. Isn't he the guy that was a strong supporter of Arkan and various other radical Serb nationalists? The fascist tendency within the Lazio support loved him which tells you all you need to know about the guy. NB: My knowledge of Balkan politics is non-existent and i have a tendency to get names and countries in the region confused.
David W
Totti is a fantastic player. But what he did was unexcusable. He should be banned, not just for the rest of the tournament, but for the majority of Italy's qualifiers for World Cup 2006.
Neilly
Totti is over rated anyway, will be no big loss to Italy. Put Cassano up front with Vieri and Del Piero in behind and they might actually play attacking football
k38jfb
Totti will probably get banned for five matches, so he'll be able to play in the final if Italy reach it.
An Sionnach
Get him on the next plane home and ban him from playing for his country again.Fking disgusting, full in the face and more than once apparently. W@nker. Four times in one game, allegedly, Ruggy. Agree it's disgusting and totally unacceptable. Whatever they do, Totti's brought disgrace on his country. Time for him to get his coat, I think.... Edited just to say, on the lighter side, that Christian Poulson is an anagram of 'Uncle spits on hair' and Totti's anagram is 'A concert of tits' - which is nice

miketheheadlesschicken
DP is a better player IMO anyway. Del Piero is no longer the player he was. Totti is currently a far better player but he has still yet to perform for Italy at a major tournament. 20 goals in Serie A last season is an incredible record for someone who isn't a striker. Guest Annfield Red
he got 3 game ban He should have been banned for the whole tournament, this way it would have sent a clear message that spitting is not to be tolerated.
Savage Henry
Let's get this in perspective though, Lee Bowyer was given a five game ban for stamping on that guy's head. To my mind that is far more serious than spitting.

To my mind that is far more serious than spitting. It's an interesting one. Obviously, stamping or a really bad tackle is a lot more dangerous than spitting. However, spitting remains the ultimate insult. I'm sure there's some sociological and anthropological treatises out there explaining this but i can't be bothered tracking them down. He was mate of Arkan. It was him who persuaded the 'Irridublici' (Lazio Ultras) to unfurl a massive banner reading 'Honour to the Tiger Arkan' in the first game at the Stadio Olympico after Arkan got assasinated. Interestingly though, Viera was actually quite forgiving about what Mijailovic said to him, saying that it/sledging was part of the game. Viera had apparently called Mijailovic a 'fvcking gypsy' during the game. He seemed to say that what happens on the pitch should stay on the pitch. There was a bit on this in Tim Parks' book 'A Season With Verona'. Still disgusting imho though.

Perhaps you meant Christian Poulsen. Totti is overrated, I've always thought Del Piero is better. He doesn't have the attitude problem of Cry Baby Francesco.
