Savage Henry
BBC have managed to pinch England T20 live coverage, plus the new domestic T20 tournament, under the new bargaining agreement. Sky keeps the tests. BBC beat off talkspite for radio rights. Good news all round.

Eta talksport doing cricket would be brutal !

The last time they had it, it was that old right wing guy who died shouting at the telly.

Bully Wee Villa
I still don't like the sound of the new competition. Will struggle to build up any affinity to a team with eleven new players and no link to Warwickshire every season.
Jmothecat2
Would have liked to see some test cricket on terrestrial Tv but I understand why T20 makes more sense in the absence of dedicated sports channels.Great to see Root get a century in his debut as captain. Been a fairly enjoyable first day to this test match.
peasy23
South Africa's over rate is very poor, looks like they will lose 4 or 5 overs from the day. Should be a set punishment for lost overs imo when there is no excuse, penalise teams 10 runs for every over lost then they will soon get the finger out.
Jmothecat2
Root becomes only the second England captain to score 150 in his first test match as captain. He's also the second in a row to do so.

Root is a legend in the making.

Problem with over rates is both sides can fanny about, if that was the case batting sides would start taking the piss

Jmothecat2
190 for Root. Would have loved to see him get a double hundred but fantastic to see him getting such a good score on his debut as captain.
Savage Henry
South Africa fail to refer an LBW shout which was pretty plumb, but it makes up for the Dawson decision which is going way over the top, despite what Hawkeye says. Two early wickets have England 377/7. Still looks a very competitive total.
Jmothecat2
The bowlers are getting something from the pitch so 400 or so would be a pretty good score I would think.
Jmothecat2
Broad with a useful half century with a couple of sixes.
Jmothecat2
458 all out. I think that's a pretty good total.

Jimmy Anderson with a useful 12 with a six as well. This is fun. 40 odd from 20 odd balls. ETA: two or three overs before lunch for England to bowl. An early wicket and they're well on top. 458 is a good total. Edited July 7, 2017 by Savage Henry
Savage Henry
This pitch is dead. Liam Dawson is terrible. Moeen Ali is by a mile England's best spinner.

Shame rashid can't quite convert from one day to test cricket. Can bat a bit and will take wickets but never quite has enough control n consistency for tests. Always liked him as a cricketer
