Drooper
I'm champing at the bit to get back on the bike, but I know that every day that passes will make it tougher to get back into it. I'm really not looking forward to taking the bus tomorrow. By the time I get to the bus stop, I would have been 3/4 of the way into work if taking the bike.
broon-loon
Noting Matt Baker's CIN effort with interest and he seems to be struggling now. Anyone on here tried to cycle a fair distance on a Rickshaw or similar? Not on a rickshaw I know, but a few seasons ago I tried to cycle round all the 3rd division grounds. After 5 days and almost 500 miles passing my own doorstep en route I gave in. There were a few reasons for stopping, but what killed me was saddle pain....! I did manage all the 2nd division grounds this summer. Started the journey from Paisley (well Glasgow Airport Travelodge), but the first actual ground was Dumbarton, then made my way up to Station Park via all the other grounds. It was roughly 220 miles and I took 2 fairly long days and 1 much shorter day to complete the trip. Almost never made it to Glasgow on a Scotrail train to start with though... Ejected off the train at Perth as there were too many bikes on it.....? Finally, anyone on here done LE to John O Groats? I would really like to know which route you chose and if you would do it again...?
Silvio Tattiescone
Quite fancy doing some endurance stuff, I'm not really a sprinter and I can't keep up the 20mph pace others here manage. But a big disincentive is the saddle pain. I know why it happens - after about 40 miles my legs are knacked and I'm sitting harder on the saddle, leaning harder on the bar etc so I'm sure I can improve things with conditioning but I need to change my saddle. I'm also thinking of changing my bike. The Secteur is great on good roads but it feels a little fragile on bad roads. I'd like to be able to vary things between roads, cycle paths, tracks etc so I've been looking at this bike - More info here I spotted a bike shop in Carlisle that stocks Cannondale and they offer trade-ins. If I did get it, I quite fancy doing Inverness - Perth, especially on the cycle path from Dalwhinnie to Aviemore. But I'd want a good saddle
monkeyblair
I have taken a day off work tomorrow and plan to get back out on the road for a decent cycle. Will probably do the Queensferry to Bonnybridge to Kincardine Bridge to Dunfermline to Forth Road Bridge route. Weather looks set fair.
Drooper
Still off the bike I need something to aim toawards as my mojo is fading with every day that passes. What about getting organised with Team P&B? We've toyed with this idea earlier in the thread, but I reckon the down season is the time to muster up some enthusiasm and give us a goal to work towards. I'll contact Div to check out if he's cool with using the P&B tag, and I'll have a look a few rides scheduled for next late Spring. I reckon we should aim to get a meet organised for Feb/March so we can have an ice-breaker ride and suss out if we need to split the team into sub-groups based on experience etc. We should be as inclusive as possible, IMO, and look to offer something for all those who post on here and have a love of the bike. Can I suggest that we get a list together of those who are interested - only an expression of interest at this stage, mind. I'll kick things off with my name. Could anyone who is interested cut and paste the existing list when you add your name so it is easy to keep track of numbers. Here goes.... Sarge Bullman
For anyone looking for a recommended saddle - classic racing unit San Marco Rolls Classic - many a Tour winner had their derriere parked on one of these. Not the lightest but seriously comfortable. I've been using the same one for almost 10 years and its still up to the job. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/selle-san-marco-rolls-saddle-with-steel-rails/?dest=1&curr=gbp〈=en&utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=uk&utm_content=Selle_San_Marco-Selle_San_Marco_Rolls_Saddle_with_Steel_Rails-White
monkeyblair
Drooper, could I suggest you set up a PM thread when we get this up and running, at least that way we will get E mail notifications on 'team' matters?
