Biggest tournament in senior non-league football, the South Challenge Cup concluded on Sunday, with East Kilbride defeating Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic in the final at Meggetland. Next season's tournament will sport a record entry of 70 clubs with the mighty Berwick Rangers entering the fold as well as Glenrothes. Selkirk went the way of all flesh.
South of Scotland League clubs toiled badly in 2018-19 managing just 2 victories, and both those were in all-South ties. Their aim will no doubt be to improve on that showing. In the early rounds a number of East of Scotland League clubs shocked Lowland opposition and they had 5-11 advance of clubs in Last 16. However by QFs it was 3-5 and SFs saw pair of clubs from each league. Glasgow Uni also enter.
Many clubs, established and newcomer, will no doubt be eyeing up a run in the trophy won thrice by East Kilbride and Spartans, twice by Whitehill and once each by Annan, BSCG, Civil Service and Stirling Uni.
