Places In Scotland With No Team
In light of Brora Rangers just missing out on the national leagues, that got me thinking about places/areas of at least a sustainable size in Scotland with no senior or even junior team. Brora is town of only about 1,800 and it's not the only place of that type of size with a Highland League side - Rothes is even smaller with only about 1,200. Here are the populations for clubs in the Senior leagues. Towns only represented by non-league clubs are in italics.Obviously the uneven spread of non-league clubs in the south leaves a number of areas uncovered (mainly in Strathclyde, Fife and Tayside).
Ross County are the smallest in SPFL. Whitehill Welfare are the smallest in the so-called professional game leagues.
East Kilbride are the largest outside SPFL. It and Paisley are the largest one-club towns respectively.
