The draw for the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round and Preliminary Round were made yesterday. According to the FA Cup web site 23 teams are making their first appearance this season. 181 ties in the Extra Preliminary Round to be played on 10 August and 160 ties for the Preliminary Round on 24 August. Basically where Klopp and Guardiola are wrong is claiming there are "more matches". There aren't... there are just more European and fewer domestic.
This was 1991-92's schedule... last season before EPL began. As it happens the Saturday dates are the same as this season. It's more crammed than it is today (no "winter break" either):
