Similar to the Richard Taylor signing really in financial terms, you'd imagine.
Robinson prior to the Hearts game was bigging him up in the press, then he had that unfortunate short lived minutes on the Saturday.
Could he be doing with a short loan move to boost his confidence and game time, or does Robinson think he can genuinely hit the ground running and play a part in our second half of the season?
It has been rumoured Brophy may be away this window, so maybe he's exercising his options that will be here longer.0 -

I'd like to think our valuation of Bacchus is at the very least 7 figures and hope that we will hold out for that. It's more realistic we would get that valuation this window, rather than the summer, when we are in the same position as we were with McGrath.
We also have the opportunity to sell Erhahon this window too. Whether he goes now or the summer, we will get the same value in dev fee. Dylan Reid also falls into the same bracket, though we would lose the ability to add a clause into the latter two if they hold off until the summer. Erhahon and Reid together can fetch us around 450-500k whether its now or in the summer.0 -

On the field we initially maintained the playing budget in line with the previous season but the signing of two players in the August Transfer Window and player bonuses took playing costs higher. A significant transfer deal collapsed on Deadline Day meaning that the increased playing costs could not be matched by the anticipated transfer income.
This is an interesting one. Assume this relates to the proposed transfer of McGrath to Hibs at the end of the January window and I assume the two inbound players it refers to were Ronan and Gogic?
Off the field there was a significant increase in the planned costs for the renovations at our Ralston Training Ground. This was largely caused by changes to the size and specifications of the new building.
I was at Ralston watching a youth game in September I think. I didn't notice anything particularly different about the set up. It still looked like a collection of Portakabins. Has that changed? Does anyone know exactly what it was we did at Ralston that cost so much?
What was the actual costings of Ralston renovations?

Leaving next window gives us the opportunity to negotiate a sell on fee which would be more valuable than the development fee.

We've gone a bit higher on player budget but we have a £ million of reserves.
Did we truly budget 7th? Or is that the aim? I suspect our budget is far lower than 7th compared to other clubs.
We're sitting among and competing with teams who will finish 3rd 4th etc and were having the best season we've had in many seasons.
We live in fear and finish in the bottom end or we invest and either reap the rewards or revisit things at the end of the season. Either way we are not going burst based on 1 or 2 seasons.
We sell someone as we often do, or perhaps a good cup run or higher placed finish means the world to our fan base and gives us extra for the future.
If not we take stock... I'm not worried. The team are playing the best football we've seen in years and the risk is manageable.
We are on the up... so long as we keep our heads screwed on and don't allow internal things to upset the applecart.

I personally know many of the current members and those who have resigned over the last couple of weeks and all I can say is this will be a huge loss. Behind the scenes since the takeover was in place with GS, they have played an important part in the transition of SMiSA evolving into a bigger organisation.

Exactly this! I said the same after the success of Dorman. Why did we not further pursue the MLS and lower US leagues for talent. Was it down to scouting range or something? Alex Grieve has also been a very good find.

He's come from nowhere to being trusted to play in 2 different positions across the middle of the park in one of the biggest halves in Australian football's history.

Really wouldnt be surprised to see him start the next game. He did very well in the time he had on the park and was getting into some. good positions at both ends of the park.
Could easily have been left out today due to the magnitude of the game, though he's been trusted to come on and make a difference. Well done to him for getting his head down and getting noticed.
This extra run also lets us coin in a little longer. Big ask to get beyond Argentina ,though certainly didnt disgrace themselves vs France.

Very good point made by Robbo in his Saints website interview.
If there is a handball from St Johnstone on the build up to the St. Mirren handball in the box, surely it has to be taken back from there and reviewed if its part of the attacking play? After all, that's how we got penalised a couple of weeks ago, when Baccus was alleged to have fouled the Dundee Utd player before Ayunga scored, resulting in goal chopped off.

Brophy in the short time he was on worked hard, pressed and closed people down, we need to see him get longer than 10 minutes here and there though.
That drop from the starting lineup may get the best back out of Ayunga, although we are about to close down for a month. When he's on his game, he's unplayable at times.
Unbelievable where Brophy is in terms of pecking order after being signed as our main striker. If his weekly is as rumoured, he is too much of a luxury to be 4th choice striker. I do think we are more likely to see goals from Grieve ahead of him.

I didn't think we were as bad as some are making out. I also don't think the tactical changes were the issue either, we went for it, we scored, we went back to the usual shape and were pretty comfortable really. Our big problem was players behaving stupidly. The time wasting wasn't necessary and just led to the ref going in the huff and playing till the Saintees scored. Also, I'm pretty sure the reason they were able to play the cross in so easily for the second was because O'Hara dived in for a ball that he wasn't going to take and just helped it on to the guy in space instead of keeping shape and closing him down, but I haven't seen that part back so maybe harsh.
At the end of the day, we are better off than we were this time last season. We are going through our roughest patch so far, and even then, we are two points off 3rd.
Can't argue with any of this. 2 points off of 3rd is some achievement at this stage in the season. Aberdeen at times have been similar to us, when you look at form up and down. Its a missed opportunity dropping two points when Saturday is as much as it pains me to say it, 'a free hit', where the odds are heavily against us. Hopefully we see us up our game as we did v Celtic.

For all the system can be blamed, it’s individual errors that cost the equaliser. Too much fannying about, trying to waste time then not closing the cross down that led to the goal. Individuals need to take responsibility.
Plus, Clark could attempt that another hundred times and not score.
Yeah, easy for loudmouths in the main stand to have a go at the manager, though individuals on the park need to look at their work rate to the final whistle. Thats what's cost us at the end of the day.
We were barely (if that) troubled all night by them going forward, then a lapse of concentration deep into injury time has cost us. The worrying thing is, there were plenty of our defensive players in the box when that ball got put in (tactically right to do so), so they were in a very good position to get that ball cleared and failed.

I don't think there will be a queue of clubs banging our door down in January to take a massively injury prone player off our hands and even if he's desperate to get some football again he's not going to budge unless it's for a similar wage.
Always going to be a compromise somewhere along the line but it's unlikely to be a cheap one.
7 sub appearances so far this season and I genuinely can't remember him contributing anything other than the pass for Greive to score the third at Tannadice.
He would need to move down south at very least for us to offload most of his wage if we were still needing contribute towards.
If we were looking to reluctantly cut our ties with our a transfer fee, then I think we possibly would, because as you say, who is going to pay a transfer fee never mind £3k a week for a player who has barely kicked a ball.

You are absolutely spot on though, I've never had any interest in sitting on either the SMiSA board or the club board (despite what the a certain podcaster seems to think), and that will never change.
Always happy to help the club and SMiSA in any way I can but that's where it ends.
Admire anyone who is willing to put themselves forward for these roles, tough gigs I would think!
It's a thankless task mate. Everyone at SMISA does their role on a voluntary basis. There are more hours of time involved than most people realise.

One of the biggest disappointments about Brophy other than his lack of goals was that he was offered a 3 year deal and was seen as a sellable asset off the back of his International recognition a year or two before signing for us. It now looks like we would reluctantly imo to save a wage, would let him move on to someone that is willing to pick up his wage on a free.
Agree with this. Gogic and O'Hara in centre midfield with Kiltie on at a later stage to bring a bit more of an attacking threat later in the game if needed.
I can see Flynn starting and not risking Strain if he's only just started training. Celtic on Weds may also be too soon to risk a key player.
