Jamie Barclay's the new club captain. Players make decisions at this time of year when sport approaches the close season. After his bro signed a new deal with Glasgow Warriors a couple of weeks back I was thinking that Danny staying at Shire would be a nice double but alas it wasn't to be lol. Still a few months yet but I'll wish him all the best when he does go. The Ashe clan are all decent folk. I'll miss blethering to his faither George (and the odd time brother Adam) at the games though.

Another howler from Scotland again. However Glasgow got a BP win so I'll focus on the positives

The ref and TMO have been wearing Scotland tops. Apart from that it's been yet another Shakespearean tragedy.

I was at the game last night. Quite possibly the perfect Glasgow performance. I loved it so much that I watched it again when I got home so never got to sleep till 4am. Ref was not great. Connacht's 2nd try is an example. I always thought that there had to be clear and obvious grounding for a try but there you go.

What I like about Duncan Weir is, whilst he's limited, he's a 'safe' 10. I.e. he doesn't attempt something mercurial and just provides a safe pair of hands. Finn, for all his majesty, can just about win you a game, but can just about cost you a game in equal measure lol.

The forward battle will be crucial. Unfortunately the collective French pack collectively weighs very nearly 1 tonne. On the other hand, our forwards are starting to come back which will allow us to front up more. I think our backs should be looking to burn gas regardless of who plays. The French team haven't really been playing as such and since they're so heavy wasn't there fitness issues mentioned at Twickers? Tough game but we should be aiming to play with flair and have too much pace for them. Teddy "Serge Blanco" Thomas being injured is also a boost for us.

I need to clear something up. Blowing massive leads twice was completely deliberate. All part of Dave Rennie's tactics. The game never finished 4 secs early either. Not at all. George Clancy's watch is final...

Yep. However they are rugby experts and they know more than the players and Dave Rennie put together...

I didn't know Tevita Tamelau had such gas to burn.

Harley's a great player at Pro14/European level. A squad player at best for Scotland though.

Number 12 Stafford McDowell missed the tackle on the touch line. He sprinted in from there.

Awful way to start the 2nd half. Stafford needs a rollicking as he should have made that tackle.

Grigg has been pulling the strings so far. Our speed has been phenomenal. I will take this at h/t BUT that 2nd try we gave away was poor. Missed tackles on the lead-up and allows Cardiff to close the gap at the break. Also, we should have a try bonus point at h/t. Steyn did a Sweeney Todd job with that knock-on. As a 7's player that should have been meat and drink with all that space he had.

When you jaunt up to the game thinking a BP win's a sure thing so are more bothered about what beers you'll be drinking after the game lolol.

Despite the internationalists missing and the injuries, I'd say that's a strong team. However, I'd have liked Niko in the squad. Winnable, however it's away and it may also depend on the Cardiff team that's fielded too.

Adam Ashe signs new 2 year deal. Absolute stalwart and a mystery as to why he's not been in the Scotland squad this 6N. If he stays around after that then surely he's got to be looked at as a possible club captain.

Napoleon Bonaparte could be their head coach just now and France would still be utterly honking. Some very sound posts on here regarding our game in Paris in a fortnight. We CAN win however we'll need to play to our best. Unfortunately, we are limited with the 4 big 6N teams also having far more depth and quality players. For Scotland to beat a Tier 1 nation except Italy (possibly Argentina too) we also heavily rely on the opposition to have a poor day. However, we have a huge chance in Paris. The French are traditionally strong at home but are in a serious dip and even lost to Fiji. At Twickers I've never seen France in such a mess since their revolution in the late 18th century.

I was at the Scotland game yesterday and a few things offended me: Romain Poite's performance. Get 3 tokens from boxes of Special K and become a top tier rugby ref. Hogg's injury and O'Mahony causing it. It should have been a yellow card and penalty. Seymour and Maitland's mess for the O'Mahony-gate try was like a very un-funny Laurel and Hardy sketch. How easily Ireland got their 2nd try. How easy Ireland got their 3rd try. Keith Earls got their 3rd try. Less basic mistakes are made in a P7 game than those made by Scotland today.

I like berghan tbh, I see Ire have now lost Ringrose and the lamppost Toner to add to Stander Tagdh Beirne and Iain Henderson are both out too. I hear Keith Earls is also doubtful...

1st half we made too many mistakes and the scrum was poor. We put the game to bed in the 2nd half with a BP but we took the gloss off the scoreboard with 3 Italian tries in the last 10 mins. It's just like watching Glasgow against the 'weak' teams. Put the game out of sight then just relax way too much and lose a few daft tries. However having Berghan in the bin for the last 10 didn't help matters. I met the Deacon Blue drummer Dougie Vipond in the Up and Under after the game. The queue to get in was mad.

Scottish and Falkirk fan so I win/lose Honourable shouts there but I'm Scottish and an East Stirlingshire fan.

Despite Warrenball I just thought Wales would offer more than a French team who's only real tactic was throwing a 1 tonne pack at the opposition. I stand corrected though...
