Its gonna be a huge boot in knackers for Morton fans if Tidser, as heavily rumoured, is heading to Firhill!!
Not really. Thistle are too cuddly a club to hold anything against, and as long as he doesn't sign for the midden I dont mind who he signs for. It would be interesting to see how he'd get on at that level. Thistle were worthy winners of the league last season, I'd wish Tidser all the best (although I'd much rather thistle come back down than county, I actually like away supports at cappielow).

what do morton fans think is the difference between promotion candidates last season to relegation candidates this season? surely cant just be tidser and macdonald leaving?
Tidser has been a huge miss for us. He was the driving force behind last season - selling him for £50k was a massively stupid thing to do. MacDonald also really helped us stay at the top, although he only started about half our games - similar situation with Hardie as well. The loss of MacDonald and Hardie explain why we aren't near the top, the loss of tidser explains why we're near the bottom.
The rest is down to smaller but significant differences. It was a season too far for McLaughlin. We miss the influence of rutkewiecz at the back and weatherson up front. We replaced a decent left back with a horror show of a left back. We failed to bring in a decent forward, and generally brought in players who are well below the required level.

I feel like someone should tell them...

Didn't really want to say "dead" trying to have a little class
Life is his project?
In any case it will take more than that to wrestle Morton away from the Raes...

Morton fans trying to make everyone believe they are relevant this season.
You've had 1 good season in my football supporting life (26 years) and are absolute nobodies with some of the worst facilities witnessed in 2013.
I seen a video of Falkirk winning at Cappielow in the late 80s and noticed how little Cappielow has changed ffs.
Once Rae gets bored of his project it's back to the seaside leagues where you and your park belong.
Nearly all of our seasons in the seaside leagues came under Rae, so I'm not quite sure that I follow your logic. And at 82 do you really think being bored with Morton will come before death at this stage?

I take it that means this thread has been given at least another year's extension as well then?

Not a chance IMO. Maybe if it was still the same situation as three or four years ago he'd be tempted by the opportunity to work with a really good budget, but now Rae's rightly stopped chucking money around and our budget is in line with the rest of the division there's simply nothing attractive about the Morton job to someone already managing in this division, regardless of the opportunity to go full-time. Like Hartley, Murray would be mental to come here rather than holding out for a Premiership job.
At the same time these guys also know that it's not sensible to stick around at a part-time club for too long. Managers like Hartley, Cameron, and Murray are getting as much out of the part-time clubs as possible at the moment, the reality is that the part-time clubs inevitably fall back to near the bottom of the table. The other problem is that it isn't common for top flight clubs to pick up a manager from a part-time team, giving them the first opportunity at managing a full-time club in the top league is a risk that many clubs aren't willing to take. Danny Lennon would seem to be the exception in recent years. How realistic is it for those 3 managers to believe that there is a top flight job just down the line for them?
The reality is that if Morton offer a good wage then there's a good chance that they would see it as an oppotunity to cut their teeth in full-time management. At this moment in time they know that guys like Grant Murray, Alex Neil, and Gary Holt have a better opportunity to prove themselves to bigger clubs. Unless they're really happy with their life managing a part-time team then at some point they know they have to take a risk - which will come either at one of the full-time lower league clubs or perhaps as an assistant at a higher level.
The big problem for Morton is that this certainly wouldn't be a cheap option (in terms of wage, compensation, and offering the funds for players to turn things around), and it would have been far easier to convince someone to join us at the end of last season. It's far more likely that Morton will pick up someone desperate to get back into management, or someone looking for their first job (if/when Moore leaves by mutual consent).

Can't see more than 20,000 turning up. Maybe a decent away crowd but just beware don't try and have fun . The Parkhead Stewards/Nazi's hate it and get very intimidated with large noisy away crowds, unless your draped in a Union flag and your knuckles scrape the pavement funnily enough.
Nothing better than beating the Old Firm at anything, especially at Hampden . Will be supporting the Ton big style here, if they play the way they did against us in the summer I think you have a chance.
I think you mean, if Celtic play the way St Mirren did against us in the summer we have a chance...

Considering Moore's record against teams from a higher division, especially away from home, this could be a bloodbath. Hopefully the second string Celtic side will be disjointed enough to let us off lightly, but I'm sure our master tactician will come up with a tremendous plan like he did against Motherwell, ICT, Dundee...oh dear
I'd expect the crowd to be about 15000, that seems about the usual for Celtic in the League Cup. I hate playing against either of the OF, at least it's not at home where the local fans of whichever the other team is come out and support their 'wee team' in numbers

Moore should have known exactly what he was getting when he signed Imrie. A talented player who isn't nearly as talented as he thinks he is, who had always struggled with consistency, and can't help but get on the wrong side of many around him.
Although, Moore perhaps had a blind spot in the case of someone who is so much like himself.

It's the wording that twitter feed uses, such as 'it is our understanding that x has agreed a contract', suggesting that you are in the know when in reality, you've just read the paper like the rest of us.
Additionally, I have not once seen that twitter feed citing a source for the information it provides. If you are going to give out the info, at least have the courtesy to state where the story has come from.
In fairness, when the national tabloids say that 'it is our understanding that x is signing for y' and so on, they don't let us know what they really mean is that someone said on P&B that 'x is signing for y'. They're just keeping up the usual standards of sports journalism.

Source?
I think it sums up the usual service on the official site that a number of hours after the signing had been announced on gmfc.net fans were still looking for a source for the news of the signing

Manager Steve Evans swooped over the weekend as it became clear that the player and his reps were already in England to discuss a transfer to another League One club. http://www.themillers.co.uk/news/article/millers-confirm-tidser-capture-894087.aspx
If he is to be believed, interest from more than one club yet we still only managed to get £50k. Terrible piece of business.

Without doubt he's worth more than 50k considering the value of other players on the market (just take a look at the amount Falkirk got for a couple of losers who are now rotting away in England). But with or without him, it was always going to be very difficult for Morton to win the league, probably moreso than last year considering the loss of other good players. In short, 50k is better than nothing, especially seeing as this is shaping up as a nothing season for Morton. They were never in a strong position to bargain for much more.
It's not exactly a nothing season with the financial incentive of being on the play-offs. Getting to the final will be worth a considerable amount of money to a team like us, and that's on top of the vastly improved prize money on offer. £50k for a player of Tidser's quality seems like a terrible deal in this respect.

That's convenient.
Also true. There's plenty of news articles about his groin injury that are easy to find. He was quite clearly struggling with it that night.

I wouldn't have paid 5p for this guy on the basis of the title decider at Firhill. You would expect a massive game to bring out the best players and he was ridiculously half hearted in everything he done that night.
He was injured. He would never have played if he wasn't so important to us, but wasn't fit enough to make an impact anyway (goes to show how much we relied on him). He didn't play again for us.

So, in reality, Morton valued him at £50K, the sum which would secure his signature for someone else.
The £80K figure is irrelevant. They might as well have 'valued' him at £14m, for all that would matter if they were prepared to accept much less.
In reality his value to us was decided by the whim of one man.

And he's off for 50k?
Our chairman, in a moment of particular inspiration, told the local rag that despite valuing Tidser at £80k, he'd sell him for £50k (out of respect for the player, apparently).
Any way you look at it, we have let the main reason we managed to finish in 2nd place last season go for an amount which doesn't seem at all beneficial to our chances of making much money from the new set-up in the coming season.

He brought a lot to the team, but if we bring in a balanced set of midfielders that will step upto the plate then Tidser's goals and assists can be replicated at least if not bettered.
Finding a whole midfield of decent players seems just as unlikely as finding a direct replacement for Tidser.

We had apparently been in for him as well and offered him terms but he was looking for a 2 year deal. Something we haven't offered to a player in quite a while.
He won't be joining us either then.

Eagle vs Shark- 7.5/10
Funny film in the same sort of style as Napoleon Dynamite, except set in New Zealand. Alot of laugh out loud moment in the first half hour or so then the film has abit of a lul then gets funny towards the end again. Altho a couple of times I thought it was trying too hard to be like Napoleon Dynamite. Also stars the guy from flight of the conchords, so if you like that then you'll prob enjoy this.
I quite liked it too, nothing particularly great or ground breaking about it, but full of funny moments, and really quite a sweet film (especially with the whole apple thing, if you're a bit of a softy like me ). 7.5 seems about right.

Juno - 9/10 - Funny throughout, great cast too.
The Illusionist - 6.5 - The extra half mark is for Ed Norton. Didn't quite manage what it set out to do,but entertaining enough.

Sweeney Todd - 9/10
Pure entertainment with a dark side.
Eagle vs. Shark 7/10
Slightly annoying at parts, but funny and heart-warming enough to make up for that.
Superbad - 6/10
Plenty of funny soundbite type moments that make up for a pretty poor film.

Rotherham fans seem to think that they're well stocked in that area (hence why tidser has hardly played), could be that they're looking to shuffle the squad about a bit and get someone in for a different position. Or it's just a baseless rumour, that's always likely.
