I don't think Wighton has done enough the last few weeks to deserve a start today. If we're going to carry on with the recent hoofball, he's even less useful.
Gold and Chris Hamilton in midfield and push McKenna further forward.

I think we have to acknowledge that the gulf between the Premiership and the Championship has never been so large so a flying Champ team vs a struggling Prem team still massively favours the latter.

Greig Millar IIRC
Was Marc McCulloch.
Greig Millar could shift, just had trouble when it came to kicking a ball.

A bit out of left-field, as was Sam Ford.
I wonder when they'll actually get thrown into the action as it's impossible to ease them in. They're going to have to hit the ground running to make an impact.

Please never play Chris Hamilton at centre half. He’s 5’8” on a good day. He competes like mad for headers in midfield and seldom wins one.

Also remember that Ricky Little’s short for that position too so we would have been very compromised.
Could have possibly played Hammy or JT as centre half to enable Henderson to play in central midfield with Low, Linn on the left and McKenna right.
Doesn’t matter now though as it’s history.
Missed my point.
It's very rare to score headers in open play when playing into a wind like that. The trouble we had from Accies in the 2nd half was from balls being sent in behind our defensive line and they were on the end of them quicker. I think Hamilton would have offered better cover for those types of balls.

Nicky Low is a bit wasted on the flank but he's a good enough player to influence the game from out there. Of the starting lineup, I don't think there was anyone more suitable to play out there. 2nd half the ball was bypassing him though.
However, as well as he played at centre-half, I would have stuck Henderson out there and moved Chris Hamilton to centre-half for the 2nd half with TOB off. When you have that kind of wind at your back, it's less important to have big guys at the back and more about having pace so you can play a high line.

I’d kick your head in so probably not a good idea.
Makes it a better idea, if anything.

Can we not discuss the wind or January signings? Is Ash Taylor any good? Pundits (!) used to slaughter him when he played for Aberdeen.
What gender were these pundits?

Can tell which ones are drinking gin.
Depressingly boring people with no chat.

The men and women are all mediocre commentators to be honest.
The ones championing the female commentators are doing so because they have such low expectations of women, that them being equally mediocre as men surprises them.
Pure sexism and it wouldn't surprise me if they are racist in the same way. It's probably these people who have kept Garth Crooks (who is objectively awful at punditry) in a job.
On a par with Hitler, Stalin, Obama and Sturgeon, this lot.

Raith fans should give their season tickets to opposing club fans every fortnight.

You do have to wonder at the cost/benefit analysis done ahead of this signing. Surely the RR board underestimated the "cost" which is (within a day or so) both reputational and financial. He'd have to play like Cristiano Ronaldo week in, week out for the benefit to come even close to the cost.
I'm guessing that, because he'd played for another club, the RR board might have thought the 'heat' associated with DG had dissipated.

Anything over 15mph has a major effect on the game, over 25mph ruins it as a spectacle and 35mph is goal kicks coming back to the keeper.
It's forecast for 50+mph at kickoff. They'd have to be wildly wrong for this game to be playable.

2 things tend to happen with this tactic.
You get closed down too quickly and give possession away.
You play it about the back and the centre-half just blooters it up the pitch anyway.

The only other person I've seen try the short passes out the back and persist with it even though it causing all kinds of problems is Peter Grant.
I can now see why Darvel are not scooshing that league.

Mind the days when there were Berwick Rangers fans calling for those Angus diddies to merge?
Haven't heard much about that for a while. Huh.
Outstanding bump.

It won't happen but if DC goes into the match with this type of attitude then he's a fool. Darvel are nae mugs.
I'm sure they're not mugs and we will treat them with respect but there's no reason for us to be going into this game intimidated by their squad.

Normally I'm well up for the cup but there's a much bigger picture to look at now.
Any players in need of a break should get one and get some minutes in for Henderson, Gold, Swankie, Hilson and Wighton.
Darvel have some players that have played at a decent level but they're playing absolute dreck every other week and it's nearly impossible for that not to damage the sharpness of a player.
By the way, £17 seems a bit steep for this.

We're going to need some big performances tomorrow to take something from this game. Wighton (if he plays) and Hamilton will offer the Raith defence a different challenge than Dowds and Nouble (who they dealt with far better than any other defence in the league)

I thought Moffat did well in a game he was quite isolated. The number of overhit passes we hit from back to front in the first half was largely thanks to him pressing from the front and not giving our defenders the time to set themselves for playing the ball.

No variation to our play really. Under no illusions that we play direct football, but it's dependent on getting to the 2nd ball. We're generally very good at it. Today, our midfield was non-existent first 30 mins and we had no end product in the 2nd half. A few glimpses from Nouble when he drifted wide but, again, final ball was poor.
Ayr, on the other hand, had little of the ball in our third yet scored (even if it was a comedy of errors) and forced Gaston into 2 brilliant saves.
Frustrating way to end a good run but hopefully the return to fitness of Nicky Low will help us mix our play up a bit.

Will Muirhead play centre mid?
I thought his introduction in the meeting at Somerset earlier in the season changed the game in Ayr's favour.

We could, but if this happens, then Gav is likely not to get a shirt
Most squads operate with players not getting a shirt every week.
What we don't want is a player spitting the dummy when they don't get picked.

That's another tough watch. Really seeing the hole that Nouble has left over the last two games.
