The fact I have hardly seen the last 2 posters on here before is encouraging. Maybe there is intelligent life out there after all. Genuinely had nothing against Cowdenbeath before reading some of the condescending shite posted by a few of your fellow supporters and board members recently

This greatly offends me (if I'm correct in assuming you mean me). I've been here far too long and I'm definitely not intelligent.

  2. 'Rubbing everyone's noses in it'

Come on man. Even a blinder than blind man can see pretty much every comment from any of our support regards the matter should be taken with a pint full of salt. Is banter now not acceptable?

I guarantee if you asked every Cowdenbeath supporter if we felt like we deserved an invite on merit, every single one would say no. Of course we don't, as was the case with the Viaplay last season.

I really didn't think the above needed pointed out, but here we are.

  3. The man is a p***k. Very very rarely do I not support anything/anyone Scottish in anything but I'm really not bothered about the outcome. I do think it'll be a cracking fight though.

MK says, here comes the stadium:

East Kilbride winning promotion would spark new stadium and top Darvel's win over Aberdeen, says Mick Kennedy

East Kilbride boss Mick Kennedy has revealed winning promotion to League Two would finally spark the construction of a long-awaited £4.5m new stadium in the town.

Plans for a new stadium go back to 2016 when an East Kilbride News-backed campaign involving Rangers legend and EK's famous son, Ally McCoist, urged councillors to give the go-ahead to a 4,000-seater stadium in Langlands.

The blueprint for the facility was given the green light but Kilby have been holding off on the club reaching League Two to put the first spade in the ground. Eight years later, that could finally come to fruition if East Kilbride defeat Stranraer in the second leg of the pyramid play-off final on Saturday.

Kilby are one game away from glory after the sides drew 2-2 at K-Park in last week's first leg and if they pull it off, the club will be celebrating the start of a new era in a new stadium.

Appearing on the Scottish Football Show podcast, Kennedy said: "The owners' plan is to build a £4.5million stadium as soon as we reach League Two and K-Park will become the club's training base, so there are massive plans there in terms of infrastructure and investment.

"It is just up to myself, Simon [Ferry, his assistant] and the players to do it on the pitch.

"In terms of what the club could do on the pitch, the club could go into League Two and be a well-established part-time club at that level. But I think you need to earn the right to be there and, unfortunately, the club have fell short on a number of occasions over the last 10 years."

Kennedy, who masterminded Darvel's famous win over Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup last season, joined Kilby at the start of the season and led them to the Lowland League title in April.

And he says taking the club to the SPFL for the first time would surpass his cup shock over the Dons.

He added: "People have asked me if it would be bigger occasion than beating Aberdeen and I think for what it would mean to the people of East Kilbride, the owners and me on a personal level, I certainly think it would be. It would be so significant."

    Oh dear how sad

Was a surprise appointment but could be a positive one. A manager has to start somewhere.

He has experience of the Lowland League as Assistant at Kelty and playing this season. He will also have a good knowledge of the current squad. There is also the added bonus of him being able to play at stages throughout the season.

Hopefully recognise what is required as we do have talent in the current squad and with a few additions, we can improve again next season.

    This.

Realistically, who did we really expect to get? The one most of us probably wanted is doing a grand job at Civil Service and likely not atall interested, so this appointment is pretty pleasing.

Plenty positives as stated by SB above and an element of continuity with Dougie being involved half the season. He's also a cracking guy and pretty sure he'll have excellent relationships with folk from other clubs up the leagues which will hopefully help in the loan market. In all honesty, it's not like he's a rookie going into a Premiership job or similar, it's an excellent base to start off I'd say.

That all said, I really hope we don't rely on him playing too many minutes.

    Fairly chuffed at this.

  6. Has it been confirmed Zac is leaving us? Very disappointed if so. A potential match winner at this level unless played out of position...

This season HAS been far better than last season for me (which wasn't hard in fairness). We've had some excellent performances over the course although far too many times not leaving with the amount of points we really should have gained. Had we held on to those multiple leads particularly in the first half of the season, we'd have had some excellent momentum to carry with us and naturally we'd be closer to the summit of the league table. Unfortunately we became far too predictable in that we'd lose extremely soft goals, a lot of the time from simple crosses. Infuriating really.

Personal favourite matches have been the two home games V Linlithgow and the Hearts B away game. Also really enjoyed Kilwinning away in spite of the game not being great. On the flip side, the Berwick games a few weeks ago is genuinely one of my worst experiences watching Cowden even compared the Bonyrigg games. I love the guy, but seeing an ancient Dougie Hill bounce up the park late in the game through our midfield made my eyes bleed for about the 12th time that day.

I know it's a bit of if my aunty had balls she'd be my uncle, but with that momentum and a higher points tally going into the final stages of the season, I think Calum may well still have been at the club due to still having a bit of enthusiasm for next season. Just look at the start he's made in his new job.

I know it's only til the end of the season but I see no reason why Stevie Crawford wouldn't want to be the gaffer next season too. A bit of continuity would be good rather than starting afresh again. He's hugely experienced and a decent guy to boot. I'd be happy with him at the helm.

f**k me it's an experience being a Blue Brazilian.

  7. I like Calum. Sure it didn't work out how we all hoped it would this season but I'd rather have seen him get another go at it next season.

Alas, I good move for him and wish him nothing but the best. But if he tries to pinch Zac I'll find his house and 💩 on his doorstep.

  8. Calum was in the new stand for the most part. We were absolutely rotten yesterday. Probably the worst performance since the last time Berwick came and dished out a pumping. Literally can't add to anything already said but the defending was farcical. Honking. Even the goal we scored came from a goalkeeping brain fart.

I believe a few players are carrying various niggles etc but it doesn't excuse how brutal we actually were. Berwick didn't do much wrong atall and were very efficient in their work wothout being spectacular. They gave their decent and vocal support a great day out.

    Awful awful awful.

  9. New grounds and new teams to play is decent enough. A novelty if you will and there are a surprising amount of teams with few resources but manage put a decent side on the park. But it doesn't excuse this league of being an absolute shambles and that's without including the nonsense of the B teams.

We've hardly set any records of having a large support in many years, but there's a number of sides with pretty much zero supporters. It's absolutely no contest compared to being in League 2 or above so I can't agree with it being 'not bad' here. It's absolutely honking.

That said, teams such as Linlithgow and Boness are a welcome addition and expect over the next 2 or 3 years that it will be slightly more competitive with a number of decent sides looking to come up and indeed fall down from L2.

What it does do is provide an opportunity for teams/individuals/consortiums to do an EK or a Kelty, by throwing a ludicrous amount of money at a squad in order to move up the ladder. Unless there's 1 or 2 other teams doing the same thing, there will be no contest for top spot. It is what it is.

  10. Really really enjoyed the episode with the ambassadors. Broony was probably my first Cowden hero, great to hear him (and the other guys) speaking so fondly about his time at the club.

The episode with the gaffer was decent too however the sound was atrocious unfortunately. I assume it was done in his office but the background noise was almost unbearable at times.

Good win today on paper, happy with the 3 points. Fair play to whoever made the trip through to it.

  11. The officiating throughout every single level in this country is absolutely dreadful. This league along with the 'officials' is an absolute abomination though.

In saying that, we can't blame the officials for our league position. Yesterday is not one we can expect to win, never mind compete but our position in this league is extremely poor, no getting away from that.

  12. Very happy with the contract extensions so far. Building a very decent nucleus going into next season but the big one for me is Zac. I'd be shocked if other clubs aren't sniffing around though. He's a proper talent.

Anyone know what Craig Barr is upto these days? Is he playing atall? Also Craig Thompson - seems to ha e vanished off the face of the earth. Just interested that's all.
