  1. I reckon the SG will look to keep the restrictions longer with the hope that they can lift them more effectively and with less risk of having to re-impose again but they must be getting close to that point where the current level of restriction is not going to be accepted/ followed by the majority.

I do think that face masks in enclosed spaces and on transport will remain for the rest of the year and some steps like the sanitation stations in shops should be kept anyway.

Edited to add: I know the news picked up on it last night but the fact that Falkirk and Clackmannanshire are apparently around 40% up on their 7 day figures for cases wont help get things lifted either

Do we have guaranteed supplies to remain at 45k plus daily?

I had assumed that's why there was a 'stockpile' - to ensure a regular roll out of the vaccine over time as opposed to chucking it at folks and running out.

Douglas Ross especially seems to have a bit of difficulty in understanding that there is a need to ensure ongoing supply which is why you keep a reserve.

Mid Feb target not hit - 'Disgraceful!'

Mid Feb target hit almost exactly - 'They purposefully only worked at a rate to meet the target. They could have done more!'

Mid Feb target exceeded - 'Why was the target not even more ambitious!'

Sounds about right but i'd expect nothing less from any opposition party in government regardless of what was going on

Don’t have the press conference on but does “senior pupils” just mean those at high school? What about p4-p7 children?

All I’ve read is p1-3 will return full time and “senior pupils”  part time.

Half good news for us - the one in P3 will go back but the P6 one still home, not sure how thats any safer 😀

Also, being in Edinburgh it means the P3 one will have a week of home learning after half term before heading back. Hopefully it'll happen but i'll believe it when i see it

  5. I thought that impeachment was the only way to stop him running again? The 25th wouldn't have done that, just removed him at this time - it can also be a lengthy process due to appeals etc.

Pence likely rejected it as it would have been mental to try and invoke that given the GOP base but also as it would be useless with the time remaining. The fact that it was voted for him to act was quite symbolic but i think the impeachment will go through and likely be timed in such a way that it can be actioned in part now with most of it in a few months so the Donald would be out of office, Biden would've got his COVID relief stuff done and his folks sworn in.

Also noticed Deutsche Bank cutting ties with the orange one, wonder how long till be see some strategic bankrupting of companies he's tied to? No way he's paying back the $340m due..

  6. Didn't see Gove on Sky but why the chat about March now? Not a word about that said earlier on when he was interviewed (which maybe i missed).

Is ScotGovs approach to see where we are near the end of Jan as they were hoping to stop this new spread from fully kicking off? I always expected the kids to be at home till the Feb half term but i'd have expected a tier 4 approach after that for a while as opposed to full closures across the whole country.

  7. There was a video online two weeks ago or so and it was Trump and some Republican big wig/ legal guy giving a speech...when it finished and they were walking away chatting the guy with Trump just stopped and stared at him while Trump went on...can't help but wonder if that was Trump telling him he was going to try this card as (possibly literally)  get out of jail...

I remember the comments at the time being very much of the 'what did Trump say to make him act like that...', wish i could find the clip now!!

The silence from many top Republicans could be interpreted as giving Herr Drumpf some extra time to do the decent thing given relatively few senior Republicans (Guiliani, Gingrich and Graham) have been actively backing his electoral fraud narrative. Suspect the slow pace of some of the counting has also been about hoping he would concede graciously and take the heat off, but now they'll just have to plough on regardless and hope they don't wind up with Alex Jones and a posse of gun-totting rednecks outside.

I'm sure Graham came out and said he's giving $500,000 to the fighting fund to help his legal challenges? Guiliani was going off on one in Pennsylvania as well so they've not been quiet but they're definitely getting less vocal (for now!)

When Trump was claiming victory on his first speech, Pence said something like "we fully expect to be winners", which was a definite change of tone. Absolutely no idea if that change in tone will be representative of the rest of the Republicans or even some. I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'd seen that speech and though there was a bit of a change in tone from him but he's been conspicuous by his absence since...not a peep from Barr either which is strange if there had been so much cheating going on....

  10. Has Mike Pence actually said anything? Surely they must be trying to get him to give it up now...Can't seen Pennsylvania being within the recount tolerance when they're finished counting.

I'd be surprised if Biden gives a speech of victory today...maybe tomorrow, he'll want to have as little to come back on him given the recounts and challenges ahead

That 2% left thing isn't reliable, it turns out. We don't really know how many are left. If Biden is winning them 2-to-1 there needs to be 40,000 left, and we just don't really know. I don't think the people running the count do either.

...there is apparently 40,000 votes left in Georgia luckily enough.

    Fun times ahead

Would someone just count some votes please? I swear the numbers haven't moved for about 12 hours now.

I watched CNN earlier and the guy at one of the counts in Atlanta said that whilst they were counting over night they had to wait on a vote commission (or something like that) ratifying the numbers and they were at set times - next one there was at 10am EST so there is likely to be a few updates before 5 our time from places and then a wait again. Think Nevada said 9am their time as well...
