If Livi do now go bust, could Airdrie and Cowdenbeath go back down????? If they can promote teams as easy can they relegate them too!???
No, the SFL have made it clear in the event of Livi's demise that the third division would operate with nine clubs.

Since Stranraer faced their problems last season, I have found it hard to enter into the usual Queens - Stranraer banter. I think I'm suffering from something similar to Stockholm syndrome.
I know what you mean. I even donated some money to the cause. I'm pleased to see them still in business.

If there's an appeal, and I imagine there will be, you could find all the games involving us, Cowden and Airdrie being postponed for the time being which is particularly unfair to the two teams who haven't been punished.
..and their opponents. This decision should have been reached last week. Let's just hope that an appeal is not lodged.

The SFL have surprised me once again. I cannot help but think that Rankine and McDougall backed the SFL into a corner over the past week. It has now rebounded on them quite spectacularly. However, I am sure we have not heard the last of this episode. Will they appeal? What Livi fans now need is a clear statement from Rankine and McDougall that they are in it for the long haul; without it, the club will die.
Edited so that it made some sense.

Rankine and McDougall will have to come up with an alternative business plan. I wonder what that will be like:
1. Stick with the club and cut your cloth accordingly, or
2. Bail out and let Livi die.
Naturally, there will be an appeal but I cannot see any other options for the club and their two shining knights in white armour.

To be fair, I didn't say they weren't in their right to feel bitter.
Harsh punishment would be anything over 15 points or relegation, in my opinion. You have to remember that we had a reasonable level of debt before the Madsone debacle.
Aren't you worried that a 10-15 points deduction will see Rankine and McDougall withdraw their offer?

I'm personally a lot less positive about tommorow's outcome. If it really is a representative from every club, I personally see there being a lot of bitter clubs who will be out to give us a harsh punishment.
I'd prefer fair-minded to bitter. We'll just have to wait and see. What do you consider to be a 'harsh punishment'?

Time the SFL brought in a similar rule to impose some financial reality on clubs.
That's really the point, isn't it. The SFL are just making it up as they go along. It beggars belief that we find ourselves in this situation a mere few days away from the start of the league campaign. Last Thursday's shenanigans has left the SFL with little room for manoeuvre tomorrow. If I was a betting man, I'd expect no punishment to be given but there has been much disquiet since the initial decision was reached to support Livi's new backers. Does the SFL have the balls to impose a points deduction?

Congratulations Reina and Mr Reina. It sounds like quite an eventful birth! Mrs MB does not fancy a third degree tear. Sounds painful, but I'm sure baby Callum is worth it.
Hope all goes well with Mrs G Man at the hospital tomorrow. Not too much longer to go now.

Why's that?
Waffen probably has him mixed up with someone else. I do remember someone posting on it that had been due money, pretty sure it wasn't Duncan though **
** Too hungover to bother checking
It may be Alibi, a Morton fan who lives in Dumfries, as someone mentioned earlier in the thread. The issue here is not Duncan Freemason, but the SFL and Livingston. There really is no point in sidetracking the thread.

Look at all the possibilities and drive yurself nuts, or, do what I did.
Enjoy the baby and then ask.
Turned out good for me.
Thmem women might be bitches but nurture babies.
shame they no consider us that do all the worrying! lol
I don't think I'm that worried, but come the moment of truth who knows what I'll be like! Just think, at some point in the next few weeks there will be a little baby in my house and I'm supposed to help look after it! I think that'll be scary, but I can't bloody wait for it.

Does that limit your options during labour much? I assume the birthing pool would be out with a drip in (although I can actually see that that shouldn't follow, I think policy would rule it out). Would they administer the ABs in a birthing centre or at home or does it have to be IV? I don't know a think about it.
It has to be IV, or at least that's the impression we have. The antibiotics have to be administered every four hours, so a water birth is possible if the hospital allows it. I think the ABs can be administered at home, but the advice will always be to go into the hospital. We didn't consider a home birth and my wife's not really bothered about the birthing pool either (but has not ruled it out completely). Is it not possible to get IV injections at home? Sorry if that's a stupid question!
Do they retest then before the due date to see if it's necessary? No. You can be strep b free a week before labour and then it could be back during the big day itself.
There is an excellent leaflet here and I think p24 answers most of your questions.

Jesus! Fairly serious potentially then. I can only presume the wife was tested for it and didn't have it then because I don't ever recall it being mentioned to us and she wasn't on anti-biotics during labour so far as I am aware.
All the very best of luck with that.
Cheers. It was very very scary at first, but we've been assured that there shouldn't be anything to worry about! The fact is that plenty of women will carry Strep B without realising it and the vast majority of babies do not get an infection. Hospitals do not test for it; Mrs MB had a swab taken for some other potential problem that turned out to be nothing, but it did turn up Strep B. I'll certainly be keeping an eye on my watch just to make sure she gets the antibiotics every four hours.

My wife has not had any swabs taken as far as im aware as she is only 20? Would that be right? Or am i talking poo?
I don't think women get regular smear tests until they're at least 25, unless they're on the pill in which case they should be tested for cervical cancer etc every 3 years or so.

Ok sorry for asking MB but what signs did Mrs MB have when you found this out?
No need to apologise, I don't mind. There are no signs. When she had a swab taken a good few months ago, it was found. There are no symptoms and it is completely harmless for the carrier. It can be a problem for the baby if the bacteria is in the birth canal.
I should have added that it can come and go, and she may well not be a carrier now.

Might aswell ask, What is Strep B?
Asked wife and she has no clue either, i tried looking it up but i still dont understand what it means.
I'm sure someone else could explain it much better than me, but here goes. Group B Streptoccocus is a common bacteria carried by many men and women. Estimates suggest that perhaps as many as a third of women carry it in their intestines. It is completely harmless, unless it is also to be found in the vagina and comes into contact with the baby during birth. Many babies come into contact with the bacteria during labour with no ill effects whatsoever. Many women will carry the bacteria but will not have a clue about it. In some cases, however complications can result after birth and the baby can be infected, e.g. the baby can contract meningitis. To prevent this risk, women can be administered antibiotics intravenously during labour. This must be done every four hours. Mrs MB and the baby (when it eventually arrives) will be monitored in hospital for 48 hours after birth.
I hope that helps and if I haven't explained it very well perhaps someone with more than 'internet' knowledge and a couple of brief discussions with a midwife will help me out.

I'd have to concede I've never heard of it.
Either had I until a few months ago. If you're interested, have a look here. It just means that my wife will have to have antibiotics administered intravenously at four hourly intervals at the onset of labour.

So was I at first but in the end better for baby and I wasn't all that hung up on a water birth or that. I saw a baby who'd contracted strep b menegitis at 2 weeks old and has been left with 4 limb cerebal palsy.
That must have been pretty harrowing. I've done a lot of reading on it and I guess we're just lucky that we actually know about it in advance. There must be plenty of women with strep b who haven't got a clue.

There is more chance of me starting up front for Queens next week, than there is Livi being relegated.
So you're not the 'mystery' striker?

I'm I the only one who didn't bother with the 'parentcraft' classes?
We only went to one class called 'Labour in Motion'. It was mainly about how to relax in the latter stages of pregnancy. Mostly common sense stuff.
The name put me off. I also didn't bother getting a tour of the ward. I already knew that because of the strep b that I'd have to be in the labour ward on a drip so no point doing the tour. As for my birthing plan it read "What ever the midwife and doctors say"My wife also has strep b. She's a bit disappointed not to be in the midwifery led unit.

Ah, of course it was! I went back and had a search through the last few pages but I don't think I went far enough.
I've always said August is probably the worst time of year to be heavily pregnant. I don't envy her one bit! Good luck when it comes.
Thanks for your best wishes. She is starting to get thoroughly fed up and the sooner D-Day comes the better.

It's a slightly surprising thing for Kenny Black to say and an even odder headline for the Scotsman to go with considering his Chairman is head of the Leage Management Committee that made the decision.
I am sure I heard that Ballantyne, having a vested interest (Airdrie's potential promotion), was not party to the decision reached. Perhaps it shows just how divided the SFL clubs are on the Livingston situation. It is still an interesting and quite provocative headline, however.

Paul Martin article from the Daily Rantic
Kenny Black piece in the Scotsman
I reckon they'll be more to follow from other clubs in the next few days. It's far from over.
There is now a BBC article that combines the views of Paul Martin and Kenny Black.

You are preaching to the converted. The penny is gradually dropping on a larger scale though, albeit at a slower rate but it is getting there.
I sincerely hope so because good football fans deserve a good football club.

You seem very bitter and clearly have little understanding of Airdrie's financial situation. Airdrie, unlike Livingston, have been living within their means for quite some time. That might help to explain why they got 'relegated' last season.
