  1. Why are you called Clacher are you somewhat confused? If you have learning difficulties forgive me for asking a stupid question!! I was a caley fan first and foremost and hated the old firm, caledonian was my one and only team!! To be honest i know off very few howdenders who now attend ICT games,i for one haven't and NEVER will!!!!! Maybe the caley fans you are speaking about were the ones that sat with the traitors in the stand
  2. Think it could be argued Caledonian were already first division standard while still in the HFL along with a few of the others top HFL sides Don't see why they couldn't have achieved as much if not more than Ross County All ifs and buts i know but Caledonian in the third division or even still in the HFL would still be more appealing than what ICT offer in the SPL
  3. We were just talking about the old days like the Airdrie game etc Sound bloke Wad is probably as fit now as he ever was, played amatuer football against chunkie, steve and roddie Not many keepers can say they have saved a roddie davidson penalty so i'm there in the elite few
  4. This thread needed a bump as its gone very quiet lately Where are all the ex blues players these days? I'll start it off,i took in a Muir of Ord game in the North Caledonian league a while back Big Herchie is the assistant/co manager and Davie Brennan was playing Also had a chat over a beer with Hamish Morrison in a Dingwall pub after a Ross County game recently Any more sightings?
  5. I played a number of times against Caledonian in the amateur league, remember one particular game six or seven years ago, it was a cup semi final on a friday evening and we were winning one nil with one minute to go and they equalised with the last kick of the game Totally gutted as it meant a further 30mins Extra time meaning we would be even later in Finlays Just for the record there were no further goals and we got beat 5-4 on pens If my memory serves me right they played in a top that was similar to Blackburn Rovers
  6. Corbett for me too,Doc certainly was a legend a real winner on the park as a player but unfortunately struggled as manager To be fair to Sergei it was never going to be easy managing the side in the ill fated last season The management, players (well some of them) and all the fans suffered greatly due to what was happening off the park and this certainly had a knock on effect
  7. To be fair PRS think you have more memories than myself I started supporting the Caley in the mid/late eighties when i was a youngster First real memory was our last league championship win, unbelievable to think at that time in the late eighties that it would be Caleys last ever The scottish cup games were also very memorable especially all the victories The 2-2 game against Airdrie at broomfield when they were leading the first division, they equalised in injury time to take the game to a replay Then came the replay at Telford St on a cold snowy evening, again we matched them in every department and drew 1-1 aet Penalties it was and Hamish Morrison sent the Caley fans wild with celebration after saving their last penalty Unbelievable atmosphere that night in the Howden end and that will live with me forever A couple years later we hammered Stenhousmuir 1-4 away from home then beat Clyde 3-1 at home, remember the abuse dished out to Frank McGarvey that afternoon Then the 2-2 Draw with St Johnstone at Telford St which was an unbelievable result considering they were a premier league side at the time The replay was another memorable occasion ok we were defeated 3-0 but we still played some good football and certainly never disgraced ourselves, quite an amazing support Caley had that night with 4500-5000 travelling down the A9 Can also remember the bigger scottish cup defeats but not so clearly 1 The 0-6 defeat to Rangers at Telford St 2 The 6-0 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle 3 The 3-0 defeat to St Mirren at Love St Have to mention the Jags never thought i'd say this but i miss them now too, always loved the derbies with them at Kingsmills and Telford St,(When did they last win a league game at Telford st was it in the sixties?? How much abuse did fat jim calder take over the years? Apart from the jags though always enjoyed the games against Ross County and Elgin city Always good games that attracted good crowds Unfortunately theres lots of bad memories too mainly though in the final season 1993/1994 which to be honest i'd rather not go into as i would be typing for hours Very sad end to a great football club but the memories live on Caledonian FC RIP
  8. Never thought of that option, would even help rebuild Currys at the Dump
  9. Great thread!!!! Still brings a tear to the eye travelling down Telford St remembering what was once there Great players(Urquhart,Wilsie,Lisle,Mann,Davidson,Wad etc Christie sometimes when he could be bothered) The Howden End,probably what i miss most, the atmosphere and the general banter, some great characters in there, always wonder where they all are now On a LSM a first class fanzine still like to take a nostalgic read of them now and again, unfortunately i only seem to have 8 or 9 of them, sure i had all 17 at one point Great to see The Caley haven't been forgotten and they still live on in the memories of fellow howden enders God Bless The Caley
