Seen a few folk worrying that Robbo saying he's only looking for one centre mid, one forward with pace and a now signed keeper.

That's not the case though. He's said those are the priority positions he's looking to fill ASAP and then he'll take a look at what we can add on top of this.

I'd imagine another centre mid and a minimum of a left sided centre half would also be on his list on top of those for a total of six new faces in.

I think we’ll sign 2 midfielders, a left sided central defender and a forward

maybe even a left back if we sell Sutherland

In addition to any players brought in, I'd hope that players like Fraser Taylor, Ethan Sutherland and Luke Kenny can be more involved with the first team next season.

Seems like they all did well on loan so hopefully they can push their way into contention.

Sutherland might be the replacement for Jaden Brown as Scott Tanser’s deputy

Gallagher Lennon was also playing left back with Dumbarton I noticed

Luke Kenny will be 21 shortly, I find it strange we’ve offered him a new deal unless he’s going to be in the first team squad

likewise, Taylor is at an age that he must either be involved with the first team otherwise what’s the point of keeping him

  3. I’d don’t really see many others that Clarke could have picked

Maybe Ryan Fraser but he’s now in the Championship, not playing regularly and probably burnt his bridges previously

With the injury doubts and / or lack of minutes for Hanley & Cooper there was maybe a case for Dom Hyam or Liam Lindsay - but they have no international experience and Clarke is staying loyal

I agree with you but that hasn't stopped the Germans (and I think someone else) naming 4 keepers. England also named 4 today though I'd presume Trafford will be dropped by the time it's trimmed to 26.

Didn’t realise some countries were picking 4, seems overkill to me when they can just be replaced.

Then again, the 4th choice might not want to come along just for the ride, especially if they are an experienced keeper?

If Scotland go with 3 plus a standby, I wonder if Craig Gordon would be happy to come along for the ride? I doubt it. And if Kelly is dropped to 4th choice then I’d imagine he won’t be happy

Now I actually think it would only work if you brought along a young keeper.

I’ve now talked myself into thinking that Clarke will name 4 keepers in the 26 😂

There are 23 stick ons so I think there will be one more to cover the right back issue.  Palmer, O'Donnell or someone similar.  Really hope he doesnt go with 4 goalkeepers, think that would be a waste of a pick.  Leaves space for 1 possibly 2 wildcards, a bit talk of a Doak (is he fit) or Barron (not seen enough of him)

Can Clark pull a Barnes or a Livramento out the bag, not that we should be begging these guys to play for Scotland but even one of them would give us a lift / spark going into the warm up games / tournament. They are  never ever getting an England squad in a million years.

There would be no point in naming a 4th keeper as a keeper can be replaced at any time

It will, in effect, be a 27 man squad with 4 keepers, one of whom just won’t be stripped on match day

They were different people in a different era. It was clearly just frowned upon to play friendlies before the 'real stuff' began. These seem to be your only preseason games held in Britain during 1950s & 1960s:

1951     Dunfermline 4-5 Albion Rovers     St Mungo Quaich (for Festival of Britain)
1963     Hearts 7-0 Dunfermline     Allison Trophy

    ban lifted
    1966     Dunfermline 0-0 Arsenal
    1967     Dunfermline 0-0 Borussia Dortmund
    1969     Aston Villa 3-2 Dunfermline + Blackpool 2-1 Dunfermline

St Mirren played Blackpool at Love Street in August 1968 & Scunthorpe in Aug 1966 in friendlies

  7. Up until the last couple of games, we’ve been playing with 2 central midfielders instead of the 3 we played with last season. This was to accommodate the 2 wide players along with a striker

O’Hara (and Baccus) have therefore more defensive work to do and less opportunities to attack.

With McMenanin dropped and a switch back to 2 up front, this means 3 central midfielders again and hopefully we’ll more of O’Hara & Baccus going forward

  8. While I agree that McMenamin isn’t comfortable at RWB, I’m not so sure that he’d be comfortable on the left wing

He played right wing at Glentoran where he scored 39 goals in 80 games. He scored his only goal for NI playing in the right

Not saying that we shouldn’t play him on the left, just pointing out that we signed him based on his performances on the right wing

As for the team in general, we’re sitting 3rd and there isn’t much between any of the sides after the OF. I’ve watched years of shite where we were struggling in the First Division. I’d expect a defeat away to Ross County anytime and anything else is a bonus!

The Financial Reports issued by the club are deliberately opaque so it's silly to try and read too much into them but last season included a Top6 finish in the league and an away cup tie to Sellick resulting in revenue by up by well over £1M from the previous season, are we likely to do much better this season?

We'll probably have the dilemna of trying to cash in on at least one of our better players in the January transfer window while maintaining our current league position.

    We also sold Ethan Erhahon

I would take issue on your “last (double) kick of the ball.” After said “last (double) kick of the ball”, St Mirren managed to “concede” another penalty which would have taken all three points away from them. But the VAR decided not to refer the referee to the screen in that instance.

But that incident wouldn’t have happened had the double hit penalty not been awarded

Most people had doubts about Zach based on his form with Killie.

He has rebuilt his confidence with us and the coaching of Langfield has helped.

He is enjoying his football and we are benefiting.

Unless folk are familiar with Kilmarnock reserves, his form with Killie first team was excellent.

Massive upgrade in the hapless Carson. If we’d had a half decent keeper last season we’d have qualified for Europe. Carson is hopeless.

To get a fee for that donkey and replace him with someone better is a stroke of genius.

  12. Assuming all fit

    Gunn, Kelly, Clark

Patterson, Hickey, Porteous, Hendry, Hanley, McKenna, Cooper, Tierney, Robertson

McGregor, Gilmour, McLean, McTominay, McGinn, Armstrong, Ferguson, Christie

    Dykes, Adams, Doak

Possibly Jack instead of McLean or Cooper - but someone is bound to miss out through injury anyway

Shankland, Stewart & Conway possibilities instead of Doak or injury to the other 2 strikers

Edit - if Barnes wants to switch when he’s fit then he’d be on the plane instead of Doak
