Had a dream Livingston beat Celtic , St Mirren beat Hearts. No they dreams are just fantasy aren't they ?
I’d rather Celtic win that. Got to think long term instead of short term glory.

Always felt that St Mirren should have appointed Alex McDonald as manager instead of Davie Hay.
Whereas Hay sent in a professional dossier when he applied, McDonald just sent a one liner saying he applied for the job. Hay then talked a good game in the interview and got the job.
His appointment was a total disaster that took us years to recover from whereas McDonald went on to have a decent run of success at Airdrie.

I mean, yous probably had Alan Gow too at some point, lets be honest, who hasn't.
Also, overall that's a pretty poor list of players no matter how you frame it. Apart from the obvious ones.

On our last trip to Fir Park, a couple of Trevor Carson howlers cost us a defeat
Fast forward to this season and some great goalkeeping from Zach Hemming helped to win all 3 points. There ain’t no way Carson would have made those saves that Hemming made, he’s too small for a start!
I was probably in the minority but I never rated Carson, he was just average. When he left and Hemming arrived I was quietly confident this would be an upgrade. And so it’s proving.
Hemming > Carson

Watching that 5-2 game again, there a couple of quite incredible misses from Brian Gallagher and Kenny McDowall before Henry Smith chucked it and Sandy Jardine went in goal

Erm, naw Jock, it was their previous away league game, the 5-2 humping at Love St less than 3 months earlier.
That 5-2 victory over Hearts clinched European qualification

This is how Saints cost Hearts the title in 86

Not anytime soon IMO. O'Neill will definitely get the Nations League, which is a year away, and probably the World Cup Qualifiers too.
So itll be 2/3 years before its back up.
By which point we’ll be an established Champions League side

We’ve got the 3 points, we’ve beaten this hapless mob home and away

I know a few St. Mirren fans personally, mainly through work.
Each and every one of them are, to a man, absolutely sound individuals, good company on a night out and generally of sane mind.
The ones I've encountered on here however, totally shatter that illusion, given that they mainly appear to be mostly bellend c***s.
This is a typical year jerked post from a well fan having difficultly with the natural order being restored

I’ve seen us win two major trophies. Whatever age you are, it’s more than you’ve ever seen Motherwell win, or ever will!!

Comedy stuff guys
You may may well have a decent season but face it, we’ve beaten you home and away
Its up to us to split the OF. And let’s face it, you guys have always been Rangers fans without the bus fare.
We’re actually next door to Ibrox yet we hate them - nobody disputes we hate them - but you guys are total apologists
I was once in the Motherwell end at Ibrox and the sectarian abuse you guys gave to one of your own players - won’t name him at this point - it was something I’d never experienced until this then and and never have since
Let me hear a well fan try to justify that
-3 -
The worry is that Aberdeen sack Robson and go for Robinson
Or some random English club goes for Robinson
Otherwise 3rd place is not only realistic but we can split the OF

In my lifetime I’ve seen St Mirren win more major trophies than Motherwell.
And that’s despite Motherwell’s financial doping, League reconstruction, stopping clubs being. promoted, not paying bills, screwing local businesses.
I’ve had this “joke” about there being more St Mirren fans in Fir Park in 1977 than there have ever been Motherwell fans… but in reality, there were probably 50% + more St Mirrren fans in Fir Park that day than there have ever been Motherwell fans.
You guys need to accept that the current situation is the way it should be
4 -
To be fair, the Motherwell fans are taking it quite well that St Mirren are the masters of the universe compared to the Dundee fand
Its when the the Sevco fans start to realise that we’re the main challengers to Celtic that I’m looking forward to

The St Mirren goal was offside, Motherwell made the best chances, Motherwell played the better football, Motherwell smacked the bar, Motherwell played some nice triangles in midfield, the Motherwell manager says he would have been gutted even if his side had only got a draw, and even the St Mirren manager says Motherwell probably had the best of it over the piece.
At this point I really should finish with something a lot more mature and grown-up than this….
0-1. GIRFUY.
That sort of shit makes it so much better

He had hardly kicked a ball for you.
Scored a goal against the worst Hibs side in years and you’ve all got him penned as some injured saviour.Their best striker is a guy on loan who came on as a sub twice

It’s the mark of champions when you can scrape wins like this
This could be the difference between automatic qualification for the Champions League group stages and needing to go into the qualifiers

We’ll never know but it’s defo a what might have been
Hay achieved most of his “success” at Celtic whereas McDonald achieved his success at Hearts (at least initially) on a shoestring.
He signed guys like Jardine, Levein, Whittaker, Berry, Black, Clark & Colquhoun to compliment John Robertson and Gary Mackay. Genius signings.
When Hay arrived, he had big money to spend and spent the majority on his ex Celtic chums, Aitken, Baillie, Reid & Elliot as well as Charnley. He failed to bring in a striker.
He inherited a few decent players, Money, McWhirter, Black, McGowne, Martin (there’s a half decent defence right there), Lambert, Torfason, Shaw. even Stickroth &. Kinnaird.
Indeed, Shaw turned out to be a half decent striker with Partick & Dundee and Hay gave him away as part of the Elliot / Charnley deal. He then had to sell Brian Martin to balance the books after signing Lex Baillie. What a disaster.
