To add to that when we came back up from winning League 1 into the Championship we had the second smallest budget in the league and finished 2nd. We don't tend to be pissing money against the wall anymore.

In all my P and B years, I've never seen this mythical list of budgets. Is it actually 'a thing' or do people just make assumptions based on attendances?

That EK stadium proposal looks like pie in the sky nonsense. I'll believe it when I see it.

The Keans have been looking to build a stadium in EK for what seems like decades now. They wanted to do it for Clyde (I think they are Clyde fans) who were touting themselves to EK and, either before that or at the same time,  the Keans wanted to buy junior side EK Thistle. The idea was being promoted that the two teams would ground share at the Langlands site they're talking about now. EK Thistle wouldn't play ball and the Clyde move didn't come off, so they set up the present EKFC themselves. The ground they have isn't up to much and they've resurrected their earlier plan for a ground at Langlands, which is as remote as you'll get in EK....and that is very remote indeed.

Best of luck to them. Back in the day, EK had their own development agency and they might have helped, but the local authority ,South Lanarkshire Council, won't be in any hurry to contribute a bean.

I think the current stand holds just under 1,000 and the 40 members of the Royale family take the capacity just over 1,000. I would love a decent terracing to be included.

If we were allowed terracing, you could bring the capacity up significantly. Interestingly, Edinburgh have been allowed to have standing at their "new" ground although I was told "new" grounds (like Lesser) had to be all-seater, per the SFA.

Unfortunately, the royal box has screwed the potential on that side for anything, but there's a big bit of ground at the north end.

Granted, a fair bit of work is still needed but we were promised "bigger and better" when the plans were changed to incorporate the royal box. What we have so far is smaller and worse. It may well be better for the teams (changing rooms) and directors (royal box) but for the ordinary fan, what we have is really disappointing. I still don't know what they were thinking of.

With you. Like it or not, I simply think we're hanging our hat on staying at Hampden.

  5. Any advert that (a) uses someone eating ridiculously noisily or (b) chomping down like Godzilla biting a spaniel's head off.

While we're at it, the feckin meerkats were annoying enough without the addition of the wombat. In fact, get Godzilla in to eat the lot of them.

That felt important last night in the context of our medium/long term future both on and off the park. As good a night as we’ve had at a notoriousFeels like we’re slowly making inroads in terms of building a support and even just passing interest, where previously a lot of folk forgot we even existed. Really excited to see what next season brings.

Yip, totally agree. I'm convinced we can move to a fan base of 2,500 IF we can win a reasonable number of games at Hampden which would encourage people to come along regularly. We've moved from 5/600 to about 1200 in a year despite the results at Hampden.

To give the Club their due, they are putting a lot into the Community side of things and this has to be a contributing factor.  That said,  there's still much that could be done to help improve off the park.

    The plans are still there.

I am slightly concerned though about the location,  it's miles from the town centre with no transport links.

Unfortunately, football is littered with clubs who delude themselves  that building a ground in the middle of nowhere with no transport links will work in terms of attracting fans.

  8. I was hopeful for the Arbroath game, but didn't see a five goal spanking on the cards.

Great that it's back in our own hands now and even better than that Airdrie will have at least one eye on the playoffs.

Big Dunc will maybe contribute to the debate but, Airdrie, feel free to freewheel through this one.

A QP win and Paton to end his goal drought.

I cannot wait for this season to end.

  9. We have utter nonsense of the "champions" of the LL being the best non-B team, irrespective of where they finish. On that convoluted logic, there's an argument for a team who wins the league but fails the eligibility test for SPFL membership being ignored and the next team in the table going to the playoffs as "champions ".

Not that I agree with either.

In fairness, if Haughey walked away, QP should have no problems finding a new benefactor.  There isn't any other club in Scotland that has a directors box like that QP evil overlord lair.  That's got to be appealing to a certain type of sponsor!
