So that's our last 2 games of the season on Friday nights,  as you say the United game could and probably still will be a decent money spinner especially if United have the chance to win the league that night,  it's hard to be to critical as all these games help the club gain publicity, which was basically zero in the barren years of League 1.

Only one Saturday 15:00 game v United this season which is a bit of an odd quirk!

Would love to see him get a game, wonder who the last former AIrdrie player to play in the top flight in England was? Coyle I would guess?

Nobody else springs to mind since then.  Tony Watt had a fair shake, but never got above the Championship with Charlton.

Liam Lindsay has had a respectable career in the Championship.

I think Gary Twigg made a couple of appearances off the bench for Derby County? Though I couldn't tell you if that was in the English Premier League or not.

Turns out playing on Tuesday nights was all we had to do to fix our away form.

Great result and good to see Morton lose as well. Definitely in the mix for the play off spots.

Reminiscent of the second-half of the Covid season.

2 points off 4th, 4 points off 3rd and 5 points ahead of 9th 😂 Wild. Hate to say it out loud so to speak but I'd like to think a win on Saturday would be enough to stop having to look over our shoulder. Can't discount anything happening in this league though! Great win against a team we've struggled with these last two seasons. 6 of our 13 away points have came in the last week 😂

  4. I think there's a place for Gal, Gabby and Todorov in a Championship squad. All 3 of them though I don't think any Championship team can really afford to carry unless you have a proper quality #9 at this level. It's what separates us from the majority of other teams in this league. Put an Oakley or a Dowds in our team and I genuinely think the affect would be transformative. Gal started the season well, and I think he still might be our top goal scorer in the league? He is overall at least (by one). He's done nothing since the Queen's Park game though and he's looked off the pace since his injury. He's better at holding up the ball and linking play than Todorov, and I think Todorov would be a better impact sub, but you can't argue with the run Todorov is/was on. Todorov seems to be quite streaky in terms of his scoring/dry spells. Which again is fine if you have a reliable #9. But I'm not sure he really suits our style of play and his game outside the box is more-or-less non existent (lovely ball to O'Connor on Tuesday night mind you!). I've said it before but I do think Gabby is under-rated in terms of his contribution to the team and his impact on our positive runs and results. Needs to do a lot better than 2 league goals though, obviously.

Agree with the Telfer PotY shouts. Probably between him and Hancock, and Hancock/Megwa for YPotY. Would have considered Ballantyne and Aiken too if not for their injuries.

I was not there last night.

My Tannadice trips have been fruitless. Saw Eddie Forrest getting sent off there on my last visit in the Cup.

    Happy though.

I missed Tuesday night and my dad missed the last win there in '95 due to getting married. I think the moral of the story is for my family to skip all future games at Tannadice. Looked a class night from the pics and @AirdrieFanTV.

  6. What a result and what a way to do it! Delighted for Gabby, O’Connor and for all the travelling fans who went up. Gutted not to have been there but that’s a special win. Hope you all enjoyed it ♦️ Hope Hancock is okay and his injury is nothing too serious. It’d be a blow to have him missing this upcoming run of fixtures, defensively and going forward, even with Megwa back.

Table looks a bit healthier after that result though it’s all still a bit frustratingly tight. Great opportunity coming up to take points off the teams around us and go some way to securing our Championship status. If we can beat Queen’s Park and Inverness, and at least one of Ayr or Dunfermline fucking once, that’d be huge.

  7. Delighted to have Megwa back. I think, Saturday aside, we have coped well without him. But no doubt we’re a better team for having a player of his calibre and you can never have too many good players I guess! Also nice that he seems to want to play for us and feels appreciated at Airdrie. Will be interesting to see how McCabe fits all of Megwa, Hancock and Ballantyne in but I hope he does, whether that’s with the back 3/5 or Hancock moved to centre-half. All three have probably been our best player at one point or another this season so it’d be a shame for any of them to miss out. Good job with the signing video @el Gringo

  8. Frustrating one. Don’t think we played that badly middle to front. But Dowds will never score another 3 easier goals. Three absolute gifts. Indeed, about half of his goals this season must be gifts from us. Really missed Fordyce. Don’t think McCabe won a header up against Dowds all game and, while this is very uncommon, Fordyce’s long passes might even have been better than McCabe’s today! Don’t fancy going up against Oakley and Muirhead next week if Fordyce is missing. Watson was poor today. The defence has been largely excellent this season, and Watson has been much better than probably anybody expected him to be. But we were possibly shown up for our lack of recruitment at centre-half. ATS hasn’t been in the picture for a while now but I’m not sure he wouldn’t be a better option in there. Don’t think he makes those mistakes with his passing and he’s possibly a better option in the air against Dowds than McCabe and Watson too.

I like all of our forwards but today I think also highlighted that we need much better quality upfront - both in terms of being clinical and holding the ball up/linking play/playing outside the box. Todorov wasn’t in the game at all and Gal and Gabby are clearly still working their way back to fitness.

Frustrating to have dropped 9/9 points against Ayr. Each team in this league seems to have a team or two that they just can’t beat for whatever reason. But hopefully today’s dropped points don’t prove too costly in the final run-in.

Only very loosely Airdrie related but has anyone seen what’s happening at Willie McKay’s latest project “Doncaster City FC”? 11th level of the pyramid in England and they’ve just signed Charlie Mulgrew and Ross McCormack, and on top of that former Airdrie man Scott McLaughlin. I don’t think we’ve got any players still represented by a McKay since Paul, Jack, Thomas Robert etc left. At any rate, our relationship with Consilium does seem to have benefited us more.

Doncaster that's a name from the past, j used to look out for there results when Billy Bremner was the gaffer,   that wasn't yesterday...  Agree Consilium is working at the moment, things can change quickly in Football,   Rhys holds the strings for everything.

Onto today , it's a must not lose , with teams beginning to bunch up, we have games in hand, although never count your chickens with them, when you see the hectic schedule we have to play March and April...

I think Doncaster City is a McKay creation or vehicle. They were only established a year or two ago and play at the bottom of the English pyramid., Central Midlands North League or some other such nonsense. Mark McKay is the chairman and Jack McKay plays for them, as does our trialist from this pre-season Muhamet Gashi. I think it was Doncaster City who tried to get into the Scottish Cup last season under the Treaty of Durham.
