  1. SV SW Lieboch 11 SV Peggau II 0 on Saturday was a welcome return to mis-matched pre-season friendly nonsense.

Even better though, is the new 2021-2022 "season" of everyone's favourite tournament, the Eesti Karikas (Estonian Cup). Fourth tier Raplamaa kicked off the tournament with a 15-0 demolition of amateurs Wolfram FC.

The IBK Here For Beer boys are presumably undeterred by last years 9-0 defeat against Tallinna JK Legion and face top flight opposition again in Narva Trans, which is one of the likelier cricket scores in the first round. Although when a fourth tier side wins 15-0 against a Rahvaliiga side (pub/amateur level) you can never rule out a massacre.

  2. Things you love to see, no booking, no 2 hour time slot and a free drink, happy days !Screenshot_20210603-184155_Photos.thumb.jpeg.962a08f70d2cec10721899de058e0d25.jpeg
Might pay Sweeneys a visit on Sat then. They've had six wee tables for two outside for the last few weeks, always occupied by their older clientele when I've walked by. Think they opened inside just to sell soft drinks before as well just to give their regulars somewhere to go.
  3. Just got the famous blue envelope through the door (20s). It's at the Central Mosque in Glasgow. Anyone know which vaccine they provide there? I don’t want that AZ muck.
Think both but the under 40s are being given the Pfizer. I'm there this Wednesday for mines.
  4. Agree with the 2001, 2010 and 1992 shouts. 2000 and 2020 are great as well. 2005 (?) might be worth it just for the hilarity of Vince tearing both quads at the end of the match.
1992 is the best ever, but could be harder to introduce a new fan to it as they could see it as being rather dated.

2000 wasn't much cop at all IMO. 1998 and 2011 would be better choices.
  5. Another Go Fund Me page on the go down here, for a woman's funeral this time. The woman was run over and it's being treated as murder apparently which is of course horrendous. But she looks well in to her 50's. How can you not have any kind of savings by that stage? Another example of a GFM page where if the person had taken insurance like everyone else they wouldn't be in this situation. I expect plenty of mugs will contribute though and of course inform the family publicly for some well earned Likes.
I work in debt advice and at least half the people I've spoke with in the last month were over 50.
  6. Yay- not always obviously but absolutely brings added value in the right moments.
i don’t get why this ever became a controversial topic.

Ffs, first scissors to cut pizzas and now pineapple as a topping. This is outrageous behaviour, P&B. What's next? A thread on the delights of a mango pizza?

I once was cooking gammon steak Hawaii for dinner but realised part way thru I had no pineapple. Used tinned peaches instead. OFTW behaviour?
  7. Taylor v Jonas has been really good so far. Tough to score, but think I have Jonas one ahead after 7. Both landing well, but Jonas doing the slightly cleaner work in the last couple of rounds, IMO.
Didn't see the fight but remember watching Jonas get stopped by Viviane Obenauf a few years ago, and Obenauf coming across as very likeable in the post fight interview.

Googled Obenauf tonight and found out she is alleged to have beaten her 66 yr old Swiss husband to death in December! Definitely wouldn't take a broken pay packet home to her either.
  8. Got offered treble pay for working one Sunday in a call centre job years ago.

Didn't realise until the night before that the trains didn't start on Sunday until about the same time I was due to start work in Glasgow.

Would have still just about made it via bus from Ayrshire but the (relief) driver incredibly got lost in Glasgow and nearly ended up in Springburn instead of the bus station. Another guy and me had to give him directions.

Ended up half an hour late. Work weren't impressed but didn't mind too much as half the folk due to be in hadn't turned up at all and were presumably all still out from the night before.

  9. My work are intending to go to a blended (in the office at least 50% of the week) approach from August after the school holidays.

Probably suits me fine tbh, although my job role might necessitate being in the office a bit more than that in due course.

Only started this job a few weeks ago and I've found it a bit more difficult as a new start wfh rather than working with colleagues in the office.

Found it strange that the supervisor was phoning my (personal) mobile rather than calling through Teams. Eventually questioned this and she apparently doesn't have a speaker on her laptop or a headset. Apparently she can't use Excel properly either...

  10. Is it the case that someone better dies around the same time as every royal? Dermot Morgan died a day or so apart from Diana.
Did someone else not die really close to her? Mother Teresa maybe?
Father Ted did do a cracking Mother Teresa impersonation to be fair.
  11. That's it. I knew a journo was involved in the story somehow. Must have got the ending mixed up with some other grisly young-adult book
Bit of digging has revealed my memory was conflating "Stone Cold" with a book called "Shadows" by Tim Bowler which also involves teenage homelessness. It wasn't quite as grim.
  12. Does anyone remember a horrific BBC program about a teenager from a broken family who gets made homeless, sleeps rough, makes pals with another rough sleeper and eventually one of them gets murdered by an ex soldier who routinely kills homeless people? What was remarkable about it was that it was on in the middle of the day on weekdays in the slot that would usually be occupied by the likes of Padraig Post. Think it was a mini series. Saw it as a kid in the early 90s when I would have been off primary school ill and it struck me as really odd for a show like that to be on in the daytime. Possibly called Link or similar?
I don't remember a TV show, but I had a library book as a teenager with a very similar, possibly the same, plot. Think the boy ended up going home in the end only to find that his maw had killed herself. Right cheery story.
