They tend to be surrounded by cages or running tracks and 7 a side goals., all of which spoil the viewing for the paying customer so, I am probably more a facilities snob.

Only two that are semi passable, that I have been to, are Pt Glasgow and Bonnyton where you are not lined up alongside one barrier and there are no viewing obstructions.

    I agree with this completely.

I don't mind a cage park being used to start off with but there must be a transition from the pieshop less arenas and lack of facilities to something better over time.

Gartcairn are doing their best. Finnart seem to be moving on to something better.

I do prefer grass pitches but with community links and funding criteria you can understand why clubs go down that route.

From a personal point of view you and the ten other gow fans won’t be missed if you don’t come down the Rockburn next season treat yourself and go and take in another game but I suppose you get plenty of time to do that anyway since your own AWFUL ground is under water and unplayable for most of the winter

Touche! You can put your handbags away.

I congratulate Bellshill for their promotion.

The ground is poor from a spectator point of view.

As for the Craighead, I think you exaggerate somewhat but you are entitled to your view.

Best of luck for division two👍

Congrats to Bellshill, they looked certainties for the title early doors, but as can happen wheels came off a bit but managed to secure enough points in the home stretch to get over the line.

As for Threave they have no-one to blame but themselves. I've said a few times on here they have this soft underbelly; seen it last season and it has been more evident this season.

Will be an interesting close season down at the Meadow.

If you watch the View From the Terrace episode from 2022 about the move west, encapsilates them perfectly. That game against Kilsyth was their first test and honestly despite the young age of the Kilsyth team it was men against boys. They didn't learn that season and from what I've witnessed, still haven't.

Anyways have a playoff game in Sat in Dalbeattie to look forward to.

So till next season have a great summer all.

That's a pity Threave just couldn't get over the line. I'm sure they will learn and be up next season.

From a personal point of view, I would much rather be going to Meadow Park than Bellshills awful ground next season, and that's with it being an hour and half away.

Just seen The Gow score. What happened there? Glad we are not going there on Saturday with potential relegation being an issue to be resolved.

The performance was unacceptable. There are ways to lose, that wasn't one of them.

We had four influential players missing, not sure whether holidays or suspensions. As season was supposed to end last Saturday and the late extension.

One of coaches played the full game, when at best you can get a good half hour out of him. Only had sub keeper on bench too.

Fair play to Ardeer they just wanted it more because of what was at stake.

We just didn't turn up, which when you make the effort to be there despite work, travel, etc. Makes for a very disappointing and frustrating night.

No trouble at game, we left just after full time whistle.

Pretty remarkable run of form from the top 2 in the league. Lanark clinched there promotion spot last week and it looks like the gow will do it this weekend and deservedly so. Bellshill on the other hand, the wheels have well and truly came off after a tremendous start. Looks like it could come down to goal difference for third place now.

Bellshill seem to be doing their best not to get promoted, did the same not happen last year?

It will be a sore one to take if they don't make it. Threave are looking good but Lanark could do Bellshill a favour next Wednesday.

    Nice 2nd goal.

Big keeper threw one in against us too.

Ball boys at VoL?  Not seen that before

VOL had a boys club at game, they walked out as mascots with team and some remained as ball boys, while the rest watched and joined the Ultras.

Good to see them getting the young ones involved and hopefully adding to their support in the long term.

  7. VOL 0 Gow 3

    Win on Saturday confirms promotion.

Team did well tonight. 1-0 HT.  2nd half, VOL down to ten men. Double dissent no 11. We scored almost straight after it and added third near the end.

Could have easily been 5 or 6, if we were more clinical.  VOL could have played until this time next week and not scored.

Good to get a straight forward win.

Kello on Saturday, looking forward to the pies.

Picked up a saying when involved in youth coaching; "Easy to play against". For me that is Threave Rovers.

Last season we had 7 cups not counting SRCC and big Scottish. I know its a small league, but that's ridiculous. One of the downsides is that we have just had Abbey Vale play Newton Stewart 3 weeks in a row in various cups. That is not out of the ordinary either.

Star have 11 titles over the years. Creetown have two 2nd places, one being last season behind Vale. Whilst I don't have a preference it would be wonderful for Creetown  They have come a long way recently, got their SFA Licence before the door slammed shut, and had a big day at CCP against Whitehill earlier in the season.

Where I live in the Stewartry I can easily travel to Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas (CD), Kirkcudbright (KBT), Creetown, Wigtown and Newton Stewart (NS). So I do.

Also New Abbey and Heathhall, for Lochar Thistle ain't that far.

Love the people at NS like many here a great wee club and very much a part of the community like most clubs. The only exception I see is St.Cuthberts, they seem to have totally lost the town. More folk travel to see they two every week than probably the full seasons attendance at St.Mary's. Tough times for the old girl.

Their agm is next Friday 17th hoping to pop along to get the feeling in the club about going forward.

I was surprised at St Cuthberts drop in form, as they are usually one of stronger teams in the area.

You have to involve the community, its vital at this level.

We played Upper Annandale in the SRCC, great folks running the club, chatting to them. They struggle to get locals turning up but not for the want of trying

£3 to get in and free cakes at half time. What's not to like.

Played Mid Annandale too, great wee set up they have, doing it right with a cage. Bonus points for pie stall. It was so wet the night we played them, I would have been better wearing a wetsuit and a divers helmet 🤣

Glad to see interest from outwith the Galloway, football down here can be ignored at times.

Creetown have come on greatly over past couple of seasons and probably the club I see most down here. An excellent example of community club immersed in the fabric of the town. As are Star over in Dalbeattie, they have had a decent season after dropping down from the LL.

Hopefully a good turnout and what I do like down here is that fans,  whose own team isn't playing do make the effort to go along and watch other teams playing locally.

As for Broxburn; got to be honest in that can't see either team being able to best them over 2 legs. Whomever wins the title will be looking to make the first leg down here on the 18th a contest at the very least.

Nice to see you taking time out from your own promotion tilt. Although I think your run since the New Year has made it virtually a certainty now, so pressure just about off now.

Bellshill and Threave seem to be doing their utmost to not get promoted. 😆😆

Looking forward to Wednesday, will be nervous excitement all around me from both sides. I can just enjoy my football as usual. Quite enjoying not having a team whom I support.

I've always had a wee interest  in SOS. I love non league football and there's an oddity factor, I just like about SOS. I would say the same about the Highlands. SOS must have the most cups for any region.

Gow played Broxburn and lost 3-2 at their place this season.  One off maybe but two legs think it will be a step too far.

Having played Creetown, think I will hoping they do it. Seem a good wee club.

We need five points from the remaining four games to confirm promotion. Which we should do.

We could confirm promotion at Kello on Saturday, if we win and beat Vale of Leven away on Weds but it won't be easy.

I would like some straightforward wins, instead of the roller coaster football we've had in recent games.

Regards SOS, always kept an eye out for Newton Stewart results and before that Tarff Rovers.

  10. Should be some game. Good crowd too hopefully.

Winner plays Broxburn for LL play off.

Good to see Creetown in with a shout. Gow played them in SRCC last season won 6-3. We got a couple players from the Star last season too, Currie brothers.

How do you think either will fare against Broxburn?

That in a nutshell is what is lacking in the Threave squad.

If they drop short of promotion, could be a pivotal moment with regards to the move West.

Either go away over the summer and come back stronger or could be the start of the end of their journey.

Whatever happens there are changes coming at the club in the close season.

    From what I've seen of Threave;

At Craighead, I expected more from them. We looked better when we went down to ten men. Infact we scored two of our three goals.

They didn't seem up for it but maybe we didn't let them play.

Down there, it was like the Alamo, we were lucky to get a draw. If they had their shooting boots on, we could have lost by 3 or 4.

In general, if they could get a proven goal scorer they would be formidable.

I think their run in the SRCC meant they took their eye off the ball in the league.

I don't think they need major surgery,  3-4 good additions to the squad, including a proven goalscorer, which is easier said than done.

If they don't make it up this season then they will next season if they keep the core of the squad.

That wee Dunglinson fella, is a great wee player.

  12. Gow 4 WPU 3

As usual, we do enjoy a challenge 3-1 down with 20 minutes to go.

Previous to that, WPU played well on the break and deserved their lead.

We had enough chances to win three games but couldn't get the ball in the net, bar one.

The spirit, resilience and determination in this squad is outstanding.

I just wish we would make things easier for ourselves but it does make for great entertainment.

I'm reliably informed we need five points from our last four games and we are promoted.

Didn't see a Finnart win coming. Did think Ardeer would make it tough for Bellshill. Well done Lanark on confirming promotion.

    Mon the Gow.

I understand that our game has been rescheduled for 15th May, as anticipated.

Been told that the Threave keeper heads off on holiday for 2 weeks next week and will then retire so would appear he won't be available. He is an integral part of how they play the ball out from the back. They will take confidence from their performance last night and would be surprised if the don't take full points at Finnart on Saturday.

Finnart seem to have dropped off a bit since we beat them 4-2 at their place. Would expect Threave to win.

He's a good keeper, he will be a big miss for them.

Lanark v Threave  was abandoned on 89 minutes. Am told our young substitute striker has suffered a very bad injury following a robust challenge by the Threave captain.

Had to be taken by hospital by van after lying on the pitch for the best part of an hour, due to the state of our NHS. Shocking.

No idea when the game will be replayed.

Have said on here more than once, Threave are the best team we have played in the division this season. They proved it again tonight and were very good.

Wish him all the best for his recovery from all at the Gow.

Our player at weekend waited two hours for an ambulance. Its unacceptable.

Our game against Ardeer is now to be played on 15th May, would think there is a good chance that's when you will play Threave again.

  15. Gow 3 Greenock 2

We like to make it hard for ourselves., lost an early goal. Got one back before half time.

Greenock got one early second half.  Gow then moved up a gear and scored two within a few minutes.

Handy result for us down at Irvine.

I see Lanark v Threave got abandoned on 90 minutes,. I hope the Lanark lad will be ok, not sure of the nature of injury.

Threave will be gutted considering the circumstances.

If my maths are correct, Lanark will be promoted if they win their next two games.

    One down, one to go.

I'm hoping they do it, as it will leave a little wriggle room for us over Threave, assuming we keep it up.

Best of luck for Wednesday and confirming promotion

  17. Ardeer Thistle 1 Gow 1

Match abandoned after 55 minutes. Serious ankle injury sustained by Gow player.

Ardeer had upper hand first half, went 1 up.  Gow came out for second half with a point to prove, scored within five minutes.

Wishing the player all the best for his recovery.

  18. Gow 1 Bellshill 0

End to end stuff. Gow more technical, Bellshill a bit more agricultural.

Kieran McGuire's well taken goal was difference.

Certainly wound up the Bellshill boo boys who were on his back throughout, as he ran over cupping his ears.

Onto Ardeer on Saturday. Mon the Gow.

  19. 4 hours ago, An Absolute Imposter said:

God, you were quick on. 😄😄

Definitely in Gow's own hands now  not saying its a certainty by any means. Today v Girvan shows how tough each game will be.

Finnart out of it, VOL I feel will drop short and Threave needed all 3 points today.

Can Gow handle the pressure. 😆

No hingin' aboot today, not always as on the ball.

If we win six remaining games we will finish at least third, haven't lost in eight now.

We do have a habit of grinding out wins but taking nothing for granted, until we cross the finishing line. Today was close to a slip up but got there at the very end.

Threave/Bellshill draw was helpful today, along with Kello winning. I think this Wednesday clash with Bellshill, could be important but by no means defining.

So far the team have handled it and with big Sinky in charge he won't settle for anything less.

Some tough games still to come, so won't be making any predictions but the current form suggests we are heading in the right direction.

Enjoyed my visit to Meadow Park, impressive venue and pies. Albeit was a long haul midweek. We were lucky to get a draw that night.

Good to have you back btw.

  20. Gow 2 Girvan 1

Gow missed a great chance early on. Girvan went ahead after 35 minutes from the penalty spot. Gow equalised just before half time.

Second half was a war of attrition.

The Gow scored from a corner  late into injury time. Girvan kicked off, and ref blew for full time.

Considering Girvan have been a bit of a bogey team for us, it was a good result.

Definitely the definition of a late sickener as far as Girvan were concerned.
