  1. 1-6 v Verdasco AO 4th rd

1-6 v Nadal Indian Wells final

    No 0-6 sets until Gonzo.

    and erm.....that's it!

Murray has had an amazing 1st half of the season compared to last year and he now approaches the half where he comes alive.

After the grass he'll be nigh on unstoppable. People who know tennis will realise this.

He's more than halved his seeding for each of the slams between 08 & 09 which gives you all the indications you need to know about where he's headed. That kind of statistic is incredibly hard to do when you're already in the top 10.

Murray, at wimbledon, will get put out by a big server before the semi finals. Someone along the lines of Del Potro, or thomas berdych

  2. I quite like Del Potro. I'm not sure he is battle hardened enough yet to beat the likes of Federer, especially now that the tournament is there for the taking for him. I'm not sure who I'd prefer to win in that one. I like both of them. It's a bit frustrating for me just now because theres no top tennis player that I can't stand just now. I usually had a hate figure, but not just now. Verdasco does have a face you could give a good slap to but I don't even mind him all that much. I don't think he will ever be a genuinely top notch player anyway.

Murray has a really tough game against this Gonzalez bloke. I wonder if Murray has it in him to beat a top notch clay court player if that guy is on form. There'sno doubt that Murray will be quite chuffed with the clay court season this time. He has looked a much better player on it this year. And I'm sure he will only get better.

I stuck a fiver on Del Potro to win Wimbledon nearer the start of the year at something around 100/1. Looks like a pretty decent call, however only time will tell. Verdasco is a bit hit and miss, as he showed against Murray at the Austrailian when he is on form he can beat anyone.

I think Murray may struggle. Gonzalez has just seemed to breeze through almost effortlessley with hardly a mention. However, again Gonzalez is a player who can one day play well and the next have a bit of a shocker. In saying this he has looked pretty steady recently. Perhaps he is due an off day. Anyway, i think Gonzalez will win in four sets, perhaps five. Can't see Murray winning the battle from the back of the court if Gonzalez is playing well. Therefore i think Murray will have to change it up a bit, perhaps come in to the net or play a few more drop shots.

  4. We are Marshall.

We Are Marshall is precisely what one expects from a true sports story: it's uplifting and inspiring. stays surprisingly true to the facts, keeping embellishments to the minimum necessary to make the story cinematic.

Most probably the best film i've ever watched. Was enthrolled from start to finish. Get it watched if you haven't already done so.

  5. After the first set i got the feeling the match was going to go the same was as it did against Chela. However, all credit to the Itallian who stuck in and dug deep in the second producing alot of delicate drop shops in which Murray never seemed to be able to latch on too. Long spells in the match where Murray was being outplayed from the back of the court which is worrying. All credit to him for fighting back and taking the third. Although the 4th set finished 6-4 Murray never really looked in any real danger. Starace looked puffed and seemed to be punching above his own weight. With all that said a decent player who deserved to take a set off Murray if not two. Good test for Murray in which will help him in later rounds to come.

  6. Helsingborg done me out of £54. Bit gutted, as i re-invested £8 from my £60 i took over the weekend. Still got £3 on 3 teams though. Not confident.

    Portsmouth/Sunderland. Assholes.

  7. But Verdasco didn't even have to play well, Murray was dreadful. He looked almost lazy at times and at the end of the first set he was starting to be casual, this carried on into the second set and was trounced. He seemed almost complacent. He was far too cautious, I know that is how he plays but surely not to that extent. Maybe Federer was right when he said he was far too defensive. In truth the whole tournament he has looked pretty poor, never really got going at all. People say he has matured but his attitude and tactics cost him that match, Verdasco is a dangerous player but not in the same class as Murray, but for whatever reason his mind wasn't right. Was going back to his petulant ways for no reason.

Ironically I think this defeat is good for him. Will calm some of the hype down about him and make him come back stronger.

yes, he didnt have to but he did play very well, he didnt allow Murray just to plod the ball back into the court. Verdasco's serving was terrific, and at times his length was brilliant.
