  1. Bus drivers, well not the double decker ones (on this matter), it's them that drive the single deck ones, why ffs can they not pull in to a bus stop without leaving the arse end of the bus sticking out making it impossible to get past them? There's a massive yellow line painted bus stop place painted on the road for 'em, but oh no, no need to drive in to it in a straight road courteous manner, f**k, that, leave the arse end sticking out so no c**t can get past. I'm starting to dribble with anger I am, it's more than petty to me!

  2. Anybody cycled the Hadrian's Wall route? Me & a couple of pals are thinking of doing it next year when it warms up a bit? Well we thought we'd just meet up in Carlise & then cycle over to Newcastle. They are coming from the south so we thought meeting in Carlisle would be ok, just get the bike on the train, spend a few days cycling & drinking & get a return train back from Newcastle. Obviously the Wall doesn't start nor end in either of the points A to B but we thought that would be a nice we trip to begin with & then we could always do Carlisle to the Ravenglass later in the year & even the wee bit from Newcastle to Whitley Bay some other time.

So if you've done it what was it like?

  3. After about 5 years away from cycling due to various reasons I want to get back into it a wee bit. However I need a bike I want to go out a couple of times a week and do between 5-10 miles each time mostly road use with the occasional bridelpath park and cobbled street.I've had a look on ebay gumtree etc and they either have rusty old shite or stuff that cost's £200 so the question is this. I am considering the £80 solid frame 18 speed basic bikes from the likes of argos or halfords are these alright for what I want or are they just a bit too shitey.

If you are ever in Edinburgh there's the bikestation you'd get a decent bike for £80 off them & although it'll have been recycled it comes with a guarantee & fully serviced. There's other bikestations about too but I can only recommend the Edinburgh 1 cos that's the 1 I've used.

  4. The film is called the damned united which is about cloughs 44 days in charge at Leeds it has nothing to do with Taylor.

The book is just pure fiction based on a pile of rumours from ER.

If manny cousins had listened to Don then none of this would have happened as Giles would have been the next manager.

As to why giles didnt make it with the scum i dont care, he was great for leeds along with bobby collins and then billy bremner.

How can you call a film "Utter Crap" when it's obvious you haven't seen it? Timothy Spall plays Taylor in the film. The film like the book (which I assume you haven't read either) is about Cloughs 44 Days at leeds (as I said originally) but each day also as a flashback to an early day when Clough & Taylor were together at the clubs before he got to Leeds.

Have you just made your mind up about book & film on what you've been told & not bothered to find out for yourself?

  5. The book and the film are UTTER CRAP and in my view the film should never have been made.

Having been a Leeds supporter all my days i remember these times and the what the guy wrote in the book is utter fiction.

Johnny Giles took him to court and won that says it all.

Dont buy the book or go and see the film.

the book is a work of fiction but it states that, but it is based on actual events, Clough was manager of Leeds for 44 days, the book is about what's going on in Cloughs head & seeing has it was written after the death of Clough it can be nothing but fiction.

Have you read Bremner! The Legend of Billy Bremner by Bernard Bale? I think you'd reassess your "UTTER CRAP" bit, Clough (obviously) only gets 3 pages mention in it but it reveals enough on those 3 pages.

Anyway the film is about the Clough & Taylor marriage & the way I saw the film was that the 44 days at Leeds was akin to Clough having an affair behind Taylors back & that when Taylor finally forgives Clough for having done the dirty (no pun intended) that they get back together bigger & better than ever & history backs up that fact 2 European Cups on the trot.

So I still recommend everyone with an interest in Footy go watch it but I don't recommend the book.

    On another Leeds matter...

How come Giles couldn't fit in with the red team from Salford but was brilliant for Leeds?

  6. That's better. :)

Has anyone went to see 'The Damned United' yet? Is it worth a visit to my local cinema?

I read the book & it's very bleak, but go watch the film or wait for the dvd, it's far more upbeat & funny than the book.

The game is missing a Cloughie & I unfortunately Nigel aint his dad.
