NHS chiefs in Scotland discuss having wealthy pay for treatment

This paragraph, if the reporting is accurate, would be a sacking offence for whichever Scottish Government minister(s) gave it the green light IMO:

The group were then advised that they had been given the "green light to present what boards feel reform may look like" and that "areas which were previously not viable options are now possibilities".

Any such brief must come with clear parameters one of which would prevent this idea from even being discussed.

Most people with cash already do this to a degree, paying for private dental, physiotherapy, chiropractor, podiatry etc etc and many have private health insurance through Bupa.

It seems it's in the crucial run up to Christmas exams. Below is for Edinburgh but I guess these are nationwide dates.

Industrial Action 2022 | The University of Edinburgh

I see they've managed to engineer a nice long weekend out of it .

    Key dates
UCU members have voted to take strike action (on a discontinuous basis) on the following dates:

    Thursday 24, Friday 25 and Wednesday 30 November 2022.

To date in 2022 there have been 44% more Covid hospital admissions than in the same period in 2021.  What’s more, already in 2022 we have had 12% more hospital admissions than in the entirety of 2021.

There have been 39% more Covid hospital admissions in the first 289 days of 2022 than there were in the 289 days from March 19th 2020 to the end of December 2020.

Yet folk still think the experimental and untested covid “vaccines” are effective 🤡🌎

    How many more deaths though?

Say Scotland becomes independent in 2026 (the last referendum assumed roughly 18 months for a deal to be done), I think it could take quite some time to get back into the EU.

Honestly I think Scotland would be better trying to go for a Norway/Switzerland type deal than full membership.

They also said that it would cost £200M to become independent.

Bob Crow led a very ‘champagne socialist’ lifestyle.

I well recall, a good few years ago getting on a Silver Seas cruise liner at Rio and a variety of passengers telling me just how boorish his behaviour was on the leg from Barbados to Rio where he disembarked. Apparently, he was drunk every night and caused a lot of problems with guests and crew. Obviously, this is all hearsay but I did hear this about him from other sources.

He died quite soon afterwards with a lot of publicity and that is how I recalled what I had heard on the ship.

He certainly could talk the socialist talk.

He also chose to live in a council house despite his £200k+salary.

  7. Sturgeon's been in the job for too long.   She's run out of tricks and knows Independence can't be delivered.   All she's doing is working from Holyrood to Westminster to Council elections kicking the can down the road to keep her cronies in power.

Is that oil back to 'running out' now rather than 'a burden' as it hits 110$ a barrel?

Ukraine being fast tracked into the EU blows away another British nationalist argument...lovely stuff.

Poor comparison given the circumstances of the application.

For me, mandatory masking is the big one. Closely followed by vaccine passports. I'd accept a short delay on the latter to get the former today.

She does have the luxury of free tests until April so I don't think there will be an urge to do anything there at all.

As for self-isolation I expect the same unless the staffing crisis within the NHS is still causing issues.

Overall, I honestly can't see her making any changes at the moment though.

I expect her to delay another few weeks.

More on more people aren't bothering with masks now.   Every day I see more faces so clearly more people are taking personal responsibility.

Very likely could be one of our number from here with that nice suit jacket, expensive shirt and cuff-links while accusingly pointing that finger, but wearing a hula-hoop on the wee finger does give the game away it might be one of us from the COVID thread?

It does look like the finger is pointing at her but likely its the lens on the camera being used.

I've noticed over the last few months how much the stress has changed NS's face in a short time. She looks exhausted.

Maybe Nippy has finally realised that Covid is coming to an end, she's trashed a big part of the economy and can't deliver independence?
