  1. Early days so not too concerned. Only worry is the lack of a striker . So no focus up top. Gormley and Higgins looked to be continuing last year's performances (which is not good) I was glad to see a better style of play and I'm looking forward to a good season.
  2. Looks like two redhead trialists. Any idea who they are?
  3. Ferguson has my support but, I agree that Gemmell deserved to be retained more than Higgins or Gormley. He may suit a longer ball game but is still more of a threat from wide crosses than both of the others. Touch also much better than Gormley's. Hence able to hold it up better. However, he's gone and that's history. Maybe money was the issue. Looking forward to the new season. Hopefully, the football will be better and more exciting than last year's agricultural effort.
  4. Unbelievable that the challenge that injured McGovern at Berwick wasn't even given as a foul. In my opinion, it may have cost us promotion. Hopefully, he's fully fit soon and can challenge for a place in, what looks like our strongest midfield for years.
  5. Well chuffed with Easton's signing. I think we may go up as champions this year. Has there been an injection of cash recently? We've went from a £50000 deficit to signing some of the best players at this level over a few months.
  6. Can anyone tell me what job McLaughlin does? He doesn't tackle as he is too slow to get close to his opponent. He doesn't create or score. I think there is a fair amount of revisionism about some of the players that were not good enough last year. McLaughlin, as I've said above. Gormley, the non scoring striker who struggles to link up as he can't control the ball or stay on his feet. Why would this change next season? I don't really see what others see in Marsh. He gave energy to a slow lacklustre midfield but lacks composure and ability to pass. We may just be repeating the same errors of last year if these players play regularly. I am happier with the new signings though as well as Linton and Junior. So overall, on balance, I'm pleased
  7. I agree mostly. There have been many posts saying that Gormley had the highest number of assists. That may be true but how many attacks have broken down with his lack of control or him falling over?As for Higgins, I have no idea why he was resigned. I could count the number of good games he played last year on one hand. His "good performances" were not actually good but slightly better than his usual invisibility. I think Gibson improved towards the end of the season but is always liable to make a mistake. However, that may be the case for all goalkeepers at this level. It's also good that Barry has realised that he was wrong and you do need a creator in midfield as we struggled to break down stubborn defences last season as shown by some of our home performances.
  8. Good news about Linton. Gormley and Higgins less so. Hopefully a change in formation/tactics can prove me wrong.
  9. He had a two year contract with Clyde. He only played well for the final three months when his contract was about to run out. No thanks!
  10. Just for information. Hopefully does not lead to the usual boring back and forth. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/local-news/east-kilbride-stadium-campaign-victory-8040516#ruofMwcW0eXWkXUB.97
  11. If we want a mobile, quicker team we cannot retain McLaughlin, McGovern and Marsh in midfield and Higgins in a forward position. In my opinion, 3 of these will have to be replaced for a more dynamic team.
  12. I think we all agree about most of the players to keep. I would disagree about Marsh though. I think he shows lots of effort but lacks ability. No also to Gibson, Gormley, Scott McLaughlin, Durie and Bolo. We cannot complain about lack of mobility in midfield and keep McLaughlin. We need pace, movement and ability in the midfield. I'm not sure he offers any of the three
  13. Don't understand any desire to keep Higgins. He has shown very little this season. Gormley flattered to deceive. Puts in a lot of effort but inability to control the ball and hold it up was s real problem along, of course, with his dreadful scoring record. Other than that I agree with the rest of your thoughts.
