  1. If Brown and Whittaker aren't already either a) doing keg stands in Cameron's or b) in the EasyJet departures queue to Malaga it'll be an improvement on the last three regimes.
  2. This is untrue. County can let Partick have a three-goal head start this time and then burst them again. That was great fun.
  3. Might have been something to do with the Bodywarmer Bielsa having given you nine points on a silver platter, without which 9th would have been irrelevant for weeks.
  4. So that's done. Could Jewson maybe be convinced to film a bunch of twee wee twitter videos of players having the door hitting them on the arse on the way out?
  5. Another goal would be another 50k or so in prize money (i.e. one quarter of Scott Brown's fictional wages), which would be one half of one very good player apparently.
  6. It's not two very good players a month unless the theoretical replacement works for nothing, is it? Absolute Ayr brain to look at tonight and think "what is needed is to spend less money on the coaching staff". Nah Ayr United are definitely paying their manager £200,000 a year. Probably giving the assistant the same.
  7. Speaking of people who will still be at Ayr next season, with no improvements.
  8. The scary thing is that at least 50% of them will be on every team sheet next season.
  9. Truly remarkable to look at that and think "ah it's the last game, he's experimenting and not caring too much" before remembering that this is what Scott Brown considers to be his optimal XI. Not that he's wrong.
  10. Considering the club seem hell-bent on raising the profile of Bryden and everything that's come out about the lack of academy graduations I'd be surprised if they were going to continue down the road of the last few regimes and just release them. If anything the fear is that the manager is informed when he wants a new right back that he has his pick of them.
  11. People hugely underestimate the value of good training and motivation in bar staff. For something as high-throughput as a football club bar (which has burst rates not dissimilar to that of a pop-up bar at the Edinburgh Fringe, and fucking prices to match) you need staff trained to handle it. I'm deeply sceptical of online ordering (and indeed table service) in general and yet if I'm ever in the Pioneer I do it automatically as the staff have it down pat. With regards to tonight: it's still very silly that a win tonight secures sixth at worst after coming out of the January window with a squad still set up for direct relegation.
  12. Karaoke compere. Outfitter. That guy that yells "SHOW MORE PASSION AYR" from the main stand at random intervals. Attack dog handler. Sheffield Wednesday Assistant Manager.
  13. apropos of nothing but trying to figure out what "mubtumbo" meant on @itzdrk's profile led me to this glendinning is dryhorce lads.
  14. Think it's time to stop piling on with this one. Demonstrably he was limited and ended up huffing his own farts over a ludicrously lucky Champ Man style signing but nobody doubts he was trying his best and certainly did more for the club's image around the town than the two chancers who had been in before him. He's obviously got back room strengths and still has plenty of time to do something with them.
  15. Why would the club replace a defender when it has just re-signed versatile utility man Nick McAllister?
  16. Good players who can't be relied on are typically high up on the list of players who are mourned when they leave. Citation fucking needed considering he plays for Ayr United.
  17. Musonda is the best centre half at the club. I really wish people would keep this "wouldn't mourn" pish for players who wouldn't demonstrably leave big fucking holes in the preferred XI if they departed.
  18. Jesus Christ himself would not extend any goodwill to Dowds's current employer with regards to that sort of shit.
  19. What's the actual reason for the retro badge? And surely it's a one-off? I generally don't buy a new shirt until the letters have worn off of the old one and I prefer a bit of identity rather than just being well-made, but no doubt it is well-made. The keeper one looks like a Milka bar though. With regards to some new punter's first post being about all the improvements "on and off the pitch": the POTY will be 35 this year, the only position with any sort of cover at all is centre half, a third of the starting XI are loanees, most of the better elements of the first team have spotty injury records, and most of the rest aren't good enough to do anything except fight relegation. If that's not to be the target yet again next season then the nucleus of the side needs to be formed early.
  20. The word "owe" here serves as an excellent reminder that not only did Dunfermline take Slow Joe off Ayr's hands, they paid for the privilege. In all honesty that Ayr could still finish as high as fifth (which is where they were two minutes before the end of matchday 36 last season) seems completely absurd. There's no point in not going for it. The difference in prize money could add about £1500 to the wage bill for next season.
  21. Probably because, as repeatedly discussed, the club barely tweets to say that there's a fucking home game on a given day and yet somehow finds the time to make fully 50% of all content on the website articles blaming the fans for something. (That the fans are indeed to blame for various things is not the point.)
  22. I was in Ayr for a home game for once and took one look at the weather and flatly told myself I was staying in. Even managing to rescue a draw that day didn't prevent me feeling happy with the decision. On the 13th of January Bullen thought all his Christmases had come at once after managing to get a clean sheet in a shit 0-0 that meant Ayr stayed off the foot of the table. Twenty points clear now.
