Burley's masterpiece:
What's the source of this piece of shit? It should be sent to every SFL chairman, I think ...

Aye, though things were slightly different in 2002 as this was before the Serie A breakaway. Also they did get special treatment as Serie B was expanded and they got special allowance to go direct C2 > B.
OK.

Serie C2 isn't the foot of the Italian League set-up either though.
Have there been many similar cases?
E.g. SFL1 = the bottom full-time level and the next governing body down. SFL3 = bottom national level and bottom of the interlinked pyramid. West Juniors Central 2nd Division = bottom professional level.
Also how quickly might FIFA resolve it?
The Italian setup is in some ways similar.
Serie A - own organisation
Serie B - own organisation
Lega Pro - levels three and four
then you have the National Amateurs' League running levels 5th through 9th
So it's like having SPL1 and SPL2 as two separate organisations, with a two level SFL below

It would be funny if the SGM ends with a recall of the current board

Can't the clubs vote yes to "1" and no to "2"?
And can't the clubs add item "iv" to the agenda - the newly accepted member Sevco starts life in the 3rd Division?

I think someone mentioned something similar some pages back, but could we not possibly buy
some time to resolve this mess by restructuring into two leagues?
Merge SPL and SFL1 with the exception of Dunfermline (preserving their relegation) and Team 12
to create a league of 20 (i.e 38 matches in top league as now).
Dunfermline + SFL2 + SFL3 + Team 42 then create a second division of 22.
At end of season 3 teams automatically promoted/relegated plus 4th bottom and 4th,5th&6th
top enter playoff semifinals. Agree to stick with this structure for two seasons while
SFA under new leadership restructures game.
I think that three leagues of 14, playing one another three times for 39 games a season would be better.
Three down, three up - two directly and one from 3rd-6th play-off. Top 7 finishers get a 20H19A schedule next season.

If Sevco sort out the Charles Green issue they will get far, far more than four or five thousand for home games.
I'm not saying that Sevco will get an average of 4-5K Bums On Seats. I was just trying to find a rough break-even point for Sevco. I'm not going into guessing how much they may get, just what's the minimum they need
Iworked for twenty yrs in cinema mgement and s twelve screen cinema withthirty staff on min wage needed five million a yr turnover just tothink about profit. Therese's a hundred odd non playing staff runningibrox and mp most of whom will be on good salaries and benefits. Theutilities business rates tax no maintenance supplies added in mean thatthe three million figure is miles short. That business needs tens ofmillions pa to survive.I'm astonished that people think they could doit at twelve pound a ticket in front of five thousand when theycouldn't pay the face painter with spl prices TV money Cl revenue andfifty thousand through the doors.
I bow before your knowledge.
All I known is that 1st Div teams playing in front of 3-4K people have 1,5-2M budgets ...

No,he's hasn't got the merest grasp of figures.
Sit down and multiply some crowd numbers with gate prices and tell me they can't make a profit in the 3rd.
5500 per game paying 10 quid equals a million pounds a season.
Or
4000 per game paying 15 quid equals a million pounds a season.
With the upkeep of IP and MF mentioned here being 3M a year my ballpark calculations point to Seveco needing an average attendance of 12-15 000 per game to cover the cost of the ground alone.

The Big Thread must stay open!
That's the bottom line!
Scottish football needs the Big Thread, otherwise dozens of other threads will collapse!

I read the nice report from the St.Mirren meeting. I can understand where Gilmour comes from but ... FFS he says things like "had we 12 months to prepare" and uncertainty over sponsorship. I say BS to that as it's his - and the other twelve (eleven) owners of the SPL - fault.
Had he and other CEO's/owners kicked the butts of the people they employ (Cockwomble) they'd have "certainty" by now. Administration began in February and HMRC rejection of CVA was announced on 1st June (?). But the latter event's probability had been duing the rounds for weeks before. It was simply bad corporate management NOT to discuss "what if's" with sponsors.
Just as not deciding beforehand what do with Rangers and later Seveco5088. Bad corporate governance ...
As to St.Mirren not being prepared - there's the summer transfer window looming ...
ADDED LATER: They could have held an EGM!

Anyone got an e-mail address for Turnbull Hutton ? I want to send him a wee note of thanks for not backing down and representing the "diddy clubs"

Japanese tourists advised against eating square sausage and approaching folk in football tops.
The 'big hoose' guy advised against wearing his football top and told to stop eating Japanese tourists.
An honourable draw. Scotland 1 Japan 1.
Thank you Good Sir for the belly chuckle

Reading the Traynor article you notice time and again this mention of Rangers being banned from Europe for 3 seasons! Rangers don't exist!
The Newco/Sevco Version aren't eligible for Europe for a 3 year period and should they start in Division 3 it'll be a minimum of 5 seasons before they ever see a return to European competition (that's assuming they breeze through the lower leagues and finish well in their 1st season in the spl 4th season in existence)
IMO the minimum is four.
Scottish Cup.

During a phone in with ungruntled Barclays customers I heard 2 or 3 of them say they were switching to Metrobank.
Apparent'y it's a new start up with juicy interest rates.
Beware!

One of the old Rangers 'team'.
http://www.dailyreco...86908-23903416/
Gillespie was once one of Scotland's richest businessmen and a major Rangers shareholder.
His friends include Sir Sean Connery, snooker champion Stephen Hendry, football legend Graeme Souness and former Rangers owner Sir David Murray.
Gillespie owns an equestrian centre and Gillespie Investment Company in Bath Street, Glasgow, where he employs his son Scott and Fraser Souness, son of Graeme Souness.
He also part-owns Lomond & Trossachs Fuels, who he set up with Sir David Murray's son Andrew in March.
I fail to wrap my tiny brain around the fact HOW - with such Gillespies around - a club which was an "institution" and "indispensable" for Scottish football and "darling of (half) of the establishment" - was allowed to pass into the hands of a shady Sassenach.
Surely there must be monied people amongst Rangers support - why did a dozen or so not band together and cough up 6M Pounds.

If I was the Celtic chairman, I'd keep my mouth closed too. There is no way Celtic are going to raise their head and will just keep a low profile and hope the storm passes and Rangers are back with them ASAP.
This was post #60 000.
I've got a print screen to prove it.

If it's a resounding No to Newco in the First but Thistle vote Yes, I will certainly not follow Accies to Firhill next season or to any ground whose board have done the dirty on their fans. So that'll be Cowdenbeath out too, shame as I haven't been there for years (not that I'll be missing much).
By the way folks, it's Stephen Thompson and Alex Thomson. Here to help.
This is like reading Tintin all over again
Realistically how you can be a Asian and a Sevco fan? With the BNP backing, Nazi salutes, the Israeli flags and hatred of everything not protestant.
Mate goes to Rangers Celtic game couple of years ago (at the Rangers end).
Bunch of half a dozen Asian guys in front of him singing at full blast "I'd rather be a Paki than a Tim".
LOL!
It takes 12 teams to make the league, without the 10 diddies you'd have nowhere to play. Why should you both take so much revenue out of the game?
There would have been no uproar from the other 10 clubs when Gretna was in the league. The only teams who can possibly lose out of shared receipts are the OF, and maybe Hearts (doubtful). All the rest would have more cash.
My back-of-napkin calculations point to gate-sharing being practically neutral for the Edinbra teams and Aberdeen - possibly Dundee too. It would be the bottom 6-7 who would gain.
With a stronger bottom and a minimally weaker top the competition would still improve, IMO.

What,if anything happened yesterday about applying to join the league. Thought yesterday was the last day to apply.
IIRC that's not the case and a bit convulted ...
One of the Sevco's is to apply for transfer of SPL share and - if granted - would then apply to join SFA. This is to happen somewhere next week.
But in order to speed up the application processing process the SFA asked to be given the papers necessary for their SFA application BEFORE the relevant Sevco tries to replace Rangers (in liquidation).
So yesterday was the deadline for Sevco to give SFA the papers which might become of relevance next week.
Or so I understood ....

Wait until their application is refused and plans are made to turn the Big Hoose into a lot of little hooses. It'll be known as the Sevco flatpack. (A crazy Ikea I know, but youve got to put your Homebase somewhere.)
Night-night, all.
IKEA made me think of this:

Here we go...
Scottish FA @Scottish_FA We have received, via our lawyers, Sevco Scotland info pack relevant to membership application. It will be reviewed in early course
Well, well.
Sevco has bettered Haudit&Daudit in meeting deadlines.

If the SPL do decide to change the rules regards match tickets, then a solution to the money grabbing diddies is
1. Celtic's fans return their current season tickets.
2, Celtic management give away free season tickets with a piece of memorabilia purchased from the shop's club at £510.
3. Match day tickets to be sold on the same basis.
Tickets sales = £0
Problem solved.
