That's gutting, hope he can make a full recovery.

For the run in... try out a back five - Mitchell GK, Neilson, Aero and McBeth at CB, Milne and McMillan as wingbacks and rest Fitzpatrick for a game or two, which at times he looks like he could do with tbf? Something wild like McMillan further forward (but then Williams is out too and we're also limited at right back so would probably be weaker there which isn't ideal at all, don't think Zander fits there)? Shoehorn Robinson in there and then juggle about the midfield a bit (also just noticed Bannigan hasn't made the bench the last couple of games either...)?

Legit not sure; will be impressed if Doolan can stumble on something that works but aye its a pain, especially before a particularly tough match.

Are emergency/out of window short term loans still a thing 😅

I think the back 5 works and you could have Fitzpatrick playing off Graham. McMillan and Milne getting forward and protected by the 3 and a holding midfielder should create more chances.

The position we're in means we should have 4 games to work it out without too much pressure before the playoffs.

  2. Getting back to the OP's question the section is for the TV show and was introduced for reaction and call outs for features in the show. Looking at the first page of the section it doesn't seem to mention the podcast.

If it's just the Open Goal podcast you want to discuss then I don't think that needs it's own section on the forum as there probably wouldn't be enough in it to constantly make new topics, this one you've started should do.

I know the weather has been crap and we're below a canal basin but as said there's no groundsharing this year.

Also the womens, reserve and youth teams don't play on it (one women's game before Christmas apart), we don't train on it, and we went from 6th Jan to 10th Feb without a game on it yet it turned into a bog.

Can't even blame Gerry Britton anymore, f**k sake.

As for the game I have no confidence in us keeping out set pieces for 90 minutes so Morton especially with the long throws is not a good matchup, plus our keepers are selling a goal a game so we'll likely need to score 3 to win.

Also shown up in the last couple of weeks that not getting some kind of cover on the wing in January was an error, we've been lucky that Lawless and Fitzpatrick have been fit and firing for most of the season but they were both rubbish on Tuesday and Lawless hasn't been great for a few games now. The only replacements are strikers or central midfielders stuck out of position.

I've wondered if it's a cost cutting measure to not have the big lamps for the pitch switched on that encourage grass growth.

In terms of wingers what has happened with MacKenzie? He's come on a handful of times and looked decent enough taking on players. Maybe not at the same level as Fitzpatrick or Lawless but if it's not working like Tuesday night being able to bring him on as a fresh pair of legs could be the difference

Feel like Airdrie are a bit of a mixed bag but more than capable of hurting any team on their day, so should be a good game. Interesting to see if O’Reilly starts, Muirhead has actually been quite good in his last few games but saw again at Dingwall that he’s clearly struggling with an injury so could be doing with a rest. Robinson probably deserves to stay in the team and his link up with Graham was decent against County.

To add to that before the cup game I would have wanted McBeth in for Bannigan but after Saturday would be very harsh to drop him

  5. That is the typical pot 1 away trip we've seen before: solid performance, chances to win it then end up losing. The biggest difference is that would have seen us exit qualifying in previous campaigns, now we still have 3 chances and one of them doesn't even involve us!

Just want us to qualify so would take a Spain win on Sunday but hoping for the draw for the chance we can top the group without needing favours (apart from that being a favour!)

  6. Would take a 1-0 defeat on Thursday. Spain will finish Norway on Sunday.

Win in Georgia and with Norway out the running I could see Man City having a quiet word before the game at Hampden and Haaland pulling out with a "hamstring problem" and Norway don't have much else beyond Odegaard. 3 points and top of the group.

I can't believe anyone is engaging with a climate change denier.

The Tory announcement is purely based on them winning a bye election that was fought on a single issue. Sunak has seen an opportunity based on an assumption made on the back of winning that bye election fought purely on a campaign against LEZs. The fact they think this will work UK wide shows just how desperate they are. They see it an an ideal hook to the swithering Todd's within their electorate. It's as shallow as it is desperate but let's face it there are plenty moon howling deniers (climate change deniers tend to be deniers on most subjects) in the UK, the GBnews types will be lapping this up, it just remains to be seen how many of them are actually out there and how many of those it will sway.

I think Tories and Labour seen it as a single issue and never analysed any further. It's still a big swing for the majority to have gone from around 7k to 500 in a seat that's been occupied by a Tory forever but both parties are looking at rowing back on green policies which looks to be out of step with what most of the electorate actually want to happen.

  8. Not sure why there is shock about the national anthems being booed. This happens every Scotland v England game, both anthems are booed whether it's in Hampden or Wembley, and will keep on happening at all these fixtures.

The game itself needed Scotland playing at 100% across the pitch but there were a couple of players that, it felt like, played at a "friendly" pace. A couple of tackles being shirked and concentration not fully there. Disappointing but can't let it get in the way of a successful qualifying campaign.

Agree with what has been previously said about Bellingham though, looked head and shoulders above the rest on the pitch.

Looks like the ball is yet to hit him and would clear his arms. Is the rule not been amended to say something about the shirt sleeve being a playable part of the body?

Either way VAR couldn't have seen enough to overturn the decision

First time I've been to Hampden since Slovenia 4 years ago.

When did the North Stand turnstiles become so narrow? I am, shall we say, portly and it's just as well I wasn't wearing a thicker jacket or I was getting jammed!

We joined the queue at 1645 (our taxi was late picking us up) and we got in just as Scotland kicked off after the Israel goal so only missed 5 minutes. The e-tickets are here to stay, when there's a sell-out it looks like a minimum of 20 minutes is required to get in for kick off.

The SFA need to look at what they can do to reduce the queuing time. I take the point that people could turn up earlier but what is the point in changing the ticketing system if it takes longer in actually getting fans into the ground than paper tickets?

    Much appriciated! Thank you!

I would recommend Grain and Grind on Battlefield road next to the old hospital or Sinclairs on Sinclair Dr, both good food and good coffee in both and about 10 minutes walk from Hampden
