  1. Good win. Played well and took our chances against a poor Arbroath team, but you can only play what's in front of you. 7 points from last 3 home games is quite a turnaround from earlier in the season.

Wonder what odds you'll get on QP and Inverness winning their next two, Morton beating Arbroath and Ayr losing to DU and PT, to set up a last day sphincter-clencher against the Pars?

  2. Maybe the reason for attacking the Somerset Road end in the first half is down to us scoring first in only one of the last 6 games, at Inverness. Maybe Brown is trying to get us to actually take the lead and build on it, rather than having to chase the game every week. It hasn't worked yet, as we have conceded the first goal in every home game since we started it, but it's worth a thought.

Mental take. Current form suggests 37 or 38 points for the ninth place team, and the long term average (since we moved to 3 pts a win) of 39 for eighth place. 43 points would likely take seventh.

On current points per game, you're right but I'm an Ayr fan. We always take the worst case scenario, due to bitter past experience. See last season's play-off for details. It would be a relief if 10 points from our last 12 games were enough to see us safe considering how poor we have been for large parts of the season.

I am happy to see Brown try different players and formations to give players a chance to prove themselves. He has only just started working with them and will need time to fully assess them. I have more faith in Brown seeing us to safety than I had in Bullen.

Wonder what points total will be needed to finish 8th?  The league is so crazy tight that it could be quite high this season.  Worry about it when we hit 40 points I suppose.

At least if we have to play Hamilton in the playoffs we can always force them to play Rose….,

Never happy until we have 43 points. Airdrie were once relegated through the play offs after collecting 42 points and ut looks like something similar this season.

  5. Saw the topic was hot, only to find we have intruders from Greenock again. Didn't hear a cheep from them until a couple of weeks ago. They are, without a doubt, the most tedious posters on these boards and I have most of them on mute, which I highly recommend. I even tolerate Kilmarnock fans more than that lot.

They are the form team of the division right now though and we'd all love it if we could string together a set of results like that, however we won't with Bullen in charge. I don't think the squads are that much different, but Imrie took steps to sort weaknesses while we still need to sort the glaring deficiencies up front, in midfield and at right back. It's worrying we have made no moves yet in this window, other than players out.

Totally agree.  Only thing I would add is that if we bin him later in the month, will we be doing any transfer business in January? Or do the powers that be believe more in the squad than Bullen actually does?

That's why the decision has to be taken now. If we wait until after the Arbroath double header and the cup tie to bin him then his replacement won't have enough time to assess the squad and make the changes required. Waiting that long almost guarantees no better than 9th as I don't see two teams worse than Ayr.
