When you have a young left back playing at right back, a right back in the centre of defence, a left back whose confidence is shot and Sean McGinty as your back 4 then it threatens to be a long afternoon and so it proved. Thistle rightly identified the right hand side as our weak point and tore us apart down that side. Lost count of how often Ecrepont got skinned and there was no cover in behind him. Defensive shape was horrendous and left Ayr totally exposed time and time again. January can't come soon enough so we can get in some extra bodies to shore up the back lot or this season could slowly drift away to a mid-table finish. Just hope this is that little dodgy period teams have in a season and we get back to winning again soon.
Thistle were far better than the game at Ayr but that wouldn't have been difficult as their defence that night was as bad as Ayr's yesterday.

Deserved to lose with that defending. Didn't really create much either.

Ecrepont and McAllister choosing to just stand off and let them pick out a cross is borderline criminal.

Another tremendous strike! Ayr having their own goal of the season contest here

Ayr have been awful again, Dipo's strike apart. Defence look clueless. Maybe swap the full backs as Ecrepont especially is having a nightmare. Nothing going forward and too many aimless hoofs upfield.

Tremendous strike.

Why does he constantly look like he’s been caught stealing stuff in pictures? That's just normal for someone from Greenock.

Big thing for me last night was that we actually won an important game at home. Too often a decent crowd turns up at Somerset and are treated to a shambolic performance but it had a different feel to it last night. Rode our luck at times but some good old fashioned no nonsense defending and having the balls to throw players forward got the job done. Been critical of McGinty in the past but I thought he was excellent last night and shored up the defence when we needed it. One clearance from almost under our own crossbar was exceptional.

Ayr haven't threatened at all. Don't look like getting into the game.

How many goals will we lose from just standing off players and allowing them a free cross?

Relegation is too good for that bunch of neds. 90 minutes of doing everything to prevent a game of football breaking out.

The huge lump on the defenders cheek where he made contact with Adams tells you all you need to know. Dived in with his elbow up. Elbow missed so he followed through with his head. Shocking tackle.

Highlights are grim viewing. Yes, Musonda is culpable at the first for being rolled too easily but how far was the Raith player allowed to run before passing it to the scorer? We just backed away from the ball carrier and not for the first time over the last few seasons. Second goal was like the penalty the soapdodgers got in the last minute at Somerset last October. Corner to Ayr, we make an arse of it but rather than taking a yellow to stop the break we let them run the length of the pitch without a challenge. Learned nothing and utterly ridiculous defending. Third goal is a riot. WTF is McGinty doing and why does nobody push out to close down either the first or second effort? Again, if you look at the goals we have conceded over the last few years, failing to close players down is a worrying trend.
Fringe players on Thursday. The decent back 4 in the next league game. Kirk, Houston, Musonda and Reading works and they will get better the more they play together. Stop pissing about making unnecessary changes.

Funeral confirmed for Monday so absolutely no reason to postpone games again next week.

Having 9 days of mourning forced upon them will make some non-royalists more likely to kick off during the minute's silences next week. This is a poor decision all round.

If we're going to be here all winter should we put in some solar panels to cut the leccy bill?

Not sure what will come first, a red card or another goal.
Ref has actually been quite lenient so far.And the answer is, another goal! Get in.

You lot STILL arguing about this? It's Greenock. It will be pishin' doon as usual. Just be grateful for a roof over your head.

Performance psychologist is an interesting addition. This team seems mentally stronger having won 2 games after conceding an early goal and fighting back against Accies for a point. There is no way last season's team would have beaten QP or Dundee.

Didn’t realise that Killie had a short spell wearing black and white early in their existence - Ayr FC had the colours first thankfully.
The colour scheme on the first Kilmarnock strip didn't come as a surprise.

No, they'll still be there. Rusty Park, however....

If we could win at home we'd have the league sewn up already. Very good start but sterner tests to come, starting next Friday. Tonight though is for celebratory drams. Mon Ayr!!!

Oh God, no. Not this idiot again. Wasn't entertaining or funny last time so no idea why it has been revived.
