  1. Osbourne against Whitlock should be good. Osbourne was the player to watch until his disappointing showing in the Grand Slam of Darts, but this betting blog on the PDC World Darts Championship reckons that even without the same extent of high level experience, Whitlock will give him a good challenge. Hopefully will be close!
  2. O'Sullivan came out with a couple of quality shots yesterday, notably an exhibition swerve to dislodge the blue and two reds from a cushion at the far end of the table once he'd secured a frame at the end of the afternoon session. The kind of thing that makes it all worth watching. Speaking of kicks up the arse, Peter Lines is in for one today. I'd never even heard of him til I read this snooker blog on the UK Championship, but it sounds like he won a dire contest against Fu yesterday, with the lowest maximum break I've heard about between high calibre players. Williams will hoover him up today.
  3. Some hopeful longshots with reasonable prospects from this horse racing blog on the Hennessy Gold Cup. Denman seems pretty unfancied to make history, but it would be great is he could. At Newcastle, Solwhit is apparently looking good for the Fighting Fifth, although there are three real contenders for the Rehearsal Chase, making it a tough pick!
