That's the thing, there was no need for Queen's to be relegated, if the board had a decent set of balls and sacked Johnston at the appropriate time and not at the last minute, Gibson and Murray could have sorted a plan in and brought in some loan players before the window shut, having to rely on the worst forward line(excluding Fitzpatrick) queen's have had for years wasn't going to end well.

One team has to go and that's a risk every club takes.  Sadly we weren't good enough and in the end nor were Gibson and Murray.  The club has to dust itself down and rebound.  We did it 10 years ago and we need to do it again.

I am as frustrated and disappointed as the next man, but sometimes you have to take a backwards step to move forward again and this relegation has been coming the last couple of years.  Action has to be taken now to get us back up.

Perhaps they don't want the 'chairman's money', given that your accounts apparently have a healthy cash surplus, and your chairman has just helped drive your club into the abyss of the seaside leagues to battle it out with Kelty, Falkirk et. al.

A chairman of a football club has every right to promote his company if they pay their way through the normal process. That's why Morton's shirts were sponsored by our chairman's various sweet brands for nearly 20 years.

To run a raffle under the premise of giving smaller companies a chance to win the prize - so presumably they'd be expected to either pay less or nothing at all for sponsorship, after buying their ticket - only for the chairman's company to conveniently win anyway is a very bad look.

For it to happen in the same week in which you got relegated is a masterclass in terrible PR.

Football club gets relegated, hardly anything new, it's known risk to every side, every season.  That's football.

Buy a shirt sponsor raffle ticket, win the first prize, it's the known prize and has been for umpteen years.  It's not as if this is the first draw and his company won, or his company has won every year since it's inception.

What as, cook or waiter? I'm sure everything is In place in hospitality well in advance of the game. I don't think the Commercial Manager actually needs to be present for it to operate.

I think the fact the Commercial Manager is on the pitch on match days kind of makes the point.

    It’s a bit non-league.

The Rangers vote all those years ago still sticks in the craw. It was a terrible decision and showed how far away from the fans the BoD are.

That’s the one thing for me, the lingering voice at the back of my mind, reminding me of the only time I think they didn’t have the clubs best interests at heart.

    Shameful on every level.

  5. I do not for one minute think any can question the BoD have anything but the best of intentions for Queens.  Of course they have the long term stability of the club as their number one interest, they have that duty as directors.  Everyone of us can sit and snipe and say we'd do this and that but we can do that with zero accountability or responsibility.

I was a fan of the 2 year deals for the management and players, I felt after years of constant rebuilding every May and June it would give us a sound base from which to grow.  Sadly that doesn't seem to be the case presently and we are looking down the barrell of relegation.

Friday night was one of the worst performances I have seen in recent memory, it was clueless, it lacked desire and you'd see better performances on the SoS League over any weekend.  That has to be pivotal performance, frank discussions need to be had with the BoD and management.  To embarass themselves in such a manner on national TV is a disgrace.

We have scored a total of 2 goals at Palmerston this season. Which is the same as Arbroath and Hamilton. We’ve not scored 2 goals in a league game at Palmerston since losing 3-2 to Alloa on 13 March.
We’ve gone three games without scoring. I think the club record is 6 in a row.

    Something to aim for.

    1.  2001/02.  Easily my favourite.  We won the 3rd tier with some memorable wins on the way.  I also moved house that season to within 100 yards of Palmerston, making them feel more like my club than ever.  We had a baby on the way as the season drew to a close and it felt like things were coming together nicely.  A crowd of 6,000 for our final home fixture against Morton felt as unlikely then as it would now.  It was great to support a club that was on the up.

    2. 1985/86.  Promotion from the bottom tier to the middle one.  We had a good side.  I was going to games with mates and it was a rare season when you felt confident of winning each week.  Downsides were missing the big April win over Dunfermline as I was on holiday, and failing to win the title by slumping a bit after sealing promotion.

    3. 2007/08.  The Cup final season.  Much of it was pretty unmemorable actually.  Indeed, we were in danger of going bottom in December.  However, our good, comparatively expensive side got an act together in the new year.  Every Queens fan will take memories of the cup ties to the grave with them.  An incredible experience that I'd never imagined I would have as a Queens fan.

    4.  1981/82. An odd choice this, as we managed to get relegated and were a pretty grim outfit, out of our depth in the middle division.  However, it was my first real season as a regular, going to games with the lads next door.  I'd been to several one off games over the handful of years before this one, but this was the one in which I developed the habit I'm still lumbered with.

    5.  2014/15. This was a strong, young Queens side who finished 'best of the rest' behind Hearts, Hibs and Rangers.  Rangers only took 4 points from us, but squeaked past us narrowly in the play-offs.  We did blow a chance in the Cup though, losing a home quarter final to Falkirk who went on to lose the final to ICT.  Despite Dobbie arriving back later, that was probably the last season we had a genuinely good side.

I'll swap #4 for 2002/03 where after winning the league we then backed it up winning the Challenge Cup and finish 5th in the First Division.  What a time to be a Queens fan, felt like the start of something after all those crap years in the late 80s and 90s.

  8. I think that’s it for AJ and Clark, but I’m not sure the BoD will act.

I was happy enough for them to be given a 2 year deal, I felt it showed a bit of ambition and would allow AJ to build a team and an identity.  Genuinely thought it was a positive

That hasn’t happened.  There is no identity.  At the very least make yourself hard to beat, that 3rd goal is one of the most embarrassing I’ve seen defensively for a long time.

That’s defending from a group that don’t believe in their manager and coaches.

I got it wrong, I hope the board can admit the same and make the changes we need.

Absolute tripe. Stop walking around with your blue tinted glasses on. Palmerston is an absolute dump these days.

I’m sure if the local environmental health officer saw the state of the pie shop in the New Stand they would close the place down!!
Bins next to a condiment table that looks like it hasn’t seen a wet cloth in months. Disgusting as well as unhygienic 😡

It was that picture that made me wince the most.

Palmerston is the last of it's kind, it can't be allowed to fall in to disrepair.  That said it's easy for me/us to sit behind a keyboard and spend other peoples money.

Just to say that lifelong Queens (and AFC Wimbledon) fan and occasional P&B poster KingfaetheSooth (Callum to his pals) passed away on Monday after a two-year long battle with cancer. He was the best man at my wedding, and I was glad to share some great times with him - trips to Copenhagen for the UEFA Cup match against F.C. Nordsjaelland and France to follow Scotland in the 1998 World Cup, and I was at Wembley with him in 1988 when Wimbledon beat Liverpool to lift the F.A. Cup.
Rest in peace my good friend. x

Terrible news, I knew he'd suffered with the big C but never knew it was back and he was facing this.  Sorry for your loss.

Callum was a good guy, passionate about Queens and (AFC) Wimbledon (FC) and he had a strong dislike for all things franchise in football, Livingston, Airdrie United and most of all MK Dons.  We still interacted on occasion Twitter, and I can remember bumping in to him in the departure lounge at Luton Airport on the morning of the Challenge Cup final vs. Brechin.

    Rest well, KingfaetheSooth.

  11. January 1991 - Scottish Cup replay, home to non league Ross County - pumped 2-6.

April 1996 - Gubbed and reemed 0-7 at home to Stirling Albion, described as a pub-team by both the Binos and the national media (they were right).

    November 1999 - The shame of a 0-5 at home to Str*nraer.

All equally as miserable, soul destroying and humiliating.

Add to that the loss at the 2008 cup final to a team comprising of her majesty's most loyal imperfectly registered tax dodgers.

  12. The budget will be set around what the BoD think they'll get in terms of an average attendance on top of ST sales.  Sadly it still seems there is a large disconnect between the Dumfries public and their local professional team.  If the locals can be enticed back then the budget for players goes up.

Trouble is, that's a bit of a chicken and egg approach.
