In the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the number of ships damaged beyond repair was 3
The USS Phoenix survived the attack but was sunk by the Royal Navy many years later.
Is this true? I like this fact.
Have just done some googling. Turns out the Phoenix/Belgrano is also the only ship ever to be sunk by a nuclear submarine. How interesting.

Mine gets headphones pelted at her any time tiktok is opened.
Nearly 30 years old, is she ever going to grow out of being glued to tiktok?

Poorly worded on my behalf. Heading to Dornoch as well.
I stopped at Tomatin at the weekend. Picked up a bottle of their Sauternes Cask distillery effort. Looking forward to cracking that open when I get a chance
The A'bunadh is one I've seen mentioned regularly. I've not really investigated cask strength too much although having just bought a Glenfarclas 105 I can be tempted by them.
Macallan gives me that impression. Never tried any of them but always raises an eyebrow at their prices.
I know a man who's promised me an all singing, all dancing tour of Balvenie/Glenfiddich. So hopefully looking at that later in the year. Balvenie is awesome stuff
If you're going to Brora, check out Clynelish. Marvellous stuff.

Tomatin 12 and aldi black pepper oatcake bites
Been building a collection over the last few months with some fantastic finds (and others not so), of which Mortlach, Glen Turret and Glenfarclas have been the highlights
Heading to Speyside next week and looking for some recommendations.
Does anyone have any recommendations of any gems from the following distilleries:
Glen Garioch
Glen Dronach
Glen Ord
Balblair
Aberlour
Macallan
Glenallachie
Strathisla
Glen Grant
Glenfiddich
Glenallachie's 10yo batch strength stuff is great, and award winning. Batch 4 and 5 in particular are really good and I have both. They're on to batch 6 now which I haven't tasted. Heavily sherried.
Similarly, Aberlour A'bunadh is great although not as good value as it used to be. Again, really heavily sherried cask strength stuff and really highly thought of by the whisky cognoscenti.
Macallan is overpriced shite for yanks in my opinion.

Is the 10yr any good? More readily available here.
Yep, pretty good. The 12 is probably better if you can find it but nothing wrong with the ten at all.

Just to highlight the difference in approach that is possible, I sent Stenny an email thanking them for their (genuinely incredible) community work during the pandemic and enquiring about a season book and I got a personal reply from the Chief Exec. Really nice touch and puts county's email correspondence to shame.

Cheeky jumped-up pipsqueak. What is it about St.Mirren that he believes we should finish lower than a team from a village the same size of Elderslie.
More wilful misunderstanding of the nature of Ross County's support. The team are BASED in Dingwall. The team REPRESENT pretty much all of the Northern Highlands which is a really significant geographical area and a not insignificant population base.
ETA - we still have absolutely no right to finish any higher than anyone else so your point is correct.

Dont need to communicate with the fans if you have no fans left to communicate with.

It's not the decision to let these players go that is the problem, it's the how. The how matters.
Its not the first time either. There was a well publicised spat with Richard Foster last season. The Scott Boyd thing too as previously alluded to. No other clubs seem to have these issues consistently crop up.
When you are a small community club success isnt always measured on the pitch. You need to have an emotional attachment with the fans, this isnt folk in Asia watching manchester united. The goodwill that is built then sees fans rally around the club for e.g. staggies army or to support a drop down the leagues. If you're losing a lot AND you f**k off your players AND you dont give a shit what the fans think then how are they expecting folk to still be emotionally invested?
I emailed the club this morning informing them that I was cancelling my staggies army membership on the basis of the handling of the Mackay appointment and the handling of the player releases. Again - its not the decisions themselves, but the tone deaf and clunky way in which they have been done. The Malky press conference didnt even mention the past indiscretions in a twee "wee believe in redmeption" kinda way.
I got a generic short reply that is identical to the reply the other folk I know who have cancelled also got. Which just proves my fucking point. Its attached should anyone care to see how they respond to being told that a fan of 20+ years is packing it in.
TL; DR - its not fucking good enough and I am done.

You will be made to feel more than welcome at the best community club in Scotland mate, hopefully you will be enjoying some great football in what's shaping up to be a very competitive league this year
Poor appointment from County
I've been to a few games when county have been off or when I couldn't be arsed traipsing up the A9, always fair enjoyed it.

I would be happy to support this appointment if the club explained the thought process and there was a serious show of public contrition from Mackay.
In the absence of either, I'm away to watch Stenny - who really are a community club.

Hi all. Will be spending plenty more time at Ochilview for the foreseeable future since Malky Mackay is being appointed County manager.
I have been so incredibly impressed by Stenny's pandemic community efforts (I live in Kinnaird) and I want to associate myself with a club with those values instead. See you all at Ochilview when fans are back.

Makes multiple Asos/booho orders with multiple items, multiple times a week. A new delivery literally 2 or 3 times a week. Complains about some aspect or other every single time.
Popular complaints: "delivery is late, delivery is incomplete, it looked better photoshopped on the skinny model, they've only refunded 6 of the 13 items I've sent back."
Just stop ordering cheap shite you dont need 11 times a month and guess what? We wouldn't have these fucking problems.

Alexandria. She basically thinks everything west of Dumbarton is Alexandria until you hit Balloch. Renton? That's Alexandria.
I've asked mine this question because shes from reasonably near there (Killearn). Apparently it's all Balloch. Must be a thing that none of them know what the f**k a town is.
ETA: I know Killearn isnt that near these places but when you're from North everything south of Perth is nearby.

On the few occasions I've watched County under Hughes, the football has been dreadful. Think it was the cup game against Inverness, where they were aimlessly pumping it up the park with nobody in sight.
Hughes as others have said seems a decent bloke, but I'm not convinced her plays football the "right way".
To be fair the Inverness performance was unforgivable. If they decide to punt him and quote that performance as the reason I'll have no problem with that whatsoever.
However, when he took over we were 4 points adrift at the bottom of the league. He has finished 9 points clear of automatic relegation. He deserves more credit from County fans than he is getting.

I seem to be in the minority of County fans but I'm hoping he stays. Get him a DoF so he isnt choosing his own players and I think he is worth a shot.

I far prefer Killie's chances over two legs than I would have Countys. I think they'll have enough for Dundee but it will be close. I'll be having btts both legs for sure.
I would personally prefer Killie to stay up as it's one of the best away days and two Dundee teams to go away to isnt massively inspiring. Assuming away fans are allowed back of course.
Also based on absolutely nothing I'd imagine Dundee will struggle in the top flight next season and I'd expect Killie to kick on a bit with Wright. So maybe I actually want Dundee to win.
Havering pish from me here. Apologies to all who have read it.

How on earth could anyone possibly know that?! There might be a really long corridor somewhere that nobody who measures long corridors has seen.
How long is the corridor, out of interest?
