Captain Birdseye doesn't tell me how to catch fish.

Andy Robson talks about "my website" and "I've written a cheat sheet"

Football and bookies go hand in hand but the Robson brand does feel a little like misrepresentation. He is constantly RT people who win obviously to show that the tips they provide are great (they are a mixed bag naturally) and everyone he promotes clearly also thinks it's one person.

'Mixed bag' is being generous. The majority of them have a negative expected value (sometimes as high as -20%) meaning you'll be down over the long run and significantly so. And that's just on the markets that are easy to calculate i.e. 1X2, BTTS and Overs. Once you get into all the permutations and bet builders the margins are even bigger for the bookies.

If Raith fans are fine with it then that's their call, but I'd feel uncomfortable with someone like that at Falkirk.

So the nine clubs joining us in the championship are: Livingston, Morton, Dunfermline, Ayr Utd, Queen’s Park, three of Ross County/St Johnstone/Raith/Partick/Airdrie, and one of Inverness/Hamilton/Alloa/Montrose.

Just like it was this season, I expect a really tight league. The mid table clubs were only a few wins short of making the playoffs were also just a few points clear of safety in terms of the relegation playoffs.

Coming out on top of the close games will be more important than ever so I think a really good quality defensive midfielder needs to be added. I’d love to get Tait signed up again but if it’s not him, then go out and get someone with experience in this league.

I'm hoping the Premiership club win the play-offs. County have Uncle Roy and St J - whilst being run more prudently - had something like £4m cash in the bank when their last accounts came out. We could have a division next season where all 10 clubs fancy their chances.

Eh? Beating Hibs at Hampden with Alston crossing to Sibbs will forever be one of my all time Falkirk memories. A lack of buzz I didn’t notice!!

Same. It was chaos where I was sitting. Few better things in football than a good smash and grab when you're the underdog.

Hard to argue that's been a stellar season from the Bairns, guided by the steady hand of John McGlynn.  Got me thinking back to Queens similarly stellar season in the 3rd tier back in 2012/13 ...

        P W D L F A GD Pts
    2012/13 QOS 36 29 5 2 92 23 69 92
    2023/14 Falkirk 35 27 8 0 94 26 68 89

So the Bairns are on course to equal our points tally and probably beat the GD figure too as well as probably being invincible for the season.  Not a huge gap between the two club performances between those two seasons though.  I'm not sure what the overall record finish is for the 3rd tier.

Not sure how the goals have been spread throughout the Bairns team but that season Queens had Nicky Clark on red hot form scoring 33 I think in the league and 41 across all competitions ... we also beat Thistle to lift the Diddy Cup in extra time mayhem at a sold-out Almondvale.  Changed times for Queens ...

Best is surely Rangers 13/14 (102pts, +88GD, W33 D3 L0). Clearly a much bigger achievement from ourselves and Queens to reach those tallies without the 8-figure wagebill though.

  5. I'd be amazed if Alloa went full strength on Saturday. They're a part-time team going straight into a Tuesday-Saturday playoff with Hamilton. But they'll still be a dangerous proposition as there will be fringe players trying to stake a claim.

Ideal scenario is that we get a couple of early goals and turn it into a training match like we've done numerous times at home this season.

Going to be watching this with one eye on the game and the other on the score updates from Palmerston and Meadowbank...

Falkirk are certainly worthy champions but hoping they have got holiday fever now. A point for Annan would be a good result-for both teams.

Enjoy your day tomorrow Falkirk but Mon th Annan!! We need it more than yous

We've looked just as hungry in the games since the title was confirmed. What could be our undoing here is the Donaldson suspension on top of Lang's injury. Mackie and Henderson have performed admirably this season when needed at the back but this will be the first time they've started as a CB pairing. Rest of the team picks itself and hopefully the forwards do what they've done all season to relief any pressure on the defence.

For the Premier League shirts on kids, that's been the case for 30 years or more.  I'm 37 so was just a kid when the EPL kicked off in '92.  My parents got me loads of shirts when I was a boy.  Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle.  Even a belting Man City away kit in the Kinkladze days.  I actually think you see more Scottish tops on youngsters these days (you'll always have lads having the EPL tops, plus Inter Miami etc due to Messi) but you also see a lot more tops of the "diddy" sides around.  Being in Lanarkshire, I see a lot more kids wearing Motherwell tops, which is great, but I've even seen youngsters wearing Hamilton & Airdrie tops, which you would hardly ever see 20/25 years ago.

I take my wee man to a football class and Falkirk and Scotland tops comfortably outnumber OF, EPL and big Euro clubs most weeks. The kids are alright 😎

  8. I've fancied Accies to do well in the play-offs since it became clear they were finishing second. Comfortably ahead of their potential opponents with time to rest key players and work on their strategy. Starting to doubt that now given how easily the heads went down when we took the lead. Misplaced passes all over the shop culminating in an embarrassing giveaway for our second goal. Alloa also seem to be hitting form at the right time.

  9. Longridge and Tumilty are their two defenders with the most minutes. They may try and shoehorn in Euan Henderson (10G, 5A) at LW even though Miller's numbers are better. He had a bit of hype about him earlier on in the season.

I think Burrell is a shoo-in as the top scoring striker in the division.
