That's strange because there was a big thing made about the fact that we were getting green pellets that cost more but looked far better when the pitch was originally laid. I remember Raith getting the same pitch and them also mentioning the fact that they were using green pellets. Perhaps cost cutting measures over the years meant the green original ones being replaced by black ones.

I’ve never heard of them being anything other than black, played on both parks and many many others and it’s always black pellets that you find for days/weeks after in your boots, trainers, kit bag, car 🙈

For the last two league games I just want to put out our very strongest 11 and formation and treat these two games as if they were the actual play off games. We need a couple of good wins and performances going into the play offs. Get the resting players experimental stuff in the bin.

We played our strongest team for 4 games after the ayr game and won none of them whilst only scoring two goals and that was in one game. The changes haven’t really worked either but that’s down to a good few of our fringe players being garbage more than anything.

I remember that she was going out with one of our players and we released him. She came out in the media that we never gave him a chance. I think that’s the reason…..

She went out with Steve Lovell and he would give Ryan Williamson a run for his money on the most trips to the treatment table stakes

When was it we had Allan in on trial? Was just after he'd been released from Wolves and he played in a few trial games for us. Trying to rack my brain for who the manager was and who we ended up signing instead.

It was also Allan that got Robbie Mutch sent off in that dreaded game against Forfar at the Falkirk stadium a few seasons ago, then stepped up and buried the penalty.

It was the start of last season, we signed Wilson over him and he went to Airdrie later in the summer

Do we really think Messi could cut it in Scottish League 1? Would be interesting as it is a completely different game to the level he excels at.

It’d be even harder to excel if Miller and Cracks or Rennie was his manager, they’d try and convert him into holding midfielder 🤦🏻‍♂️

On a small pitch he can run around a lot chasing people, his “best”games for us have been when he’s come on and harried opposition, winning the ball back. It’s after that happens where issues arise

Exactly this! The Alloa tv guys said similar when he first played for us against them, said his biggest strength is how hard he works to win the ball after he’s gave it away.

It took until he took a penalty against morton at the start of the season to realise he’s actually left footed 🤷🏻‍♂️ as both are terrible.

Another player that shrinks away and hides when the opposition are up for it. Him and Gary Miller last season is up there with some of the worst midfield combos I’ve seen in a Falkirk jersey and I include Paul Paton and Prince Bauben in that.

Credit where it’s due he always came across well but it’s on the park that really counts

Would be madness if he got a move upwards but I'm all for it.

    Dick loves a clogger.

That’s an insult to cloggers tbh. Alloa tv were pretty much laughing at us when we played him against them at their place. Something like his biggest asset is how hard he tries to win the ball back after he’s gave it away 🤦🏻‍♂️

Even when played further forward when gomis was in the side  previously though your lucky if he turned up one game in ten.

Still was our second top goal scorer behind Morrison the last two seasons and a lot of that was playing deeper. Gomis was lucky to last an hour a game. I’m not disappointed he’s left as McGinn and Yeats are far better imo but I do feel he’s better than hetherington, Nesbitt and Mcguffie. It also wouldn’t surprise me if he did better for Airdrie as it’s what we do to a lot of players, hopefully Mcglynn is reversing that trend

If at the end of last season, we could only keep one of Nesbitt, McGuffie and Telfer, then I think Telfer would have been the one to keep.

He’s last season’s Blair Alston, obviously has ability but being played out of position as a holding midfielder and having the likes of Hetherington and Gary Miller next to you is worse than being a man short. Alston was widely regarded as finished and he turned out ok last season and I imagine Telfer will be much of the same. He’s a better player than Mcguffie and Nesbitt for sure, mind you that wouldn’t be hard

We wouldn't have had to play McCann at right back or keep putting Yeats there if we could actually break the habit of seasons on end and sign a capable natural right back. Every time we sign one he's either utterly dugshite and/or injured. I mean how difficult is it.

Crazy to think we haven’t had a good right back and who is natural to that position since the Scottish cup final in 2015

Another impressive aspect for me is not his undoubted success in bringing in players better than what we have seen in the recent past, but his man management in getting performances out of a few who were pretty much written off last season.

Nesbitt, McKay and McCann have all made contributions and performances miles ahead of anything they gave us last season. That cannot simply be down to them being being “terrible”. A huge component in that has to be how they were managed last season. I think it’s fairly obvious that McGlynn possesses man management skills miles ahead of last season’s two coaches.

I’ve been saying that for years now, there’s a good reason why a lot of players we’ve had on our books go on to play in divisions above after being written off whilst with us. I know the previous board blamed it on them raising their game against us but that was nonsense, they played well most weeks because they were in a team that was better assembled and better coached. Mcglynn and smith have definitely instilled a better mentality along with actual shape and tactics along with some quality additions like McGinn.

McGlynn may prefer Martin starting tomorrow as Hogarth won't have had a great deal of training with us, tho on paper Peterhead at home is probably a good game for him to start.

As for third choice, he is well below that in the pecking order at forest, Christ a Scottish 3rd division team ain't getting that level of player on loan without blackmail or masses of cash.

Or Davie Sinclair, I was told Myles had him up against the wall in the changing rooms, claimed that he would deliberately put backspin on the ball with pass backs to Myles

I can’t imagine Sinclair knew how to deliberately put backspin on a ball tbh

Think Hetherington has got it a bit light on here tbh, he was the worst player on the park on Saturday. Never seen a game pass someone by like that since…. Hetherington every game last season

Hetherington is that terrible it’s taken over a season to realise he’s left footed! His passing(don’t think I’ve ever seen him hit a shot) is that woeful with either foot I assumed he was right footed. It was only when he took a penalty against Morton that I realised. He’s like a combined collection of every poor attribute from Falkirk midfielders over the last few decades. The dig of John Henry or Brian Hamilton, the football brain of Neil Scally, the passing ability of Tom Taiwo and the pace of Gary Miller. Add in a dash of Paul Paton and that pretty much sums up how frighteningly poor he is.

  14. Did we ever have Ugwu on trial? He’s still without a club. Henderson at Hearts is a good shout too, totally different player to Ugwu but looked good last season. Ideally we’d get both.

Whilst I have faith in Mcglynn and the players he wants to sign to fit his system and tactics I’ll chime in on the Telfer debate, if we haven’t added to our midfield by the window closing and unless there’s better free agents who’d come to us I’d have him back. He’s no world beater but playing an advanced midfield role in front of McGinn and Yeats would suit him far better than where our previous idiot managers played him and who they played him next to. Just like Alston proved at Killie last season if you play to a player’s strengths and put him in a system with players that compliment each other you’ll normally see much better results. Ideally we get in a better player on loan but Telfer is better than Hetherington and Mcguffie by a distance IMO

  15. Can't see why people are losing their minds thinking we should be paying big wages for players. It's pretty simple, last season has become this season, everyone expected rangers to walk the league and if they weren't at Christmas they'd buy it like what they're doing with Scott Allan. It was also expected hibs or hearts would win the playoff. That's why we put most signings on 2 year deals to build a team to challenge this season. With Rangers still in the championship I can imagine the plan will be like last season and aim for the playoffs without spending too much, as realistically we won't be able to challenge for the title this season. We'll sign another couple of players and finish around 4th.

It pains me to say that but I'd rather see us live within our means this season then maybe gamble with our budget next year when the title would be more realistic. Christ knows I don't want to see us going back to owing shareholders and getting handouts from Sandy Alexander to pay bills.

  16. Compton criticised Pressley's tactics last season and got told to train with the young lads. He's not been brilliant but when you're played on your weak side constantly I'd maybe be upset too. Especially as he looked decent on the left and was about the only player able to go past a man
