  1. Highlights up.

We really need to be taking those chances first half.

Just listened to Naysmith's post match interview bemoaning the fact we lost our spark and attcking intent when Robertson and Shanley went off. If only we had a proven goalscorer at this level..........

  2. After much humming and hawing, I eventually decided to go to the game at about 12.55. Made kick off just and no more! Made my way round to behind the end City were shooting towards, just in time to see Forfar go one ahead! Great start.

Fearing the worst, I was pleasantly surprised to see us take the game to Forfar. Playing Danny Jardine more central, with with John Robertson and Shanley ahead of him, seen us create a number of good chances. Robertson looked particularly strong yet again getting into great positions and working the opposition centre halfs. The downside to our swashbuckling forward play was our inability to stop Forfar from hitting us on the break with a decent degree of success. Whenever a long ball was played in behind our centre halfs were struggling to deal with it. This lead to Reekie being caught wrong side and giving away clumsy penalty which, luckily for us, was crashed against the post by our old pal Sheps. The game continued from end to end until the half time whistle with City both lucky not to be 2 down and also unlucky to not be on the score sheet ourselves.

Second half and Forfar came out with more intent playing some decent stuff. City huffed and puffed but struggled to get a foothold back in the game. We then lost our goalie Goodfellow to injury replaced by Schwake, both of whom struggled to distribute the ball throughout the game. Any chance of grabbing a leveller virtually disappeared when Robertson was forced off injured mid way through the half. A slack pass by the new right back Brian, who had been solid up until this point, led to Forfor confirming the win late on.

Poitives - an improvement from last week.

    We played some incisive football.

    Robertson looks a player.

Forfar steward let me lift my lad over the turnstile.

Negatives - Both Goalies not good enough IMO.

We look soft at the centre of defence.

For all our chances created we still haven't scored.

Wee group of Forfar teenagers abusing my laddie for wearing a City shirt. He's 9 FFS.

    Onwards to Friday night football

  3. In two minds about going up for the game on Saturday.

On one hand we have missed so much football, I just want to squeeze in as much as possible. It's just great being able to go to games again.

On the other, last weeks game has knocked the stuffing out of me a little. Add to the fact i'd have to drag my backside out off bed early after a nightshift, it's making it a little less appealing!

    Convince me Citizens!

  4. We really were poor 1st half yesterday. No game plan, no cohesion and no desire. We looked really vulnerable down our left with the penalty and 2nd goal both coming from that side. The worst performance from City in a long long time.

The introduction of Robertson 2nd half made a difference and the team seemed to have a lot more purpose and drive but it was too little, too late. The missed penalty summed up our day.

Like the idea of the Fanbase app to be honest and be good to see the club pushing out discounts or incentives via it in the future - every ticket bought for a cup game (i.e. not on the season ticket) you get a small discount off at the club shop, something like that.

Crowd limited at 300 for Friday, not 100% sure we'll actually get that - good early test of how Friday nights will work. As I've said previously it might be okay at Meadowbank assuming we put things in place to make it a decent fan experience but can't see many people giving up their Friday nights to trudge along to Ainslie Park.

Hopefully the new kit should be out shortly for us to spend money on the club shop.

I work nightshifts starting at 22.30 Monday to Friday. Ainslie is really tight to make it on time, but should be easier once back at Meadowbank. Having to give this Friday a miss due to a prior engagement unfortunately.

  6. What a difference 3 days make! Strong performance from the lads tonight with some great football being played. 1-1 definitely flattered Rose.

Hilton Man of match for me.

Only dampner was Ouzy walking off for what looked like an alleged racist comment towards him. Hopefully this is clarified by both clubs.

Gala Fairydean 3 Edinburgh City 1.

Could be a looooong season ahead. A couple of familiar L2 players appeared as trialists for City today but I won't name them.

On that showing, we have definitely regressed at an alarming rate.

I know it's early doors, but the first 2 goals were absolute howlers defensively.

I would say the challenges were late rather than dirty. Arniston are a showdow of the side they were a few years ago under Jock Hadden. Pretty much an amateur team in all but name these days.

Thats why I was surprised Vale weren't much better to be honest.

  9. Was at a loose end so headed to Newbyers for Arniston Rangers v Vale of Leithen friendly last night. My main take away from the game was how the hell are Vale a LL outfit?

The top EoS and WoS teams would easily tear them apart. I know it's a friendly and early doors but they really are poor for this level. Surely relegation and promotion should be increased to allow teams to find their level more quickly.

Your home League Cup groupstage games are Friday + Wednesday... not regular Saturday + Tuesday... but aren't on TV.

Don't clash with Spartans friendlies either.

    These at Meadowbank or elsewhere?

Supposed to be Meadowbank, but i'd be surprised if it's ready by then.

I'd have kept almost all the guys on the released list!

Antelll, Thommo, Balatoni  Black and Lairdy have been the backbone of our team for the last 3 years and are all top players

Plus they're probably about my 5 favourite players as well, so I'm gutted!

So if we're getting better players than them in, then we'll stroll to the title next season!

As I said earlier, I've Not  been impressed so far with anything I've seen from the new coaches that they will take us forward, (I think we lost 6 from last 10 games?) But will give then a chance next season to get it right.

I can see the managers thinking.

Thats 3 season in a row we have tried and failed to win promotion. Taking opinion and sentiment out of the equation, thats 3 seasons of failure. If we were to be brutal about it, these players have had their chance and not taken it.

Thats not to say I haven't enjoyed watching them, i just think that the club can't be sentimental if it wants to progress.

Hopefully the manager, with his links and experience, will replace them with better quality.

In the days before the Scottish League- Brian "Fozzy" Foster with the East of Scotland (Qualifying) Cup.

Last time I watched big Bri was for Preston V Tynecastle at Fernieside. He was a few pounds heavier than in those pics🤣

A very capable player in his heyday and a top guy aswell.

  13. Anyone else buy the stream today? Thought we were dreadful 1st half untill we scored, then controlled the game untill the last 10 minutes. Need to learn to be more clinical in front of goal.

Stream quality wise it wasn't the best. Changed browser and player a few times but continued to freeze every 10 minutes or so. Pretty poor for £10 but hopefully it will improve.
