Both sides will be in cinch League Two next season, so these seething responses just add to the flavour. You boys will still be flitting between Farrell worship and pitchforking when Clyde's money team slap The Sons about.

I think McLean’s time should be up.
It's a tough one, because he's undoubtedly been hamstrung to a great extent by injuries and Duffy's recruitment, and despite some good additions of late we remain really deficient at full back. We haven't had one good 90-minute performance in his time yet, though, which is a massive concern - I wouldn't be at all upset if he were to depart, it's just frustrating that we can't see if he'd fare any better with a full complement.

Don’t worry lads, the promotion season Clyde would put us to the sword.
Thrilled to have been vindicated with that statement when your season immediately thereafter fell apart at the seams and you got emphatically Annan'd in the playoffs, as you'll do again this season. Delicious.

It's a shame that Clyde's eminently lovely first goal is only chalked up as "fortunate" by select commentators who are, sadly, wholly deluded about Stenhousemuir's alleged impenetrability. Very good of ex-Clyde trialist Edin Lynch to expertly nod home, right enough.

Sula sold that second goal with the pass and then diving in on Yates, but that was a brilliant response to it and I don't think a draw was unfair whatsoever over the piece. N. Jamieson and Buchanan were titanic for Stenny towards the end and we might've snuck it without their brilliance. I've still got concerns over how we are in periods of games, but we've certainly got enough quality to pick up decent points over the course of the season. Stevenson at full back was a pleasant surprise and I wouldn't be averse to seeing he and Lyon starting there. January will be a big month for us though and hopefully we will move well.

Aye, deservedly behind but the nature of the goal itself is disappointing. That's three times already we've had a change of shape in that first half; reeking of uncertainty at the moment. Stenny aren't spectacular but look like exactly the kind of solid unit that sees a team do very well in this division - shades of Peterhead the year we both went up. We'll have to get a bit closer to Wedderburn in this second half because he's had the run of it.

Am I right in thinking he can play right across the back line? Could be handy for us given we are a bit shy of options at full-back

The Plough Hotel, right across the road is decent for food. The Wee Bar in the main stand will be open for home and away fans for cheaper drink before the game
How cheap are we talking? Will the savings make up for having to mingle with Stenny's roustabouts?

They really were two great goals, which made it all the more frustrating second half when they shrunk into their shells a bit. Like I said, King clearly has some amount to learn about discipline in midfield - he wouldn't be here otherwise - and, if he can learn that between now and January, then that added touch of stardust will be a huge asset for us; it's been a long time since we've had a player capable of the goal he produced today. Young - whisper it - looks like a fabulous signing; I'm already looking forward to seeing more of him.

Carswell played a few hospital balls and still doesn't look totally up to speed but, as has been said, he was miles better than what followed him. A half-fit Ray Grant still pisses all over him though.
I actually thought that was a pretty poor showing by McCulloch's recent standards; he was caught out by a lot of long balls in that second half.

Would really appreciate a deeply detailed analysis of Young’s performance so that I can get excited about watching him before making my glorious return to watch our Galacticos at the fabulous Clyde Soccer Academy of Training and Excellence, Larbert.
He's got a bit of everything, really. Works hard, has a bit of trickery about him with a decent touch, fairly tall and quite quick too. He looks to be comfortable on his weaker foot as well, which is never a bad thing. Made the wrong decision on a couple of occasions, but his work for the opening goal was terrific. Saw enough today to be wishing he was tied down for two years rather than Mulvanny, put it that way.

McLean didn't help himself at all changing the shape so much once we led - while we were still on top in the first half, it killed our momentum. The second half, particularly after Sula's own goal, was entirely unacceptable though. They were all absolutely terrified and ended up knackered with 15 to go, and the subs only made us worse. That game was crying out for us to have a Ray Grant available; we desperately need a couple of him, Cuddihy and Scullion available again. Young looks like he could be a player but, like too many others, is quite raw. King has a great deal of talent but you saw today why he's ended up here.
Still, it was a must-win game and we've won it; two great goals to do so as well. Hopefully this is a turning point, because it'll have to be.

I've seen the talk about desperately needing experience to succeed a hell of a lot of late, but there's not a huge difference between what are probably our strongest XIs then and now (using age at time of first appearances):
Currie 24-25 Leighfield
Cuddihy 22-19 McCulloch
Rumsby 24-28 Sula
Lang 21-19 Dunachie
McNiff 26-25 Lyon
McStay 22-26 Cuddihy
Grant 21-21 Scullion
Rankin 35-18 King
Banks 17-18 Leslie
Syvertsen 20-18 Stevenson
Goodwillie 29-29 RennieAverage age: 23.7-22.4
Rankin is the big outlier there; in terms of actual first team football played, King is miles ahead of Banks, while Scullion is ahead of where Grant was. Ideally we'd have a couple of better experienced options, no doubt, but it's not like there's some massive crisis and it's a full team of wee boys who aren't ready for this level. Dunachie has taken to it like a duck to water, McCulloch is steadily improving and then the trio of loanees all look to be prospects of varying degrees who will serve us well. Plenty experience elsewhere as well with the likes of the Grant brothers, Parry, Forbes and Carswell also kicking around (obviously some of them aren't very good players, but their experience will still rub off on the younger ones).

More of a wide or central player?

You can't win 'em all. Good luck, "Kyan Gunn"!

Leighfield
McCulloch - Sula - Dunachie - Lyon
L. Scullion - Cuddihy
Leslie - King - Stevenson
Rennie
Subs: Parry, Craig, P. Grant, Hynes, Carswell, Forbes, Cameron, C. Scullion, Mulvanny, Malcolm
This is what we'll probably look like in a couple of weeks, so we don't really need any more numbers - better quality in some areas would, of course, be lovely, but that looks every bit to me like a solid upper-mid-table League 2 squad. Slight concern in that King and Leslie are only with us until January (think we'd be far more likely to see the latter's stay extended than the former's, if both do well), but you'd imagine McLean will have identified and worked on new and probably permanent signing targets for when that window comes.
ETA: Forgot Darren Hynes exists

Alex King joins on loan. A series of testimonies from my Morton supporting bezzie:
"We won't loan him to you"; "folk would be raging"; "I don't understand why he isn't playing more for us"; "Nah"

Chris Millar in as assistant? Saw someone on Twitter congratulating him on his retirement and speaking of a "new venture at Clyde"

Better second half, at least in terms of the spectacle. No surprise really that Stevenson was much better when playing off the left (but please, stop going offside) with Cameron also much improved starting off centrally - only way both should be used, imo. The starting midfield trio all ranged from solid to good and the defence was relatively solid despite a few moments each (Lyon aside, who was really quite good today). Encouraging to see that McCulloch is growing into it a wee bit more as the weeks go by.
I fancy we'd have won that with everyone fit and available, really - L. Scullion for Carswell, Leslie for Cameron and Rennie for Malcolm would've made a big difference. The paucity of options up front is obviously a concern and it's far from ideal that we couldn't get someone in before last night but I'd far rather we waited a couple of weeks and brought in someone who is both an improvement to the squad and doesn't require a massive overpayment.
We clearly really need a win but I don't think things are quite as bad as opinion and hitherto results make out. Bonnyrigg topping the table is summative of how tight and poor this division is on the whole and we aren't far off that level at all.
