It really doesn't look good on paper.

Neilson leaves Hearts, one of Scotland's biggest clubs, who are currently sitting in second place, have average crowds of 15,000+ and goes to...

MK Dons. A club in the forth(?) tier of English football who are one of the most hated clubs in the country. Do they even get 10,000 on average at home?

I understand it's a career advancement. If he does well there he'll likely move up the ladder. And he'll be getting a whole lot more money.

But on paper it looks a tad depressing for us.

I think Nelson knew there was some discontent among Hearts supporters regarding him, he can't have been oblivious to it and so chose to get out now before it got worse,  which is fair enough. He probably thought he could take us as far as he could and IMO he is right.

Scottish cup winners m8. Dispatching of your Sunday league side early on despite you being 2 up with 10 to go at home before losing the replay. 3 years unbeaten against you whilst cruising back into the premiership to continue our utter domination of yourself and the rest of Scottish football.

    That was so 2014/2015.

What a bunch of miserable c***s.

It's funny, I was actually going to compare our situation to Dundee's. I've been hearing all season from Dundee fans calling for Hartley's head because the football has been shite but on the face of it, the situation is really far from critical, and Hartley on paper in the last few seasons has done an excellent job with Dundee.

Then I tell them about Neilson and get the same reaction because on paper he is still doing as well as you could probably expect, but watching it week in week out is soul destroying.

In the end we all just concluded we're a fickle bunch us football fans.

There are three threads on the front page of Jambos Kickback on the subject of Neilson being replaced, and who might replace him.

Do people really think that Levein will sack Robbie while we're still 3rd/4th in the league?

His record so far this season doesn't merit it, I think the worrying question is how bad it would have to get for Levein/Budge to actually sack him.

  5. I'm still not in the get Neilson out camp (losing to Aberdeen might change that), and despite the last couple of results its a change to see people saying we were unlucky or we might have deserved more.

What we have though is a total shitebag nature at the club at the moment and its made its way in to the team. I'm totally for making this club family friendly and making it a great place to watch football, but with the multiple statements we've turned ourselves into an absolute parody. It feels like they are trying to suck the passion out of the fans and it's carrying down into the team, which shows by the amount of times we've managed to throw away good positions or shite ourselves when we play big games.

I think it helped more when we were a team that could get on with things whether people liked that or not and would be feared on the pitch (See Romanov) than this cuddly image we are trying to promote of ourselves which is blatantly not true.

What'll be even more embarrassing for Scottish Football is if Hearts finish anywhere near a top three side this season.

Aberdeen are likely to get knocked out in the next round, but that'll be up against a team who have a decent record in Europe in recent years - which is a lot more than can be said for any Scottish team. They got knocked out of Champions League qualifying early last year, but the previous year they got through the qualifiers (beating Celtic on the way) and drew with Sporting Lisbon, Schalke & Chelsea (though did get hammered 6-0 at Stamford Bridge) in the group stages. They got through the group stages of the Europa League in 2013/14 and were only knocked out 3-4 on aggregate by winners Sevilla. It'd be more of a shock if Aberdeen beat them.

We will finish near the top 3/4 this season, and that's because the rest of Scottish football in general is absolute pap.

  7. I'm not sure where I stand on our management.

On the face of it, a championship and a 3rd place finish is excellent progress, particular winning a championship that has both Rangers and Hibs in the style that we did it. It does feel like there has been a shift in the way we play though since we got promoted, and definitely not for the better, I'm not sure if that's just because we got away with things more in the Championship.

I can't really remember a time when I've been this frustrated when watching Hearts though, other than maybe under Csaba Laszlo. Neilson's constant tinkering with the team (more so towards the start of the season it has to be said so maybe lessons have been learned) cost us far too many points, often in absolutely ridiculous games to try it too. I do think there is more potential in this team than Neilson is getting from them, 3rd in the league is good on paper, but taking into account it's been the worst SPFL since I can remember, and the amount of times we've chucked a game we should have won we could have challenged both Aberdeen and Celtic further IMO.

It would be unfair not to give Neilson (and Levein) another season and then judge them on that...unless we get papped out by FC Infonet then I'm all over the witch hunt.

  8. We took a bit of money of each currency with us and if we ran out used a cash machine. Handy to have some with you so you aren't scouting for a bank machine whenever you get somewhere.

Echo what was said above about using buses too, we used 'student agency buses' between prague and vienna which was excellent, had tvs on the back of every seat and was cheaper than the train, only about 14 euros iirc.

  9. It would have been shite to have seen Hibs win the cup in 2012. There's been an air of inevitability about Hibs winning the cup since that game though with the players and fans wanting to right the wrongs, their record in the Scottish Cup has been excellent since then.

Edit: I mentioned this on the actual cup final thread but Hibs scoring a last minute goal against one of the old firm was by far the most pleasing way they could have broken the duck from my point of view

  10. I went ahead and tried it this morning with my porridge. Mixed in some banana too. Surprisingly nice, although it lacked a bit of sweetness. I think if I try it again tomorrow with a bit of honey I'll be on to something pretty special.

Sorry - didnt see the other reply!

I found it to be a bit stodgy so had to add in a wee bit more milk than i usually would, apart from that it really is excellent, adding bananas is a good shout. I didnt find there to be a lack of sweetness but i did put in an outrageous amount of peanut butter.

  11. Gutted if we lose Sow but if its actually 1.5 million then that is ridiculous amount of money.

Im not sure I get the Don Cowie signing, my first thought was he'll get the odd game here and there but hes another one thats been recruited to get his coaching badges and join the backroom staff. Gomis going means it looks like he'll be a straight replacement for him instead.

Expecting another striker at least tonight, and maybe a defender.

Edit: This is as exciting as a deadline day has been since the Romanov days though!
