A draw the best result we could have hoped for there. They completely bossed us second half. Ruud made the right changes and pressed us high enough that we couldn't build from the back at all. GvB should have changed it earlier and brought on another deeper midfielder to build from the back.

Another thing is that our midfield just isn't good enough at this level. We badly need someone to come in alongside Lundstram. Sangare is a superb player and completely dominated that area.

With our current away European record I'd say this tie is over unless we pull off a miracle.

Yes. That struck me. A bit of class in midfield. But I guess all clubs in Scotland need that.

  2. I think the expression [it's a man's game] is idiomatic. It is/was used on the field of play as a derisory retort when an opponent complained of a bruising tackle. Never meant that the game should be exclusively the domain of men. Otherwise wee laddies would be excluded too. It is one of these phrases that has been around for a long time and has now been misrepresented as some kind of slight against those who happen not to be, er - men. Too many folk taking things out of context.

Richard Gordon is the most loved broadcaster in the history of any media in any country, so unlucky.

He had a dreadful habit of losing the thread of a conversation. Occasionally he'd get an interesting discussion going, [during OAM], then some moron would shout GOAL! Off they would pop to some ground for a report, then come back and start talking about something else. He just needed a pencil and a piece of paper to keep track.
