  1. Anyone going to Pressure this month? Looks a good one, especially with the circulation of gold bar super swedgers :thumsup2

Aye mate, heading to this with a large group of friends. Absolutely buzzing out my chops to cut some shapes. Spent my day off listening to the new Slam Radio. 4 hour mix. Absolute belter (just takes a while to get into it). Bought a ticket for Skream the next day in Edinburgh as well, but whether me make it or not is a different story...

  2. 12 Years a Slave - 6/10

It's a fantastic film, and an incredibly important piece of cinema. The cast are outstanding, Fassbender in particular. However, I just found it too brutal to enjoy. The brutality and intensity are just relentless. Some of the scenes were just nauseating, however i'm guessing that's the whole point. It's educational, but not entertaining. Not my cup of tea.

    Devil's Due - 1/10

Just an utter crock of shit. Just awful. It's just completely unoriginal and adds absolutely nothing to the genre. Even the basics were executed poorly. Avoid at all costs.

  3. Its illegal cause its naturally subversive, it encourages lateral thinking and causes people to question a lot of things the powers that be would rather you didn't question. Its nothing to do with harmful effects thats not the issue. Read what Chomsky says about it thats why its really illegal, it appeals to certain subsets of society and has a subversive effect on the young.

The only thing I question when I'm melted is if my legs are really attached to my body. The government are pretty safe in all honesty.

  4. Insidious 2 - 4/10

It does its job. Jumpy and exciting, a good scare. It's a nice continuation of the first film; the two intersect really nicely at times. However, the plot's a bit messy at times. It's starting to dawn on me that James Wan's a one trick pony. Every one of his films are pretty much the same: a story about ghosts, easy scares, with a high pitch string section to narrate. It's a good trick, but starting to get a little stale. Still, a decent enough film and a good laugh if you're a big a shitebag as myself.

  5. Theres some interesting coincidences about 9/11 aswell...

    • Exactly one year before the event a Government think tank said it would take a very long time to increase military expansion in the Persian Gulf (what they wanted), unless a major catastrophe occurred, like Pearl Harbour
    • The three passports of the bombers survived every attack, in perfect condition, and were discovered. Despite the planes black boxes being destroyed and lost
    • Steel only melts at a far higher temperature than petrol can reach, so there's no reason for WTC 7 to collapse since it never got a direct hit
    • Dick Cheney was CEO of a company called Halliburton. That provides defence, infrastructure and energy. They profited massively after 9/11, and have made an absolute fortune from the Iraq War, so much so they now have a permanent base in Dubai. Cheney was the main starter of the think tank in the first point
    • A frame was cut in the CCTV from the Pentagon attack
    • On September 10th Donald Rumsfield announced than 2.3 trillion dollars had disappeared from the pentagon finances, and he would be investigating where it went. The very next day the Pentagons accounting office was destroyed in the attack, and it would be impossible to find out where the money went
    • 2 months before the attacks, the leaseholder of the WTC site opened up an insurance policy, and included terrorist attacks in it. He went to great lengths to make sure both towers would be paid out for separately, ensuring he'd get double than what he previously would have
    • WTC 7 fell at "free fall speed", meaning there was no friction in its collapse, and it fell perfectly in time at every corner
    • The firefighters who rushed to the scene all claim to have heard "explosions" inside the towers

Surly It doesn't actually need to melt? If it was heated to around 800-1000 degrees (roughly burning temperature of jet fuel I think), it would become malleable enough to collapse under it's own weight?

  6. The Conjuring: 7/10

Essentially, it's just the same as Insidious. Same cast (just about), same plot (just about), same horribly frightening soundtrack (exactly the same). I really enjoyed it, went with a few pals and had a good laugh at each other freaking out. The film itself is quite decent, but it's not a classic. Like Insidious, it's just easy scares. The volume is turned up extremely loud, and things jump out on screen. The story itself isn't exactly frightening. I'm not sure if that's down to poor direction, or just an over-exposure to all things scary; It's probably a lot harder to frighten somebody these days than 30 years ago. I'd definitely recommend the film though.

  7. I work in a kitchen, and we've recently had an inspection from the Food Standards Agency. Whilst we didn't do horribly, there were still a few concerns raised regarding the cleanliness of the kitchen. Anyway, the owners aren't tackling any the issues addressed. Instead, they're making us sit through pointless lectures regarding the most basic food hygiene. Today involved a half an hour video on the importance of washing your hands, which was followed by a demonstration. Unpaid as well.

  8. Pacific Rim - 5/10. Worst porno ever...But in all seriousness, it was ok. The kind of film I struggle to really enjoy: just mindless action. I can't turn off my mind and enjoy it, so my rating might be slightly bias. The fighting scenes were good, but not overly incredible. Not really an impressive script, doesn't give the cast a chance to shine at all, so obviously no real stand out performances. Apart from Ron Perlman. Ron Perlman is always outstanding. Probably the highlight of the film. The ultimate badass. Charlie Day's prepubescent voice is typically horrible and brings the film down a few ratings. All in all, it was ok.

  9. Monsters University - 9/10. Pixar never fail to disappoint. Absolutely brilliant.

The Watch - 4/10. Really disappointed with this. Given the cast, I expected this to be brilliant. It was pish. Funny at times, but as a whole, quite shite. I feel they didn't exploit Richard Ayoade's character enough. Nothing memorable from him. Ben Stiller was just fine. Vince Vaughn played his usual part in making any film rancid by being a tedious, 1-dimensional. shite self. Jonah Hill was the only genuinely funny one in it.

  10. This Is The End - 9/10

Going to join in with the love in. It was absolutely fantastic! I don't think I've ever laughed harder at the cinema.

Quick question though: How does Jonah Hill not get into heaven? I know he asked god to kill Jay, but he was still a good guy before that, no?
